Brad Paisley the latest possible ‘Idol’

The names keep on coming: now Deadline.com says country star Brad Paisley is being considered for a slot on the judge’s panel.
Paisley is modern country royalty. All 30 of his singles have gone top 20 on the country charts, 27 of them have hit the top 10 and 18 landed at No. 1.
He’s approachable, down to earth and funny. Many of his tunes involve great wordplay (”Alcohol,” “Water”) and humor (”Online,” “Celebrity”). He has hosted the CMA Awards with Carrie Underwood for several years now.
Given the success “Idol” has had with country music, this would be a smart move if they can come up with a deal. “The Voice” already has elevated Blake Shelton’s profile.

We are still awaiting Randy Jackson’s status but we should know relatively soon what his role will be. With Carey on board, I can’t imagine “Idol’ would get rid of him since he’s Carey’s manager.

- And talk about switching topics. William Balfour, the man who killed several of Jennifer Hudson’s family members in 2009, has been sentenced to three life sentences. The judge called his soul “barren.”

Can you imagine a judges panel that had 36 JTs?
Contestant performance: 10 seconds:
Judges’ comments: 18 minutes (at 30 seconds per judge)
I guess that would get rid of a lot of the useless filler stuff. But it would make the show even more all about the judges.

JTesla, back in my days at Duluth Middle School I had a teacher who would tug on my ear. Didn’t like the woman God bless her soul since she’s long since past but I do have an ear lobe that remembers it. So the word tug gives me the shivers. I was going to say willies but that be taken out of context. My point is I don’t know all the double entendre’s for todays language nor do I care. What is neede here is a little WAR.

Catching up. Yep, Sam from earlier, twins once again. I truly hope they don’t choose Brad. I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but I just dislike his music so strongly that it colors my perception of him as judge. Not fair, I know… but it would take away some of my looking-forward to the new season.
I think DanJ has it right. Brad’s fans will tune in to see him, and will like/vote for the country singers. So it could possibly cause a sway toward another country finale. And to me 2011 was such a boring disappointment of a finale…
Oh and Dan, I also often agree with someone on one post and disagree on the next! I know just what you mean!

Oh, and also I have heard both terms for “patootie”. Sweet patootie- which always reminds me of Linus and Sally in Peanuts- “my sweet baboo”. (or was it Lucy and Schroeder?)
And I also think of it as a cute funny joking term for “rear end”. Not an offensive word at all though.

You didn’t just say “tugged” JT, you said, “tugging one off in an adult theater is OK” and anyone with half a brain knows what that is, and it is a perverted comment. Stop skirting the issue and simplifying it. It was the entire sentence, and not JUST THE WORD “tugged” that was the issue. You would make a good “right hand man” for Obama.

I’m okay with Mariah joining the judges panal on Idol. I wasn’t expecting Brad Paisley’s name to emerge as a candidate to be Idol judge. We’re still waiting to find out if Randy is coming back or leaving after 11 seasons. Some have suggested the idea of including an iconic music producer (like Quincy Jones or Clive Davis) and/or an iconic musician (like Elton John) as an Idol judge. We’ve certainly not heard the last of this.

Furthermore… If Idol can’t get it together, it would appear that season 12 of American Idol could and might possibly have to be its last. Fox can still survive with The X-Factor and So You Think You Can Dance… as well as plenty of good, quality scripted shows.

MyPatootie, yes we are both guilty of omission (regarding my focus only on “tugged”). In my defense I did not want to keep repeating the phrase that you take offense at. I have no problem with it, I’ll probably use it again, but I’m not going to use it repeatedly just to make you uncomfortable.

I have to admit I’m tired of the WGWG. Why can’t we have a WGWB? I’d enjoy a little Banjo music. I do have a question and K&C fan may know the answer. How many African American or any other minority contestants have played an instrument on Idol? Seriously I’m curious?
I just wish Idol would have a Mother’s Finest night. For all us old coots that would be timeless and their music still rocks!

Rickster: from earlier this am, I have been thinking about your job loss. Seems a number of large co’s incl Home Depot are getting ready to have hundreds of job openings, many of them office jobs. On Channel 11 every morning, between 5:30-7:00 (kinda sux to be up that early!) they mention both job fairs and companies with jobs available. I don’t know what you do, but hopefully there will be something great around the corner for you.

On the job front, I’m in week 3 of an 8-week career workshop. I’ve got my profile completed at my church’s job web site, I’m working with the church employment center in Tucker, and am working on finalizing my resume’ which I hope to do by Friday. I know the “world” would tell me that I need to be frantic and worried and fearful… but I’ve just got this feeling of peace about the whole thing.
I think this is a blessing – if I just continue to look at it that way.
