Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” grabs the top of the Atlanta radio airplay chart for a fourth week.

The top 3 has been the same for several weeks with The Wanted’s “Glad You Came” second (235 spins) and Fun.’s “We Are Young” third (234 spins). Fourth place Maroon 5’s “Payphone” could threaten if B98.5 were to add the song.
Fastest moving song with the arrival of Matchbox Twenty’s “She So Mean,” gaining 34 spins on Star and 8 on Q100 in its first week out.

Atlanta is a little behind eh? That Gotye song was #1 on billboard charts for 8 weeks in a row while atlanta just got it to #1 about 3 weeks ago. Meanwhile that stupid Call me Maybe song is #1 right now on billboard and is still only 6 in atlanta. weird how our market works!

@Kev The compilation I use includes ALL radio stations, not just top 40. Because of frequency of play, songs that air on stations such as Star, Q100 and Wild are the only ones likely to ever top the Atlanta chart. If a station is played only on V-103/Hot or Dave or Kicks/Bull, that’s never enough spins to make it that high.

Rodney, you misspelled “triumphs” in the article’s title. Hurry up and fix it before the haters come around with their claws out.
Alternative does not equal 98.9

@Kev- While Ho is right, I will agree with you that Atlanta tends to be “late” – Especially on top 40 and alternative. New song by M83 out and “most” alternative stations are playing it but not ours….

Never had heard of Gotye or the song, never on the radio here, until Phillip Phillips and one of the girls (Elise??) sang a duet of it on Idol. Really liked their version, better than Gotye’s.

Interestingly, though, is that 99x had this song in regular rotation back in January/February, which probably syncs up with what was highly ranked on billboard 3 weeks or more ago. Of course, since 99x is broadcasting differently than Q100 or the River, it doesn’t appear to count.
Not exactly trying to be a cheerleader for 99x, lord knows they’ve had flaws, but one thing that can be said about that is that they’ve always been able to say is that they were ahead of the curve when it came to breaking artists considered “alternative”. Maybe more breaks like this will bring them back out of the translator level.
Q100 SUCKS

Why is Q100 adding Matchbox 20??? Worst top 40 radio station EVER… it’s more like a Hot AC station. When will Atlanta get a REAL CHR station?
