Kim Zolciak sheds her wig for the first time on TV, boosts ratings

Like Norm’s wife on “Cheers” or Howard Wolowitz’s loud-mouthed mom on “The Big Bang Theory,” Kim Zolciak’s natural hair was never seen – until this week.
During the penultimate episode of her “Real Housewives” spin-off show on Bravo “Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding,” she finally revealed her real tresses.
Her hairdressers Nicki and Derek J recommend she go wigless for her wedding day. Kim was skeptical, of course.
“My wigs are part of who I am,” she said. “I’m not sure I want to change something up so drastically on my wedding day.”
On four seasons of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Bravo cameras have never shown her without her blond wigs, which have their own special names.
And shockingly, when she did show off her real hair, it didn’t look markedly different from her wigs, albeit less poofy. In fact, Kim looked arguably better sans wig.
“You look really good,” Derek J said.
But she refused to go au naturel for the wedding because her real hair isn’t big enough.
The 30-minute show had plenty of other drama this past Thursday.
She made up with her best friend Jennifer, who bowed out of being maid of honor because that’s not her style. Kim battled a cold and selected a $400,000 40-carat diamond bracelet, courtesy of her husband Kroy Biermann. “You can never have enough diamonds,” she cooed to the jeweler, not flinching one second about the cost. She’s battling the owners of the home. And she sets up a level of security befitting the Pope.
The wedding budget is clearly in the seven figures.
Just call Zolciak the anti-Clark Howard.
And the promotion about the wig boosted ratings 71 percent from a week earlier to a series high 2 million viewers. “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen, in an interview last week promoting his new autobiography “Most Talkative” (he will be at SCAD June 6), said he was very happy with the ratings. While Kim hasn’t brought in as many viewers as “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” the ratings clearly surpass most shows on Bravo.

The highlight of the show was when Antoine came to inspect the House that they are obviously behind in Rent on. Kim hair obviously has extensions added and a fresh razor cut compliments of Derek J so shes fooling No one. As for the $400k Bracelet they both have family members struggling Kim’s parents and Kroys sister so why not help them pay bills instead of throwing away money on a bracelet. Most of us work 8 years for that kind of money she can buy a bracelet but cant give Kandi $50 grand for tardy for the party.

Oh, and Rodney- Are there plans for the AJC to allow comments on all news, or at least the political stories? Or lack thereof. IOW, will Kroy blueball us again this year or step up and make some big plays like he did before, granted he’s no longer a starter. But getting Assante Samuel will help. And hopefully Ray Edwards will get his act together opposite an aging but still productive John Abraham. We also think Julio Jones will have a large impact this year.
