Donald Trump’s fifth rendition of “Celebrity Apprentice” featured its fair share of fireworks, including Lisa Lampanelli’s histrionics, Aubrey O’Day’s narcissism, Dayana Mendoza’s battles with seemingly every other woman on the show and 110 percent of Lou Ferrigno’s muscles.

But tonight, it came down to “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken and former late-night talk show host Arsenio Hall.

Trump named Hall the winner.  Based on what we saw (which was heavily edited), it was a close call. Aiken raised more money but Hall won both his challenges while Aiken split his. As for the events themselves, we heard very little critique about either of them so it’s hard to say what Trump’s line of thinking was. While …

Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stronger’ approaching two months on top of Atlanta radio

Kelly Clarkson joins ABC's "Duets" starting May 24.

Kelly Clarkson joins ABC's "Duets" starting May 24.

Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” is finally showing some weakness but remains No. 1 in Atlanta radio for an eighth week.

Star 94 cut back play of the song this past week, which made this a contest between Clarkson and Gotye’s “Someone That I Used to Know,” which is poised to take over the top slot in a few days.

Here are Clarkson’s airplay on four stations: 34 spins for B98.5, 23 spins for Star 94, 85 for Wild 105.7/96.7 and 82 for Q100.

[Clarkson will not only sing on the "Dancing With the Stars" finale Tuesday but will be joining John Legend, Atlanta's Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland and Robin Thicke in a "Duets" competition starting Thursday evening.]

Gotye is also heard on four Atlanta stations: Dave FM (18), Q100 (58) and 70 each for Wild and Star 94. B98.5 has not added the song yet, but if the station does, it will easily push Gotye to the front.

Another potential frontrunner at No. 6 is the fast-rising Fun. song “We are …

TMZ: Phillip Phillips’ kidney problems need to be treated pronto

phillip-top 3Phillip Phillips of Leesburg has been suffering from serious kidney problems. That’s no secret.

It has impacted him on stage and has prevented him from taking part recently in the Ford commercial shoots. I’ve interviewed him a few times during the competition and he said he’s trying to get as much rest as possible but admits to be perpetually fatigued.

But his personal issues haven’t stopped him from making the finals of “American Idol.”

TMZ  said his personal doctor saw him over the weekend during his Leesburg visit and highly recommended he get surgery immediately. But Phillip does want to win. So he’s sticking with the show until Wednesday and will then have surgery, which could take six weeks to recover.

A few weeks ago, he had a stent placed in his kidney but the condition is getting worse, TMZ said.

Read more here.

Nashville musician Bo Bice, who grew up in Cumming for part of his childhood and lived in Birmingham before he joined “Idol,” had major digestive problems …

VH1 reveals cast of ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,’ debuting June 18

love-and-hip-hop-atl

VH1’s new docu-soap, “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” a spin-off of the very successful original version, debuts June 18 with a cast mostly packed with names and faces that may only be familiar to Atlanta hip-hop fans. So to be broadly appealing, it will have to come down to personalities and chemistry. Will they pop? Will they entertain? Will they provide the proper amount of manufactured drama? We shall see:

- Stevie J., a three-time Grammy Award winning producer who has worked with Diddy, Jay-Z and Mariah Carey.

- Stevie J’s girlfriend Mimi Faust.

- Up-and-coming Latina rapper Joseline.

LILSCRAPPY10- Lil Scrappy (”Money int he Bank”), his girlfriend Erica Dixon and his mom, nicknamed “Momma Dee.”

- Atlanta rapper Rasheeda, who is still seeking a big break, plus her manager and husband Kirk Frost.

- Songbird K Michelle

- Trinidadian R&B singer Karlie Redd

There will be ten episodes.

The original version, which has already aired two seasons since its debut in March, 2011, regularly draws 2 to …

Sorry I’m so late on this but I was helping out my wife with a fundraiser for her nonprofit.

Joshua Ledet was eliminated tonight, creating a Jessica Sanchez/Phillip Phillips showdown for victory.

There were 90 million votes cast, which is pretty impressive.

This is the third year in a row we have a male/female combo. The past two years, the male won. A woman has not won since Jordin Sparks season six.

Why did Ledet get the fewest votes? My blog is not necessarily representative of the voters but his fans were not nearly as rabid as those for Jessica or Phillip.

The three judges and Jimmy Iovine seemed to favor Joshua. Jennifer Lopez will go down in “Idol” history with the …

Three singers, nine songs, no duets, and three hometown visits.

What did tonight’s “Idol” tell us? Not much we didn’t already know though we learned Phillip’s dad in Leesburg packs heat while he’s at his pawn shop. (Can’t blame him!)

All three finalists have serious skills. Jessica Sanchez, as usual, picked tough songs. Sometimes, she connects with what she sings. Sometimes, she doesn’t. Joshua Ledet is the king of consistency, even with very different songs, though he cannot help but over-emote at times. Phillip Phillips came across as comfortable and warm, especially his first two songs though I wasn’t so sure the final song worked for him.

Now who will go home tomorrow?

Your guess is as good as mine.

Just look at the poll to the …

Martin Prado and the Braves can now again be seen on Peachtree TV for Dish customers. Hyosub Shin, hshin@ajc.com

Atlanta Braves fans who happen to get Dish Network have missed a few games this year because of a dispute with Peachtree TV that goes back to early February.

But the dispute over “restransmission” fees is over. Dish and Peachtree TV, after three months, have resolved their differences and the network is back on Dish.

Peachtree TV is owned by Turner but run by Meredith Broadcasting, which owns CBS Atlanta. That’s why over the months you’ve seen crawls about the battle on WGCL-TV.

“We’re pleased on behalf of our customers – especially Braves fans – to be able to offer that channel again,” said Steve Caulk, a spokesman for Dish out of Denver.

Braves fans with Dish missed 10 games. Peachtree TV airs 45 games a year, the next ones on Friday and Saturday vs. the Tampa Bay Rays. You can see the schedule here.

Otherwise, Peachtree TV airs repeats of shows that can be seen …

Tia Mowry Tweeted today that she is leaving BET’s “The Game” after five seasons, two with BET.

I am looking forward to my upcoming projects…the release of my book #OhBaby [today!], season 2 of @TiaTameraShow on @mystyle premiering in June, and my @ABCFamily movie coming out in December…more to come!” love u so much”

Mowry, 33, was the biggest name on the show, which was axed by the CW in 2009 but resurrected 18 months later by BET to a whopping 7.7 million viewers. Those numbers have dropped steadily since then. The most recent episode this past Tuesday drew a mere 2.08 million, about half of the average …

CBS 2012-13 schedule: ‘Two and a Half Men’ moved to Thursdays

Two-and-a-Half-Men-Ashton-Kutcher-Taken-Charlie-Sheens-Spot1CBS’s longest-running sitcom “Two and a Half Men” will move to Thursdays after “The Big Bang Theory” from its perch at 9 p.m. Mondays.

After huge viewership last fall with Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen, ratings fell off amid complaints from some fans the show wasn’t as funny as it used to be. Nonetheless, Kutcher will be back.

Sophomore sitcom “2 Broke Girls,” which did well between “How I Met Your Mother” and “Two and a Half Men” this season will take over the 9 p.m. slot Monday.

CBS’s sturdy drama “The Mentalist” moves from Thursdays at 10 p.m. to Sundays at 10 p.m., taking over for canceled “CSI: Miami.”

Since No. 1 network CBS renewed 19 shows, it only left four slots open for the fall with four more for midseason.

Besides “CSI: Miami,” other shows that failed to make the cut included “Unforgettable,” “A Gifted Man,” “Rob,” “Rules of Engagement,” and “NYC 22.”

For midseason, “Undercover Boss” will return, plus a reality show called “The Job,” a drama “Golden Boy” …
