VH1 reveals cast of ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,’ debuting June 18

love-and-hip-hop-atl

VH1’s new docu-soap, “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” a spin-off of the very successful original version, debuts June 18 with a cast mostly packed with names and faces that may only be familiar to Atlanta hip-hop fans. So to be broadly appealing, it will have to come down to personalities and chemistry. Will they pop? Will they entertain? Will they provide the proper amount of manufactured drama? We shall see:

- Stevie J., a three-time Grammy Award winning producer who has worked with Diddy, Jay-Z and Mariah Carey.

- Stevie J’s girlfriend Mimi Faust.

- Up-and-coming Latina rapper Joseline.

LILSCRAPPY10- Lil Scrappy (”Money int he Bank”), his girlfriend Erica Dixon and his mom, nicknamed “Momma Dee.”

- Atlanta rapper Rasheeda, who is still seeking a big break, plus her manager and husband Kirk Frost.

- Songbird K Michelle

- Trinidadian R&B singer Karlie Redd

There will be ten episodes.

The original version, which has already aired two seasons since its debut in March, 2011, regularly draws 2 to 3 million viewers per week in its original airing.

These shows are basically variations on the “Real Housewives” theme. Ensemble casts of women with somewhat similar interests (or geographic locations) set to argue, bicker and occasionally throw fists if necessary to get air time. VH1 also has “Mob Wives,” “Baseball Wives” and “Basketball Wives,” to name a few.

this is reality tv this is someones reality they just choose to broadcast their business and we hide ours. i think mugglemiki said it best the enjoyment is watching and knowing somebody else is a mess makes your reality a whole lot easier.

Ms.Ykm you did not have to explain anything we can tell you are a mess by your comments.

@Ms YKM: I believe that Rick is referring to your abuse of the English language – as we’ve seen on many of these types of shows. “It can’t get no worse…” is a double negative and shows a lack of education or proper upbringing. “It cannot get worse…” might be a better choice of words. Seeing as how you didn’t seem to understand what he was saying, and repeating it in your follow-up post, is adding insult to injury.

It is my understanding that the series producers were somewhat torn at which particular City of Atlanta correctional facility to choose for the initial filming.Thankfully, it’s rumored that a twice incarcerated local rap artist named T-something was able to step up and assist with an appropriate location choice.

These ignorant thugs are slowly but surely bringing Atlanta down. This city is already full of aimless and crime driven thugs with time on their hands. What has happened to this city. I am moving to Detroit!

It’s all entertainment. It’s not a real reality show because it’s scripted sooooo if you like comedy tune in! I will be watching because I love comedies!! Watching the show let’s you know that just because you have money and/or fame does not mean you dont have problems! The people on these shows are real people with real life issues just worse because the producer is adding to it for better ratings.

Stevie J has to have lots of money, he has written several hits for artist… And was Puffy’s top hit maker at Bad boy. Not sure why he is doing this show though.

Maybe Rasheeda is still looking for her break because “rapping” is not music.

Looking I’m a rapper…..duhn duhn duhn (repeat same beat for entire song) “beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer, beer.” Lil Jon stole my song.

Every time I watch one of these shows, I want to make my wife breakfast in bed and take my daughters shopping. These shows (among so many other things) help me to STAY aware of just how fortunate and blessed I am. Vive la différence, if you know what I mean.

Oh.. another Hip/Hop themed show about Atlanta. How…. “original”. Please. They keep trying to figure out ways to make us look even worse than The Real Housewives of Atlanta does – and somehow they keep finding ways to do it.
