TMZ: Phillip Phillips’ kidney problems need to be treated pronto

phillip-top 3Phillip Phillips of Leesburg has been suffering from serious kidney problems. That’s no secret.

It has impacted him on stage and has prevented him from taking part recently in the Ford commercial shoots. I’ve interviewed him a few times during the competition and he said he’s trying to get as much rest as possible but admits to be perpetually fatigued.

But his personal issues haven’t stopped him from making the finals of “American Idol.”

TMZ  said his personal doctor saw him over the weekend during his Leesburg visit and highly recommended he get surgery immediately. But Phillip does want to win. So he’s sticking with the show until Wednesday and will then have surgery, which could take six weeks to recover.

A few weeks ago, he had a stent placed in his kidney but the condition is getting worse, TMZ said.

Read more here.

Nashville musician Bo Bice, who grew up in Cumming for part of his childhood and lived in Birmingham before he joined “Idol,” had major digestive problems while he was competing season four in 2005. I’m going to talk to him at 3:30 p.m. to get his perspective.

Ratings last night was about 16 million viewers with a 4.3 18-49 rating once final numbers are in. This compares to 21.8 million in the comparable results show a year ago and a 6.2 18-49 rating. The Wednesday top 3 performance show drew 17.68 million viewers and a 4.9 18-49 rating. A year ago? 23.56 million and a 7.4 18-49 rating.  That’s 34% drop in 18-49 and 25% for overall viewers, consistent from earlier this year.

Hi, Jenny! It’s been pretty lonely today searching for friends! Trump is a real piece of work. Clay so should have won. I rarely watch that show because of the creepy Trumpster, but did watch some of the last hour for the past few weeks, just to see Clay. But last night I watched the whole thing since, the stuff I usually watch was over. I flipped back and forth between it and HP Half Blood Prince (see it a dozen times, and still love it).Clay had almost double the money, none of the enemies, and his production was so much far better than Arsenios’s. But Trump had preordained that Arsenio would win. Oh well, Clay’s charity had probably 4 or 5 times the amount it’s ever had, so it wasn’t really a “loss” for Clay. What a great voice he has.

Hey Sam! I know, quiet day. Did you see, Rodney said people were on the Apprentice thread… thanks Rodney… I scrolled through but didn’t see any familiar names; must have missed them.

Glad Clay did well, but you couldn’t pay me to watch office politics… especially not with arrogant duckmouth donald (and Sam, yes my twin, he IS creepy! Funny that I had also written “creepy” in my first post, but then changed it to “condescending”.) There are quite enough office politics in real life…. So I’ll just stay here and chat with Sam and wait for an Idol thread tomorrow. :-)

I’m back in Georgia and looking forward to chatting with y’all tomorrow. Can’t believe that tomorrow night is the final performance night!

I’m back too (don’t ask). Seems like it is off season already around here.

Most folks wandered over to the Clay Aiken blog entry.

Actually, a lot of the regulars scattered because you are right. Most of the commenters were one-off Claymate fans peeved that Arsenio won over Clay. It was 2003 all over again!

JT….I noticed you were missing before I left for CA. What’s up with that? I know, I wasn’t supposed to ask!

Rodney, I checked out the Clay thread and yep, deja vu!

Well I guess if I really didn’t want anyone to ask I wouldn’t have said anything. I was sick. Very sick. Then I thought I’d try my hand at being dehydrated. Not fun, but I’m back now.

Hospital sick? Hope you’re feeling a whole lot better. Sick is not fun!

Only when I blacked out in public. They topped off the fluids then let me go. Yeah, it’s been a fun few weeks, but since Wednesday has been the worse. I’m feeling quite a bit better now, up for a one hour show Tuesday night that is for sure.

Morning!

My goodness, JT! I hope that whatever caused your misery has left the building!

Big doings tonight. Looking forward to it.

Mercedes sent this article. apparently our judges aren’t the only ones suffering from “stand up and cheer” syndrome:

JT: Did they check your blood count? The symptoms sound familiar – similar to me last year with the severe anemia! The fluid I was topped off with was AB Neg blood. Kinda weird, having someone else’s blood in your body, but I am thankful that person donated, since that’s the really rare blood type! (I went thru my whole life thinking I was “O” – go figure.)

Glad the show is only 1 hour tonight. Kelly’s performing on the 9:00 DWTS reveal show. There’s an E News clip of Kelly’s “new body” from the Billboard Awards (drat – didn’t know she was performing – where in the world is our font of news, Ms K&CF, when you need her?) – she’s lost a fair amount of weight – good for her.

Fortunately that wasn’t it Sam, all I needed were some IV fluids and to drink lots and lots.

I’m also glad that we get to experience the Idol they way it was supposed to be experienced: with a one hour performance show on Tuesday night.

Heck, JT, with only 2 people left, Fox had no choice. Bad enough we spent 2 hours watching 3 people. The level of “filler” is starting to get downright silly.

Looks like folks want a new blog entry home. I’ve created one. Just posted. As for filler, I think we’ve all become inured to that now. And yes, a one-hour show will feel downright speedy with six songs. I remember in the early years, “Idol’ could squeeze 10 songs in one hour… “The Voice” this past year would sometimes stretch out four songs per hour.

Phil apparently is suffering from kidney stone, a serious and painful ailment, but usually not fatal and he should be fine after the stones are removed…providing, he change his diet and get his system back to a more alkaline state, which, I doubt that he’ll do after watching him rave about the Mexican food that he craves. Nonetheless, I’m pleased that his condition is only due to kidney stones. My father suffered from them and I can assure you that they are excrutiatingly painful and I’m amazed that he can perform at all. .

Incredibly talented. Let’s all join together and say our prayers to God to keep Philip in his care.
