“Idol” host and Dunwoody High School graduate Ryan Seacrest is movin’ on up.

He recently put his Hollywood Hills home up for sale for $11.985 million.

TMZ reports that he has purchased former “Idol” judge and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres‘ home that was on sale for a cool $49 million.

Seacrest is not living beyond his means. Forbes in May 2011 estimated he earned $61 million the previous 12 months. I’m sure he made as much if not more the past 12 months given his gigs on E!, “American Idol,” AT40, syndicated radio, “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve,” his production company (”Keeping Up With the Kardashians”) and a recently signed deal with NBCUniversal that includes work on “The Today Show” and the Olympics.

TMZ said the property in Beverly Hils covers an entire block and takes up almost three acres. The estate includes a 9,200-square-foot main home, three guest houses and a koi carp pool.

You can see how the house looked when DeGeneres lived there here, courtesy of Architectural Digest.

His current home is nothing to sneeze at. It was once owned by Kevin Costner. Seacrest purchased it in April, 2006 for $11.5 million. According to Yahoo, the Mediterranean mansion has five bedrooms, a swimming pool, guest house, tennis courts and gardens. It takes up 8,172 square feet.

- In other reality TV show news, “Dancing With the Stars” will air its first all-star edition this fall.

- And TMZ says Demi Lovato will make a mere $1 million as a judge on “X Factor,” so the show could afford to pay Britney Spears a cool $15 million.

Not sure if I’m even going to watch the show tonight. Do I really want to sit through 50 or so minutes of commercials, filler and hyperbole to watch six performances from people I don’t enjoy hearing sing?

I’ll save you all the trouble.

Jessica:

Randy: That was aMAzing. The little runs… the way you went up there and hit those notes? Just aMAzing. Vote for this girl, people!

J-Lo: I keep forgetting you’re only 16. You’re still just 16, right? I got goosies.

ST: That was beautiful Over the top. Just beautiful.

Joshua:

Randy: Holy smokin’ molten lava hot! That was just dope, dawg. One of the best performances in the history of music! Vote for this dude, people!

J-Lo: I just wanna punch you. You just make me feel so – I don’t know… it’s just amazing watching you sing.

Steven: That was beautiful Over the top. Just beautiful.

Phillip:

Randy: Dude… you know who you are as an artist and stay in your sweet spot.

J-Lo: You’re an original. You are who you are.

Steven: That was beautiful Over the top. Just beautiful.

Hey Patrick…..thanks, I’ll take that under advisement.

I just heard that a study was done on the brain activity of people who frequent social media on the web. Apparently it is just as satisfying to our brains as other “addictions” like smoking or alcoholism or over-eating. Frankly, I think chatting on a web site is a lot healthier than those other things as well.

Looks like Mo paid a visit to the DWTS site, and someone asked if his post was in English or if he’d left out some words as it didn’t make any sense. And it was just a wee little post of a couple lines. What would that guy make of some of the ones that have been left on this site?!

Rickster: got your barf bag ready for tonight/tomorrow night? I think I’ll buy ear plugs for the Joshua “performances” tonight.

I hope JLo is really leaving and not fishing for more undeserved/unearned money! It was funny seeing her and Cameron Diaz sitting side by size, Ms “overtan, girded up too tight, made up to the gills” JLo vs the gently made up, nicely fitted clothes of CD. What a contrast (and I’m not really a CD fan).

Oh… you know… I forgot. The performance show is two hours!

That means 105 minutes of commercials, filler & hyperbole for only 15 minutes of singing from people to whom I don’t enjoy listening.

Actually the 120 minutes will distill down to approximately 10 minutes of actual performances with only 3 participants if they stick to 2 songs each. Additional trio maybe? If they are considering tweaking the show as advertised I would hope for contestants having to sing entire songs, especially at this stage, and limit the clowns to 100 seconds. Challenging them to learn all of the lyrics and allowing the buildup required of say, Bohemian Rhapsody would help weed out the incompetent sooner.

While I appreciate the “live” aspect of the format since they have ballooned this thing out to 2 hours it begs for the DVR treatment and the advertisers have to realize that by now.

I think they do three songs: 1 selected by the judges, 1 selected by the producers (Nigel & Co) and one the contestant chooses.

But I may be wrong on that.

Deirdre

Vast, they are singing three songs each. Their choice, judges’ choice and Jimmy’s choice.

Let’s also put the blame for 2 hour shows squarely on Fox’s shoulders. Fox has a ratings juggernaut in Idol and wants them on as often and as long as possible.

That being said, next week’s finale sing-off on Tuesday night will only be 1 hour.

Ouch – everyone who’s attempted “Imagine” has screwed it up royally! Hate to hear it’s gonna be butchered again, and I’m sure it’ll be by the wailing screamer. If so, guess I’ll look more kindly on the icky version David A did.

I don’t know “Beggin” – must be a pretty obscure 4 Seasons song.

Imagine by Lennon
My All by Mariah Carey
No More Drama by Mary J Blige
We’ve Got tonight by Bob Seger
I Don’t Want To Miss a thing by Aerosmith
Beggin’ by Madcon
I’ll be There by Jackson
Disease by Matchbox 20
I’d Rather Go blind by Etta James

Interesting list. I’ve bashed lists in the past, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. However, some of those songs seem like they would fit one person specifically and if those songs were picked by Jimmy or the judges then they are in essence creating caricatures.

If Steven Tyler picked the Aerosmith song… can you say conflict of interest?

Jenny

Sam, I thought David A did a beautiful job with Imagine! I loved it! :-)

I hope Jessica will do it. Joshua would scream and ruin it, and Phil would surgically remove the melody.

Of the song list, I like:

Bob Seger
Aerosmith
Etta James
I’ll Be There
Imagine

I don’t know the Mariah song but love Mariah in general, and as long as Jessica does it, I’m sure it will be good.

Don’t know the Matchbox 20 song (though I usually like them) but would bet on Phil. Hey, maybe I’ll enjoy it

Don’t know the Mary J song but it sounds like Josh, in a potential snoozer for me.

What is Madcon? I thought it first said Four Seasons (as in “Frankie Valli and”.) Don’t know that song either.

I still think that Jess has the best opportunity to win and knock off the “omnipotent” WGWG of Idol. If she doesn’t succeed, I think it further polarizes the show. If PP pulls this out, and the show has no significant changes going into the next season, performers that are not country or WGWG are wasting their time. In addition, I wouldn’t be surprised if viewers took a break. Why watch or even participate if you know who’s going to win?

I hear you guys in terms of LA Reid. Jenny, I understand a bit better about your perspective. For me, I appreciate that type of feedback, whether I agree or not. It doesn’t bother me that much to hear a little venom. What bothers me is a judge love-fest. uuugghhh!!!!

Rickster, thanks for the Grey’s trailer. Though I am almost scared to watch. And I am definitely scared about the finale. I have a bad feeling it’s going to be Arizona or Callie. (That’s not a spoiler, just my worry.)

For those curious, wetpaint has a LOT of semi-spoilerish analysis of who it might be. They’ve done *detailed* breakdowns on every character and why they might be the one. Google wetpaint grey’s and you can’t miss it.

Haven’t gotten many right so far, but this seems a little easier. My guesses:

Here’s tonight’s song list:

Imagine by Lennon God help me! Don’t even want to ponder this one
My All by Mariah Carey Jessica
No More Drama by Mary J Blige Jessica or Screecher(not likely – can’t imagine
no more drama from this dude)
We’ve Got tonight by Bob Seger Certainly Phillipx2
I Don’t Want To Miss a thing by Aerosmith No idea
Beggin’ by Madcon Never heard of but sounds modern, so Phillipx2?
I’ll be There by Jackson Certainly Screech
Disease by Matchbox 20 Sounds like Phillipx2 to me
I’d Rather Go blind by Etta James No doubt, Jessica

Sure I’ll be completely wrong, with the exception of Bob Seger

One more item for Grey’s spoiler fans:

http://www.wetpaint.com/greys-anatomy/articles/greys-anatomy-death-watch-a-roundup-of-the-biggest-death-spoilers

Also, this quote from a Chandra Wilson interview:

And now, Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) is telling us to brace for something worse than we’ve ever seen before on Grey’s. Which is really saying a lot. E! reports that Chandra isn’t sugarcoating this — it’s going to be brutal, there will be tears, and we should be prepared for some heartache. “She says this dramatic finale compares to the hospital shooting finale of two years ago. It’s just as dynamic, but the ride is even harder,” says E! It’s almost funny to think that, two years ago, the Season 6 Finale (“Death and All His Friends”) seemed like the most gut-wrenching series of events we’d seen on the show.

Supposedly, at the end of the episode pretty much everyone’s storylines are left where they could be ended. :-(

My All by Mariah Carey – Jessica
No More Drama by Mary J Blige – Josh

I Don’t Want To Miss a thing by Aerosmith – Jessica
Beggin’ by Madcon – Josh
I’ll be There by Jackson – Jessica

SPOILER ALERT************

Watched the first six minutes of Grey’s. Can someone explain why three surgeons would wander off and no one would stay with Arizona to make sure she is OK? That may be the most poorly written and nonsensical thing I’ve ever seen in a television show.

Deirdre

May 16th, 2012

I wouldn’t blame Shonda Rimes for this. a whole bunch of actors on the series were questioning whether they would sign a new contract or not. By the time the series finale had to be written, she didn’t know who was coming back and who wasn’t.

Maybe it was her way of telling all of them to kiss her grits!

Jenny

May 16th, 2012

bknsty14, me too (about Shonda.) And if Rickster’s and my worries come true and it is Arizona, I’ll be even madder.

But, two years ago I felt the same going into the shooter finale… I was afraid I couldn’t watch it. But once it came on, I couldn’t tear myself away. It was one of the most riveting episodes they’ve ever done.

I don’t really even have a guess at the songs, except Phil/Matchbox 20 is obvious. I’d like to hear Jess do Imagine, I’ll Be There, and Mariah. (Hey… she could do the Mariah version of I’ll Be There! I always loved that one.) I like her voice best on the Mariah/Whitney type of songs.

I don’t like Josh or Phil enough to be very invested in what they do. They’ll sing; my interest will range from semi-interested to bored. Whatever. I just hope and pray Jessica makes the final so I’ll want to watch it.

I too think it’s Arizona.
