The two hours of “The Voice” tonight were padded with group sings, Justin Bieber, Lady Antebellum, Hall & Oates, Flo Rida, comedy sketches/promos for “Parks & Recreation” and “Saturday Night Live” and mildly amusing outtakes from the judges. (Because it’s all about them, right?) A couple of the metro Atlanta folks came back to sing a bit: Pip and Sera Hill.

Oh, wait. There was a winner, too.

Carson Daly didn’t start eliminating people until 10:48 p.m. He then dragged out it by interviewing the four of them. Four long minutes later, he finally announced the fourth place finisher: Chris Mann.

Daly said only 0.25 percent separated him from third place, Tony Lucca.

Four percentage points separated the winner and the runner up, a relatively close race. Juliet Simms came in second behind… Jermaine Paul!

Jermaine certainly performed better than Juliet last night. That may have made the difference.

Like last year, I didn’t see this one coming. I just wasn’t a huge fan of his. He was a good singer and a nice guy, but I just never saw him as a star. I was never that invested in the show so I’m not upset of anything. He really wanted it and he earned it.

Shocker!!! I’m not a Jermaine Paul fan, but congrats to him. If this was a football game, he scored with time running out. Juliet slipped a bit last night and it cost her. I love Juliet and she will do fine after the show. Guess The Voice has started a BHBG trend. LOL!

That is what I said, Rodney. He wanted it more than anyone else. Like you, not invested so not disappointed. Jordis was my favorite and she was long gone.

“ And the winner of ‘The Voice’ is … Disappointment. Despite consistently strong performances, iTunes domination, (winning all online polls by a large margin) and strong buzz, neither Juliet Simms nor Tony Lucca were crowned the season 2 winner. Instead, the title went to Jermaine Paul”

What is NBC going to do now that The Voice kept dropping in the ratings all year?
Tonight’s finale was Terrible!
Way too drawn out, way too much boring filler, and the woman doing the interviews was so bad it was hard to watch.
Plus yesterday show with last year’s final four proves the show does not have contestant’s talent to be stars.
Today’s final four, only Juliet with the talent to be a star and she did not win.
Also for a show called The Voice, there was a lot of lip syncing in tonight’s final.
I predict The Voice will be The Flop next year.

This show has definite format and talent quality problems. I gave up on it 2 weeks ago. I doubt if any of those top 4 would have even been in the top 10 on American Idol this year.

As I mentioned in the past, this show had “mailed-it-in” for me, once we seen Jesse Campbell. Jamar Rogers, Jordis Unga and some others who were interesting to watch – get steadily knocked-off the show by the Judges. Too bad some of them were on the same teams as certain others and had to get rocked — a poor scheme of progression for this show

I see Jermaine as a good, hard-working family man dedicated to his work in the music business, and he will deserve whatever success the show will bring.

But I doubt that we will see a much bigger climb in the business, than we seen from Javier. They are doing what they aspire to do, so that is what really matters –

but the Pop / Rock / Hip Hop / Rap or Country genres are where the big dollars are made in the business, and it’s a stretch to see to see Jermaine having a big impact in that mix – but not impossible, with the right new songs, to possibly get into some soft-pop type of songs. like Alicia sometimes does. He might also do ok with an album of popular older cover songs.

The younger music buyer probably won’t be waiting patiently for an album to drop from those in the Voice top 4, But Cee Lo might do well with Juliet in the long-run, with some current Rock material. The right song at the right time is really a big part of the battle.

Worst of the top four. Not even the best from team Blake, then again, none of them had their best up there at the end. Really need to change that format up.

As far as vocals go… Jermaine is a beast… No surprise he won.. Juliet and tony will both get signed somewhere… Althought Chris can sing his ass off, not sure he will get signed.. Unless it’s an opera deal…

Jermaine won? Jesse was so robbed Christina really messed that up big time with Chris Mann over Jesse we need to replace her with PINK or at least add PINK to the show or some other STRONG female that won’t be afraid to put her in her place. She was horrible to Tony and I am so glad that at least Tony didn’t finish last like her guy did lesson to all future contestants don’t pick Christina as your mentor no body can ever sing better or do anything better than her and if you do like Jesse she will get rid of you especially if you don’t kiss her butt! I will not be watching anymore. Jermaine was not the best singer .

Its no surprise to see who won the Voice. All 4 of them were great! But someone had to take home the win. I’m glad it was Jermaine. Chris Mann, vocally is in a league of his own, he will get signed! Tony Luca & Juliette they will get signed. I think that hands down! Jermaine was the most versatile singer and performer, that’s why he came out on top!

I thought for sure that Juliet was going to win it by a landslide. Now come on people, they can say that this many votes came in or that this percentage is what separated the contestants. It’s all blah blah blah to me. We don’t know if that was the true count! We go by what they say and who are we to question it? I agree with what the people are saying about the judges letting go of some really great talent! And Christina, what was her problem with Tony? All the fake kissy kissy stuff when she first realized who he was and then BAM! Out came the knife! Hmmm maybe he liked Britney more when they were in the Mickey Mouse Club. Well Juliet I with you the best of luck girl, wished you would have won!

Ok people stop with the hate. My favorite got the boot early but out of the final four the right person won. He was consistant no one else was. Oh am I the only one that noticed Christina is a lime-light hog? She took up all Chris’ interview time live on stage constantly getting her fat *ss up and running on stage.

I’m more surprised that Juliet made it this far rather than surprised she lost. Every time I’ve heard her singing backup on other bands songs, I’ve always thought she was a dude. she’s got pipes and all that, but you can only go so far on talent. I’ve met her numerous times when she was doing Automatic Loveletter, and I can say that her awful personality will do more to kill her career than any lack or talent or label backing.

Jermaine shouldn’t have won! He’s not really talented to me. It’s even worse that Juliet lost to HIM!:’( Juliet was WAY better than Jermaine. Just because Jermaine did a lot of crappy runs and hollered a lot doesn’t mean he was a good singer. I don’t have 1 Jermaine song on my iTunes. THIS JUST SUCKS.

I’m so glad Jermain won! I love his voice. And I’m glad that Chirstine’s team didn’t win, even though I liked Chirs Mann. I just thought she was too mean to Tony Lucca. Seemed unfair that a judge would pick on a contestant like that. That’s one of the problem with The Voice…voters can’t help get cuaght up in the competition between the celebrity judges. Not always fair to the contestnts. Also, the MUSIC IS ALWAYS TOO LOUD!! Can’t hear the voices. Ironic, isn’t it?

Idull Phan

Agree Donna – the music always overpowers the vocals…..which kind of kills the point of the title of the show.

All of these voices should succeed except maybe Chris Mann. Not much room in the business for a poor mans Josh Groban and Josh isnt exactly lighting up the charts. Juilet will find a niche in the whole “female bad girl rocker” fad. Tony is interesting seeming that his forte, acoustic, alternative style is reemerging in music trends. And the winner, Jermaine will fit like a glove into the R&B circuit. If hes lucky, maybe a Neyo type.

SO YOU WON THE VOICE?….in reality it means absolutely “NOTHING!” look at last years winners..so where are they? TOP SONG ON iTUNES? NOPE..Big MOVIE STARS? NOPE…This show is all hype for the 4 JUDGES whose records HAVE dominated the iTUNES charts MORE during this show! Honestly as a singer I WOULD never waste my time going on this show! If anything they WASTED WEEKS with horrible talent like Mathia and Erin. Too many faces on this show stayed way longer than necessary. And some of the comments are right at least Idol DUMPS them quickly. But I love how the AJC talks about Atlanta had talent on there..REALLY DIDN’T SEE ANY OF THE “IMPORTED” Atlanta talent make it anywhere near the top!

Jermaine is a backup singer. period. Juliette will go alot farther than he will even with getting 2nd. she rocks. Chris has a killer voice with strength and depth and that is something jermaine does not have either. definately not happy with choice

The Voice isn’t getting a whole lot of love this season. From eliminating fan favorites to overshadowing their own contestants, the judges have made one mistake after another and turned the show into a showcase for themselves rather than the talent.

The Voice and X-Factor place way too much emphasis on the judges and not enough on the contestants.

Funny you’d say that, D. Last night I had a friend who watches neither Idol nor The Voice regularly but has seen both with me over the past two weeks. He observed time and again last night that this was a show about the coaches and not about the singers. He kept saying “when are they going to get to the contest and stop talking about themselves?” I have been thinking the same thing every time I have watched, which admittedly is not regularly, but Idol is still superior to any of the interlopers.

My sister told me that Christina had worn a diaper – and she wants to preach about demeaning women??!! I also understand her contestant was dead last – I don’t care how good, glad of that, since she was such a b!tch to that former friend. And on the Bert Show this am, they said she’s put out some thing about how awful Adam is and how she thinks he should be fired from the show. The Bert people pointed out he’d not fallen down a flight of stairs drunk or been arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct, among other things, as the “virgin queen” has.

Now, my Idol friends, maybe we can cool it on the “WG” thing, as that may be the only stage left for WG’s. BG’s have won both seasons of “Voice”, and a BGi won the first season of “SF”. Though I would really like for a Gi of any ethnicity (other than hillbilly) to win Idol once in a while.

I think the person who should have won, did!! This was America’s choice they chose freely. Not everyone likes a certain genre of music and for too long we have been forced to listen to rock and pop as our top artist. Expand your horizons and learn to appreciate ALL types of music.Congratulations Jermaine! Now is your time to shine!!

Jermaine was the best singer and entertainer hands down in my opinion. Congrats to him! Deirdre I noticed that a couple of the judges were trying to overshadow the contestants as well especially Christine. During her duet with her finalist she did her best to out sing him instead of letting the contestant take the lead the way Blake did.

Out of the final 4 Jermaine deserved to win! My favorite was Chesa but she lost to the no talent Juliet. Unique does not always mean talented. The rating dropped this season because the contestants weren’t as good as they were last season. I didn’t watch faithfully this season as I did last. The judges were a bit arrogant this season especially Christina. I was wondering if she took a nasty pill or something.

It’s interesting that The Voice has more seasoned (older) singers performing more current material. However, Idol has more green/amateur (younger) singers performing mostly oldie classics. That has to account for something in terms of viewership.

SethT made some good points about the “hot” genres in music today, and how The Voice final 4 fits. I think the same point can be made with the Idol final 4.

Out of all The Voices contestants with star power, I think that Jamar, Jessie Campbell, and Juliet have the best shot. Everyone wanted Jamar to come back and perform for the finale’. He was the best performer of the night IMO. The pop/r&b market is ready for him.
