‘American Idol’ live blogging top 7 performance (part deux)

Here’s the spot to live blog “Idol” tonight. Else, feel free to post comments below. The seven singers will sing two songs each so it’s going to be a little tighter than normal when they tend to run six songs per hour. The them is now and then. This means songs from the past 12 years and a classic soul song. Some of the “leaked” songs include artists such as Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Earth, Wind & Fire, Dusty Springfield and Marvin Gaye in the past to Lady Gaga (twice), Adele, Alicia Keys (twice), Fantasia and the lone current male, Usher.

I know I’ve said this the last few weeks, but this week could be a train wreck.

After looking at several polls, I think the public has not really picked a favorite. I think the voting is so even that anybody could be in the bottom 3 or eliminated.

Train wreck, perhaps…boring guaranteed. I have followed “Idol since season 3 and am so tired of hearing the “oldies”…no matter who is performing.

@Carrie. I’m not so bad with the oldies, since there will be a variation in song choice and type. However, I do dislike when it is songs from one artist. I guess that would be oldies also.

Couldn’t agree more. This season we have SEVEN singers who could win it all. I think that’s the most ever possible winners.

Well Deirdre, technically last season during the top 7 week we had seven singers who could win it all. Just as we did every top 7 show. ;)

My guess would be that they will only eliminate one so that they can stick with the original schedule despite kicking Jermaine out.

1. I have a large theatre background and usually don’t mind the dramatic openings. But tonight? They definitely overdid it.

2. I think Ryan got choked up when honoring Dick Clark. I think Ryan really looked up to him.

3. Hollie is KILLING IT! Wow! She’s coming so strong out of the gate! Best performance from her by a mile!!

I love Rolling in the Deep, but it’s not a hard song to sing. She did well. When she enunciates the word “play” you can hear the “PLUUU.”

Good evening.

You can listen to Hollie’s version, compared to Adele, and there was nothing Pitchy except in Randy’s hearing aid. Haley also did a great version of this, and Hollie’s was just as good.

Hey everyone! Wow, Holly sang so beautifully, even nailing the high-octave notes without effort. I was crying at her performance. She sang it as well as Adele, I believe.

Colton’s doing a nice job, but this whole thing just kind of screams “poser” I hate to say. As Randy so eloquently quotes “It was just a’ight for me baby.”
