UPDATED: NeNe is indeed divorced
NeNe Leakes: still married? Divorced? Who knows?
On Sunday night’s episode of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Bravo flat out announced that NeNe Leakes and Gregory Leakes are divorced.
That would mean there had to be court documents stating that they have filed something, right?
REVISED at 1:26 p.m. EST, Wednesday, April 11 : I spent Tuesday fishing around in the wrong places. Gwinnett County. DeKalb County. Fulton County. No divorce filings in counties where either Gregg or NeNe have lived in the past.
Color me stupid. A blog commenter below told me she currently lives in Forsyth County. I just called the Forsyth County superior court clerk’s office and the administrative assistant confirmed to me the basics. She told me NeNe filed for divorce on April 29, 2010, during season three and finalized the divorce September 29, 2011, after season four had finished shooting.
Her attorney Randall Kessler had provided me no guidance, saying NeNe had told him not to say anything, But I can say it now: all rumors that the divorce was a sham apparently were just that – rumors.
The couple married in 1997 in Athens, where NeNe grew up and have one son together, Brentt. NeNe’s older son Bryce is from a previous relationship.
NeNe herself has not been seen publicly dating anybody else. At one point during the show, which was taped mostly in the spring and summer last year, she said she did have sex with Gregg. At least twice, New York entrepreneur John Kolaj flirted with her on the show and showered her with gifts, but she was clearly not interested in him romantically. Gregg himself has only shown up on the show a couple of times, usually in relation to her older son Bryce’s problems.
I have also confirmed with NeNe’s manager that she will be back for season five of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” which is curious given her rather blase attitude toward most of the cast members. There is an uncomfirmed story on newsone.com that NeNe is the most compensated of the housewives, in the neighborhood of $1 million this past season, which may be a good reason to go back even as her acting career takes off. Other sites have also said Sheree Whitfield is out though I have been unable to confirm that.
In the meantime, the show’s ratings Sunday for the season finale improved from a season-low 2 million viewers a week earlier to 2.3 million. The show averaged 2.84 million viewers during the 20 regular episodes this season. That is only slightly below last year’s 2.97 million viewers who watched the 16 regular episodes of season three.
But the trend line is not good. While “Real Housewives” last year started in the low 2 millions and rose to a whopping 4.38 million for the season finale, the show this past season started sagging mid-season. The show averaged 3.1 million viewers the first nine episodes but fell to 2.6 million the past 11 (which included one outlier of 3.95 million episode 12.)
The first of the two reunion shows hit the airwaves this Sunday.

Nene has not changed one bit from the 1st episode of Season 1 up until the season finale of the last season..not one single bit, for all those claiming money changed her..it’s her persona that got her money to begin with. It’s just typical of people to hate on you more, the more famous and rich you get, and many of you exemplify that jealousy. She, Kim, and Sheree have been at it since the show first aired..real talk, check the re-runs…BAM!!

The Real Housewives of Atlanta was at one time a good reality show; when I view a reality show from season to season I look for personal growth among the women and a real friendship among them. I have seen a change in Nene, but the other housewives have remained the same and now hate Nene because she is making changes in her life for the better. Kim still depends on a man to give her what she needs instead of getting off her duff and getting it for herself. Sheree continues to have a bad attitude and feels like she knows everything. No one can get along with Kim or Sheree so the franchise needs to replace them with new housewives.

I find it hilarious when people take the time to read the article and post who cares…then come back again. Obviously YOU CARE lol. Trix are for kids. Anyway. I think Greg and NeNe will always have a love for one another, it is hard to break that after so many years of marriage. To me it’s sad when anyone divorces, but I wish her all of the luck. I feel with the guy John she may like him and just doesn’t like the cameras on her in this new relationship or her son or ex husband seeing this. Whatever she chooses I wish her the best. I wish Sheree would stop hating on everyone!

For thaose that has the negative comments. You heep NeNe MAKING MONEY….. If you do not like her why is so relevant for you to COMMENT on her. She said it best and that is GROWTH… Why not enhance herself if she got the money to do so. So for those calling her a man have you been there to know it for truth??? Those that hurl insults at this women are in my opinion JEALOUS, ehy else would you waste your time with a comment…. She and Kandi and Phadra are the only ones making money on here.
