‘American Idol’ top 9 live blogging
If you want to live blog (or simply use the comments below), you have two options. Tonight the nine singers will do songs from their idols. To fill extra time since they have stretched what should be a 90 minute show to two hours is some sort of medley of Madonna songs. Or something like that. Nigel has tweeted that Jessica will do Beyonce (not Mariah!) while Hollie will take on Carrie Underwood and Skylar, Miranda Lambert.

Given how much liberty the performers were given in choosing a song this week, the performances so far have been really poor. You would think that long before the semi-finals, each of them would have had four or five songs performance ready for this opportunity. Jen Hirsch and Eben Frankowitz must be scratching their heads at home wondering how these people are on stage right now instead of them.

More bedtime music from DeAndre, sung almost completely in falsetto – some people love that stuff, and find it unique and appealing.
J. Lo wants everybody to vote for him. The Judges are also trying to declare him the winner along with everyone else. He gets a 4 as far as I see it.
The Judges have no idea what the majority of “America” wants to hear and their critiques and “advice” are mostly useless.

They get on to Skylar for singing the same style. However, no one get on to Jessica for being a torch singer. I’m getting tired of the ballards!!!! Still a great voice, but, move out of your ballard zone!!!!

Haunting rendition of a great song. Jessica grabbed this night by its neck and choked it.
The performance was amazing, her showmanship was captivating. Vocals? Forget about it! Wow wow wow!

Jessica does look nice tonite – but another slow, forgettable song. Oh well, everything has been so slow and praised by the Judges tonite so far, (except maybe for Hollie), that they are all going to be #1.

I think tonight’s theme is really more about emotional connection to the material rather than vocal impressiveness. Yes, it is important to convey the message through the notes, however sometimes it’s okay to forgive vocal mediocrity if the emotion is there in its stead. For me it is. However I will say that compared to previous weeks it is a lesser impressive show.

Hi ho peeps! I’m watching a recorded version and am at Deandre right now. I agree with Deirdre…will NOT be voting for this kid. Yes he is good at the vibrato but it’s not relevant to today’s sound and he DOES sound out-dated. As for Colton…cannot believe some of the negative comments. I think this kid ROCKS! I am not a church girl by any means but this is a Christian Rock kid who looks good, sounds good and is good at heart. WHY would anyone slam him? He WAS the standout in his trio with Elise and Phil and his solo performance was spectacular as usual. I just never know what to expect from Colton. Every one of his performances have been unique and standout…NEVER the same.
