@James…ditto…Colton was unique and he didn’t perform a ballad as most everyone else did. A true artist…plays piano, sings, entertains. But Idol is a simple singing competition…anything else is irrelevant to the audience.

Heejun is probably the most “popular” of the boys – more YouTube hits, etc. I think it was a decent song choice, which didn’t push him into a skit or voice range he could not handle well.
No doubt top 6/7 of the boys.
Eben fills a paticular “slot” for the show, and I think a Judge will “save” him through a wildcard if neeeded. You have to be either a great singer/performer or a have another purpose/identity/Factor which draws voters or the Judges favor. It’s not all about the skilll of the vocalist – at least not yet.

Am I the only person in America that disagrees with the judges every time. Deandre SUCKS, Joseph SUCKS and the gentle giant SUCKS. The show isn’t what it use to be. Pure talent- Chris Daughtry-Adam Lambert-Carry Underwood. I had to turn the volume down when the gentle giant was singing. TERRIBLE!!!

I don’t disagree. Bet most of America thought it might have been him. Listen now, folk. He won’t make it all the way, but like XFactor felt they let one go, why shouldn’t AI go for the sensationalism as well.
No matter, his life has changed and honestly, that’s all I wanted for the tall guy. Hopefully, his ride will amount to something positive and lucrative for him and his Mama.

I don’t think the guys were at their best. Most picked safe songs and while they are in their seats watching the young ladies, they will realize how weak they really were. The judges comments are great, to a point, but they will quickly realize the young ladies delivered and will yield more votes.
Time to watch Southland.

Dierde, agree with your choices of who you loved. Except I might switch Aaron with Reed, in terms of voice alone, although Reed certainly has pizzaz. And Seth, you are right on in your comments for the most part. PS. Let’s all get behind our Atlanta dude!!! He at least DOES have talent, stays on key, and has passion behind his voice.

I would, first of all, like to say that everyone has their own musical taste and type of performer they enjoy and get entertainment value from – so I understand.
But I always vote – except I did not see one act that moves me enough to vote for any of them. This will be the first time I skip voting – to me, there is no pzazz to the whole night – some o.k., but not enough to stay around for another drink if I was at their show – nothing worth keeping on DVR.
This show has hung years upoon my face, dissappointment pounding like waves —–
But
, I am happy …. because the girls are on tomorrow night!!!

I have been a loyal Idol fan since the finale of Season 1, and I have to say tonight was SO lackluster and disappointing. The judges are WORTHLESS! Please do your job…and judge someone! Anyone!
Adele’s song ate Eben and spat him back out- Adam picked an overdone Idol song- Deandre sang the WHOLE SONG in falsetto (dude, variety/dynamics please…)- Jeremy was breathy the whole first half- Reed’s song sounded like a good idea on paper (big Casey Abrams fan) but I didn’t dig the performance tonight.
Colton is my personal favorite and actually gave a performance, with passion and dynamics and was different from everyone else. I loved Phillip x2’s version of In the Air Tonight, he totally made it his own, which shows artistry (it should also be noted I’m not a big Phil Collins fan.) Joshua is really good and doesn’t annoy me like Jacob Lusk did. And Jermaine picked a great song for his low voice (though I think Johnny would have had a better shot of making a strong run in this thing.)
The rest were forgettable (although Aaron gave a good stab at it.) I just hope the girls do awesome tomorrow, otherwise Idol will officially be dead.

Sure would be nice to have at least one judge who didn’t heap praise on every singer. I heard very little actual critiqueing tonight. Could we have at least one-half of a Simon Cowell who is open and honest?

@Jubie–Of course I’m not kidding. Phil’s version was way better than Phil’s.
I really am serious. I love Phil Phillips’ version. Randy’s criticism was off the mark big time. Phil and Josh are the two best. Adam’s in there. Reed may be in there, but its hard to imagine a dork of his stature winning Idol. Def got talent, though.

I wish I had done the same when the long curly-haired girl, I mean, guy sang. Awful. I sometimes wonder if the judges are being photoshopped into the audience, because the comments so don’t match what actually just happened on stage.

Oh, yeah–Colton is in the mix at the top. I’m not sure Jermaine is, but I would buy an album of his. Or pirate it, perhaps.
