Kelly Clarkson currently has 2 songs in the Billboard all-category Top 100 – with Mr. Know It All at #49 and What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger at #1.
Kelly’s duet – “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Jason Aldean has over 15 million hits on You Tube, and she has both Country and Mainstream fans buying her music.
Lauren Alaina has been doing some touring with Jason Aldean – she very recently opened a show for him in the MidWest and when Jason does the “Don’t You Wanna Stay” song, Lauren fills-in with Kelly’s part and harmonies in the song. I heard a recent concert drew 23,000 attendance.
The Voice has a lot more rough & dirty word snarking between the Mentor/Coaches, fine and entertaining for me, but a little rough if you have 10 year-old kids watching, I have a Ladyfriend who doesn’t let her kids watch it. but they have to bleep Steven Tyler sometimes as well.
In my opinion, I think The Voice has fallen prey to the idea of spending too much time on back-stories on the try-outs, and have wasted entertainment time with some bad choices to televise. That is the reason the audition phases of Idol got so long and boring to many.
Since 4 Coaches will have 12 apiece on their starting teams, it could get interesting, but there is some weak talent in spots already, just as Idol sent too many kids that took 4th place in their local Karaoke contest to Hollywood. But the top 42 on Idol right now may have some strong talent included.

Mercedes: from yesterday, I absolutely loved MTM, also “That Girl” (her clothes still look fab today) and “Carol Burnett” (some of her skits, ie Mr Tudball and Mrs Wiggins were absolute classics).
Jenny: there were some great songs back in the day. “Where the Boys Are” was sung by Kimberly Locke in the final 3 of Season 2 – and it was fabulous. Leslie Gore’s songs were a bit teenage angst ridden, but she had great melodies that you could really sing along with.

Good interview, RH! Agree that The Voice is fresher but Idol is still holding its own.
Seth T., I don’t find the comments between the judges on The Voice “rough” or “dirty” at all. They have a much more playful banter and you can tell they really get along – it’s all in fun.
Unlike, as we’ve said before, the disaster that was the interaction between the judges on X-Factor!

Rodney, re your question to yourself about “oldie” music not drawing the younger Idol demographic – hasn’t it been established that Idol’s audience IS “old”?
As for Andrew Dice Clay – people gave up on him and his crude sense of humor twenty years ago…has he mellowed or have audiences caught up with his crudeness?

Hi y’all, happy Kelly concert eve!
I can’t see the video (YT is blocked at work), so I can’t comment. That said, I agree with Highlander, the judges on The Voice are way better (even if they snark on each other) than XF. I get the feeling that it’s all in good fun. For example, last episode, when Blake was talking to/about Christina, he gave her a really nice compliment.
D, Glee last night made me cry. Call me a sap, but it was pretty relatable in some ways. Zarofsky really broke my heart last night. And as far as the cliffhanger, I had a sense of foreboding the whole episode. We’ll see how it turns out, but I felt like Ryan Murphy copied this from his first show, Popular.
As far as classic comedies, I’d have to say I love Three’s Company, Golden Girls and, showing my age, Saved By The Bell. My more recent favorites are probably Friends and Will and Grace.

Deirdre: Couldn’t wait – watched “Walking Dead” last night (while eating dinner – big mistake, re leg, and you know what I mean). I jumped more than usual, and turned my head more than once. Good episode, but I’m ready for the tension to be over. Rick’s wife – shut up lady! Rick’s eyes told a real story – hope what I read in them doesn’t happen!
Anyone know when “Falling Sky” starts back?

K&CF: Get that phone camera ready to snap something good for us tomorrow night! I was in a store over the weekend, and heard “Beautiful Disaster” (not Kelly’s) by Jon McLaughlin, who opened for Kelly at the Cobb Center a few years ago – brought back fond memories of that great concert. He was a great opening act.

I always enjoy the snarking between judges on The Voice myself, it’s kinda like among the guys in the band – —
it’s when Blake tells Adam to KMA (though all in fun) that my Ladyfriend feels uncomfortable in watching it with her 10 year-old daughter. Oh well, I’m sure she’s heard that expression many times already among school mates, her mom just doesn’t want her to think it’s cool or funny to say that at her age.
Top 42 last chance to survive tonight on Idol.

Sam, thanks for the info! I loved “Where the Boys Are” after hearing LeAnn’s version…. will have to look for Kimberly’s version! I didn’t watch Idol season 2 either (I started halfway through season 3), but I probably would’ve loved all of the top 3 that season.
Highlander, is there something we can use for sarcasm in the list Pitchy posted? Testing to see what this one does:
More old shows I loved… Carrie Bradshaw & co. (I’m guessing Pacman won’t let me post the actual title.) And Seinfeld, Gilmore Girls, Felicity… and who remembers Ally McBeal?

Well with all the jet-setting Rodney does, it doesn’t surprise me that sometimes he decides to crash in his parents basement. Either that or the wife banished him down there for daring to question the cost of hair care products. I got the impression early on that I was never to do that, maybe Rodney didn’t get that memo.
