TLC picks up Atlanta-based reality show called ‘Preacher Wives’

tlc-logo-300x225There are “Real Housewives,” “Mob Wives,” “Basketball Wives” and even “Sister Wives.”

Next up: TLC has picked up “Preacher Wives.”

True Entertainment, which produces “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” will handle this Atlanta-based series. The press release notes that they are “outspoken ladies who work to ensure that their churches run as smooth as Southern-churned butter.”

Information is sketchy beyond that. TLC said production has not begun and a launch date has not been made though it will likely be in the fourth quarter. I’m not clear if the cast has even been set yet. Spokeswoman Laurie Goldberg declined to comment.

EW got the exclusive on this news.

TLC has ordered a new program that follows strong-willed Atlanta women with leadership roles in the city’s religious community. The women on the show manage day-to-day politics at churches, help troubled or needy congregants, and hire and fire staff. Some even step up to the pulpit to sermonize.

The last reality show I watched was the 1st season of RHOA. I can’t stand reality shows but I will watch Preacher Wives. Church folk are the funniest people. Bunch of hypocrites that look down on you if you not up in a church every Sunday idolizing a preacher with his own jet.

How about a new show about reality show producers. The inside story on how they manipulate the poor idiots in front of the camera so they can generate ratings for their network. The producers will say the public is just getting what they want, the guilty pleasure of watching people more desperate than they are, but the producers and they’re faceless networks are the real degenerates.

@Michael. Is there was a show coming to the tube that would represent the “true church”, it would be more scandalous than anything on t.v. now or has ever been. “The Church” is often one of the worst representations of what God said people should be. Have you been to one lately?

@wacked out whitey. Did you say that because you are asking us to chip in $$$ on some moving boxes, or do you need a map? Either way, Wal-Mart can supply you with boxes for free, and obviously you have access to the internet, so maps are free. You’re all set. BYE.

This is disgusting. I can imagine the mockery of the ministry being betrayed.

They should do a show called ‘Preacher’s Boyfriends of Atlanta’ to commemorate Eddie Wrong and the rampant undercover homosexiosity that takes place in the the black christian church. Then again, catholic bishops don’t get a pass either because as we all know they certainly enjoy their share of boy-coochie whenever they can get away with it. Guess it might explain why the most vocal anti-gay rights crusaders always ALWAYS end up being closet homosexuals themselves. Yeah I said it…

@Rene I understand how you might feel Rene, but don’t you also feel that too often these days, the ministry is mocking itself? Lately, “The Church” has made the world question its sincerity and relevance. A sort of sick and sad reality show about religion is playing out in [and on] the evening news every week.

Most Preacher Daughters I know could teach Monica Lewinsky a thing or two about pleasing a man and raising [Heck].

(Frankly, their mothers are either only marginally better in terms of morality and/or completely clueless about what their daughters do.)

“I hope the rating do terrible, adn they cancel it. You already know it want be a true representation of the true Church. Father I pray that this show is cancel before it even starts in Jesus name.”

Dear Michael,

I have bestowed upon you internet access so that you may go forth and study grammar so that you never write such atrocities again. Television viewership is measured by ratings not a singular rating. I’ll let the typo adn go as a minor infraction and it will only cost you one of the seven teeth you have remaining. I am looking in your brain and I know that you were searching for the contraction “won’t” as in will not. “Want” is a desire to acquire (oops the Rev. Jesse Jackson is interrupting my signal.) In the next sentence, you should have typed “Father,…” Please lay off my son’s name especially if you are not going to use the possessive form correctly. Also, he is too busy working on his resurrection to respond to such a silly prayer.

Actually, Outspoken1, I would like to take you up on that $1000 bet. If Vanessa Long wanted the spotlight, she could have easily grabbed it when she filed for divorce from Bishop Long. But, because she has children with the man, she has chosen to take the high road. I can almost guarantee you she will not be a part of this MESS. Now, if she does, then I would be VERY surprised. And by the way, I can’t afford to pay you $1000 if I lose but I’d be more than happy to supply you with a $50 gift card to your favorite restaurant! :)

These comments look like everyone is afraid of what the wives might tell about church members. Maybe it would be good to hear their side of it. After all, church people talk about the preachers and their families all the time. :)

You’re making a big mistake and so are the women who will take part in this. Ratings might go up but things will get bad for them all. Look at how these shows have destroyed lives. It shows so much hate that so many feed on. Death and no LIFE! WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Why are you so angry my son? I bestowed upon you free will to seek an education. Do not blame others for your shortcomings. Please visit your nearest library for books on grammar. Also, I know that you are really Michael. God knows all.

I think this show is an awesome ida. We always honor the preacher but hardly ever his wife.
Real life of the First Lady is hard, only a few are graced with the anointing to handle it!!
