‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ recap: season 4, episode 12: Marlo vs. Sheree!

Loading ...Honestly, most fans watch these “Housewives”-type shows for the silly cat fights. Sometimes, they get physical. Sometimes, they are simply verbal. But you can hear the mewing from miles away.
Tonight, “Real Housewives of Atlanta” has the verbal tussle of the season to date, courtesy of Sheree Whitfield and “Housewives” wannabe/plant Marlo Hampton during the start of their 10-day trip to South Africa.
Hampton is edited in the most unflattering way this episode. First of all, trip organizer Phaedra Parks and her posse, Kandi Burruss and Sheree, are annoyed by Hampton just showing up, invited by NeNe Leakes. Team Phaedra also find Marlo overly gabby and obsessed with “etiquette.” Heck, she even annoying tests Phaedra on “etiquette,” then does the “buzzer” sound when she gets it wrong. Classy!
“I doubt Emily Post has a chapter on aggravated assault,” said Sheree, alluding to Marlo’s seven arrests, including one for aggravated assault.
“Blah blah blah! She never stops talking!” Kandi said to the cameras. She even said in Marlo’s ear shot. “This one needs a muzzle!”
NeNe is bemused by all this tension, probably because she caused it by invited Marlo in the first place.
The six women (including Cynthia Bailey) settle into Cape Town in a lovely penthouse for a day before going on safari. Sheree at first jokes that she wants to room with NeNe and Phaedra. Everyone is stunned silent. Then, waiting the proper beat, Sheree said, “Just kidding!” Maybe Sheree should get into stand-up comedy! Even NeNe found that one funny.
Phaedra the next morning gives a hand mirror to each lady as a gift for coming – except Marlo, since Marlo wasn’t invited. Mildly awkward but then it gets worse.
Sheree says a friend of hers in South Africa invited them to a dinner party but she only invited Phaedra and Kandi, not Cynthia or NeNe (or Marlo, for that matter.).
Marlo later that day confronts Kandi for not being friendly enough to her at a mall. “She gave me a phony a** hi and kept walking,” Marlo said. (This isn’t even high school level silliness. This is middle-school level silliness!) “I ain’t like that!” Kandi said, scrunching her face up. Though this argument dies on the vine, Kandi clearly does not like Marlo. That “hi” probably was “phony a**.”)
Then NeNe goes after Phaedra for being cold to her. Phaedra won’t take this type of bait. She denies any reason to be chilly toward NeNe. I can’t recall anything specific about why they never became buddies but they have kind of circled each other warily since Phaedra popped up season three.
Just before Team Phaedra leaves for Sheree’s friend’s party, Cynthia comes by and Sheree surprisingly invites Cynthia to the party – but not NeNe and Marlo. Cynthia goes right back to NeNe and Marlo to tell them exactly what happened. (Yes, this is middle school! Or maybe elementary school?)
NeNe doesn’t care. She didn’t want to go to some Sheree-connected party anyway. But Marlo sees an opening to generate some drama and maybe solidify her shot at getting on the cast!
She runs over to Team Phaedra and confronts Sheree about not getting invited. “I have no idea why Marlo is so pressed about going to the party. Marlo and I are not friends. What’s the problem?” Sheree said later.
Marlo dumps all that etiquette crap and gets down and dirty: “That’s why you don’t have a man. Go hang with the f****ts, you ugly stupid a**.” Oh, yes, Marlo used a nasty gay slur. As Kandi noted, “I don’t know etiquette but I know you’re not supposed to say that!”
The argument escalates into bizarreness. I can’t understand most of what is being said. And the editors don’t even bother captioning most of it. The crux is that Marlo accuses Sheree of being broke and pretending to be rich while Sheree accuses Marlo of sleeping with a rich 80 year old just for the money. They make funny faces and utter noises at each other.
“They’re speaking in tongues or Spanish. It’s becoming gibberish at this point,” Phaedra said.
“Is this how I look in an argument? This looks absolutely stupid,” NeNe said.
Cynthia said if she knew her middle-school actions would cause this, she wouldn’t have said anything. Uh huh.
NeNe even tries to break it up but all we get is a “TO BE CONTINUED.”
Question: did all these ladies pay for this trip out of their own pocket? Or did “Real Housewives” producers “help out.”
In other “Housewives” news:
- Kim Zolciak is the only one who didn’t go to South Africa. She gets a token scene. She’s stuck at home without Kroy (in training camp) but with her son and Sweetie. Her father visits and says how much he likes Kroy and thinks they balance each other out. Kim’s youngest daughter said Kroy told her a ring is coming soon. Kim is annoyed by Sweetie because she’s not helping Kim enough. (Possibly setting up for Sweetie’s departure?)

“Capetown looks very Americanized. I never imagined it would look this way.” - NeNe. Was she imagining it would look like a bunch of shacks?
“I don’t want to share no bathroom. I have to have my own bathroom. I hate sharing a bathroom. Uck!” – Marlo, sounding like a petulant teenager.
“Marlo should be grateful she has a place to lay her head. Maybe she could plan her own trip so she can have exactly what she wants.” – Phaedra
“How about this for etiquette? Shut up!” - Sheree, about Marlo
NEXT WEEK VIA THE TRAILER
We see some scenes of the women on safari. NeNe seems especially antsy. The fall-out from the Marlo/Sheree battle was not clarified. We do see Marlo throwing cash up in the air at a bar. And Phaedra gets teary-eyed hanging with poor South African kids.
RATINGS
Episode 11 last week drew 2.77 million viewers, slightly up from a season low 2.7 million a week earlier. The show, which airs at 9 p.m., is now getting beaten by “Kourtney & Kim Takes New York” on E!, which drew 2.9 million an hour later. It’s also behind the comparable 11th episode a year ago at about 160,000 fewer viewers.

His employer is the NFL! which is certainly not the ideal profession for anyone who has disdain for black people. I agree with another comment, he, like Chris Rock said expressing the sentiment of many, has a problem with “censored word” who can be any color.

I wonder if the producers of HOA is calling the shots, if so, they are sending Afro-American women back another hundred years.Its funny,but I can relate to all the back stabbing and talking behind each other backs and then grinning in your face like you are the best of Buds. Saw it at work for years and even among my own family members.People should stop hating and learn to respect and like each other. At NeNe is keeping it real.

It is sad that Nene, doesn’t know her history. She is very ignorant about the CONTINENT of Africa. Nene act like most so called African-American who don’t know Africa. Africa is a continent and not a country. It would be nice if they knew the name of the countries that makes up Africa. it must REALLY suck to be an individual who has absolutely NOTHING to offer the world besides a romp in the STINKHOLE between your legs, or the one in your head. I know these black women do not represent me or the city I live in. They are just acting for the cameras. People, I don’t know why everyone is getting their panties in a bunch. All of the Housewives shows, Mob Wives, Basketball Wives, Baseball Wives, they ALL fight. Who cares. They are getting paid to pretend. I would act a fool in front of the cameras too if I was getting paid. There are a lot worst ways to make a dollar. Ease up people, THEY ARE GETTING PAID. By the way, Sheree to me is a nice looking woman, Nene isn’t bad looking, Cynthia is kind of cute, Phaedra is average looking & so is Kim & Kandi.

Marlo and her “google” my charges is horrible. There is no fame is a knife fight. It clearly shows that she has no self restraint and should be locked up. Marlo is not able to walk amongst society as she is a threat to others. Jail is the best place for her.

@Truth- I feel sorry for Sweetie, she really needs to find something else. I was thinking the same thing last week…..DANG, Kroy all in her face saying by to the baby…that was also rude by the way. He should have picked the baby up and said bye. Also, Sweetie is an assistant NOT an baby sitter she actually doing Kim and favor by watching the newborn baby. As Kroy, honestly stated on the Andy Cohen show last night Sheree is nice. I know Sheree form the school where her son attends. She is nice. She acts just like any other parent at his games. She attends all of her son’s football games. She cheers him on and does not draw attention to herself.
I have driven by Sheree’s house twice today, they are out there with the concrete trucks and a pump truck. It looks like they are pouring the foundation. Lots of time people make sacrifes and live in Apartments during the construction of thier homes. I know one very wealthy family that lived with 3 kids in the garage and one room guest house above the garage for almost two years, while they were building their dream home.

Marlo takes the show in a bad direction. There is only so far they can go and her hood antics do not belong. She should be on Bad Girls Club. She also looks like a man and her weave is awful. She needs a stylist to layer those tracks. Lastly, only people who don’t shop at Neiman Marcus feel the need to tell people they shop at Neiman Marcus. She is making a fool out of herself. Marlo also appears to be nuts asking some one to google her. I agree. She will be back in jail at the age of 47.

Bravo, can you please give us a show with some dignity and class? No! Why? Because it doesn’t get ratings. I’m staying with friends and I watched this train wreck. The black women in Atlanta, GA who are the real money and power are never seen. They do charity work, travel, help out with the family business and don’t have the time to BS around. I’m taking about women like Oprah , the former wife of BET own Bob Johnson, and Melanie Hobbs the Girl friend of George Lucas (Star War) is a financial wiz. Have you noticed how Kim couldn’t live without Sweetie in the past seasons. No one could speak badly of her around Kim, especially NeNe. Now, Kim seems completely irritated by Sweetie. I think Kim is feeling a little full of herself now that she’s shacking up with some young buck. I predict that Sweetie will be gone by the end of this season.
A grown woman running off to tattle-tale on other grown women…WHO DOES THAT?
I thought it was quite amusing that Marlo accused Sharee of having a low self esteem. Any woman who sleeps around for money, name drops, pretends to know proper etiquette, and brags about her expensive material items couldn’t be all that secure in herself.

Great show last night!! I know a secret, and just watch closely…….Kroy is suspect….hmmm, Kim runs him like a track star, see them on Watch what happens…he is afraid to talk…Man up Lil Boy Kroy, walking around with that Baby carrier on………. and Marlo put She by Sheree in her place….the Smalls looked small, I wouldn’t let Atty Loose Booty represent me in a dog fight, she looks way too trashy, and talks about booty too much hmmmm…ever wonder why she married Mr Felon…..two peas in a pod! The evolution of the human being is on a downward spiral. Have we come so far that we can only go backwards? That stairwell fight remineded me of an episode Planet earth looked like a group of animals fighting for food…for a good two minutes there wasn’t a coherent word uttered just screeches and grunts. Bravo will be sued when Marlo the ex-con assaults one of the cast members.. They will do anything for ratings. Degrading is what the show is. I guess it’s fun to watch certain cast members act out the stereotypes that plague black women. Nene isn’t classy and those of you that think she is well lets just say I can pretty much guess that your life is a disaster. Anyone that looks up to Nene is just plain sad. She can’t even fake being classy! Marlo do us all a favor and disappear. Yes Sweetie does need a clue! Sheree seems like she is coming down to reality, maturation! Cynthia sorry but she is a lunatic.. Friend contracts, staying up Nene’s butt?? She is really sad. Marlo the criminal! I have no tolerance for watching someone who slashed another’s face with a box cutter pretend she is royalty! As a matter of fact I wonder what happened to that woman? I was completely mortified by the behavior these women displayed on last night’s show. What a horrible representation of American (forget African American) women. I actually lost respect for Andy Cohen last night, and I have been a big fan of his more than his franchises. Why would he let these women go to SA with an unstable woman like Marlo? A shady, narcissistic parasite who admits to having a rough life, but will proudly anhiliate anyone who won’t pretend she is a ‘diva’. A shame and embarrassment to Atlanta. They all made themselves look country, petty and undignified. Entertainment or not… some money is not worth it. I bet Ms. Marlo gets fewer invites to homes in Buckhead after this fiasco.

I know Marlo was placed on the show for a bit of action..but please…somebody “REMOVE HER FROM THE SHOW!” We are dealing with a felon(arrested at least 7 times) here, who slashed another woman in the face with a razor or knife. Unfortunately, six years later, the victim died. She jumped off a Florida bridge. (Suicide wasn’t connected to the assault.) However, it was reported, the woman was left disfigured.
If Marlo has this VIOLENT past–would hope she would not bring this type of behavior to the reality show. Something to think about.

Let’s keep in mind that Cynthia started this mess on the latest episode, and Sheree didn’t help the situation. It was very messy and childish for Cynthia to “RUN” back and tell the other ladies (NeNe & Marlo) what Sheree said. At the same time Sheree could have handled the situation a little better too. Big Props to NeNe for trying to deescalate the situation while Cynthia stood back like she had nothing to do with it. Kandi, Phaedra, and Sheree better feed Cynthia with a long handle spoon.
Another thing, while the other ladies are busy having cat fights and being two-faced, Kim & Kroy are on the come up!

Instead of being soooooooooooooo MATERIALISTIC…most of them (Phedra exception), should enroll in some courses relative to HUMAN BEHAVIOR and Black history. As for some of them going to an etiquette school–waste of time. You are either a LADY or NOT! (Comes from within.)
Bottom line:Total embarrassment as African American women. We should be viewing shows displaying positiveness about black women, and people. Time…OVERTIME for these types of shows being replaced with productiveness, role-models and , substance relative to everyone. Let’s move up the ladder, not down!

~Love Nene, Phaedra and Marlo (I respect that each of these women put their sordid history and their family issues out there before the media or their cast members used it against them. As for that other bunch (i.e. Cynthia, Kandi, Kim and Sheree) – they need to let them go. Their storylines are painful to watch, they are messy and their acting is just awful! You all realize they are acting right? lol
