Former Fox 5 ‘Road Warrior’ Stacey Elgin has twins

277054_250772771615969_38388329_nFormer Fox 5 “Road Warrior” Stacey Elgin reported on both her personal and public Facebook pages that she had twin boys Tuesday.

Right after midnight, she posted this:

Our angels have arrived! Photos and info of the twins coming in the morning! Thank you all so much for your support!

I will update this blog when she posts more details.

[UPDATE: 12/22: she noted that her babies came a little early, common with twins. Her latest FB note:

Thank you all so much for your support. It means so much and helps us get through this difficult time. Our boys came in to the world a little early and we are asking for your prayers. Dr's say they are doing extremely well but it's still a long road ahead]

She was let go from Fox 5 in September after two years as “Good Day Atlanta” reporter doing the live “Road Warrior” pieces. She’d show up at a restaurant or school or any feature-like event deemed newsworthy, even if it was  just 8 a.m. in the  morning.

There has been no official …

Atlanta TV ratings for November: Fox 5 up year over year; WSB adjusts to life post-’Oprah’

Outside of prime-time, "World News With Diane Sawyer" on WSB is the most popular programin Atlanta.

Outside of prime-time, "World News With Diane Sawyer" on WSB is the most popular program in Atlanta.

[UPDATE 12/22/11: I had earlier incorrectly referenced "ratings" with "shares" in several spots and have since fixed it.]

WSB-TV remained the dominant station among Atlanta’s four largest broadcast network outlets in November’s Nielsen ratings, but viewership slipped year over year with the end of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”

While “Oprah” drew a 7.8 rating in November last year at 4 p.m. weekdays, the Channel 2 Action News program that replaced it brought in a 3.8, nearly half the audience. Tim McVay, WSB general manager, said the station didn’t expect the news show to draw anywhere near the audience of “Oprah” but still felt good about how the 4 p.m. program has been performing so far.

In November, McVay said, the 4 p.m. news outperformed all its rivals in Atlanta and, in the target audience of 25- to 54-year-olds, WSB had higher ratings than any station in the top 10 U.S. …

David Archuleta taking two-year Mormon mission

10084836-large

David Archuleta, season 8 runner up on “Idol,” announced Monday that he will be taking a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Deseret News reported that he doesn’t plan to quit music.

“It’s not because someone told me that I’m supposed to do it, and not because I no longer want to do music, but because it’s the feeling that I’ve felt I need to do this with my life,” he told a concert crowd in Salt Lake City.

The mission will begin next year but he didn’t specify where. Here’s the announcement:

- The Daily Mirror is already spreading rumors that “X Factor” host Steve Jones is out. “X Factor” is denying it. We’ll know the truth soon enough. Rumors are that Nicole Scherzinger would be the host, as her original role was supposed to be. I’m not even sure she’d be terribly good at that role either. Then again, I’ve never been a fan.

- Appearances on the “X Factor” final include Justin Bieber, Ne-Yo and Pitbull and Leona Lewis. On …

NeNe Leakes joins ‘Glee’ for a few episodes

NeNe Leakes, in her latest effort to expand her base beyond “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” franchise, will play a swim coach on “Glee” for several episodes.

Photos of her on set leaked out a few weeks ago, but the announcement was officially made by “Glee” actors Lea Michele and Chris Colfer on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” Monday evening. Leakes then Tweeted about it.

Her character will play a rival to Sue Sylvester, played by Emmy-winning Jane Lynch.

The buzz is certainly off the show after mucho hype the past couple of years. “Glee” has seen a major drop-off in ratings from season two, losing more than 20 percent of its viewers.

Leakes last year tried a brief stint as an entertainment reporter at 11 Alive. Last fall, she became a focal point of controversy on “Celebrity Apprentice,” clashing with Star Jones, LaToya Jackson and Dionne Warwick, before quitting in a huff.

Based on what we’ve seen this season on “Real Housewives” and word since taping ended, she …

TV best bets with season finales of ‘X Factor,’ ‘American Horror Story,’ ‘Terra Nova’

A few shows this week are seeing their season finales and possible series finales.

Fox’s “Terra Nova” ends its 13-episode first season Monday with mediocre ratings (an average of 7.2 million live viewing) for such an expensive program. Fox will have to weigh closely if the numbers justify a renewal.

BET also has to think about how to deal with “Reed Between the Lines,” a new family sitcom it had high hopes for but  has fallen far short of expectations in the ratings. It’s averaging just over 1 million viewers per new episode. That show ends season one Tuesday.

And TBS will now weigh whether to give Tyler Perry’s “For Better or Worse” a renewal. Its brief 10-episode test run ends on Friday. It opened big with more than 3 million viewers, slipped down to around 2 million, then stabilized. If TBS does give Perry a green light, it will be obligated to air 90 more episodes.

Two other new hit shows concluding …

African-American talk-show host Warren Ballentine is gone from 1380/WAOK-AM after more than two years there.

He claims on his Facebook page that he didn’t make enough appearances at V-103/WAOK’s “For Sisters Only” event in September and that’s why he’s out. That sounds rather odd, to say the least, if it were true.

“The show is still on everyday across the nation. We lost 1380am in Atlanta but already have 3 other stations looking to add us in the ATL. We are still on everywhere else. Shame aok let us go, cause of egos. (I missed FSO and they felt disrespected even though I couldn’t make it ’till that Sunday) black folks what can we do? If u in the ATL tune via internet at http://newstalkcleveland.com/

The WAOK boss Rick Caffey is off today so I couldn’t get a comment about who might replace him. Caffey doesn’t normally talk about personnel issues or why he lets people go.

[UPDATE: Caffey on …

Kim Zolciak this season of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” so far has barely interacted with the other housewives. She’s had good reasons:  she’s been busy having her baby with her future hubby and moving into her new home.

At the same time, she doesn’t seem to have any genuine friends  on the cast. Her falling out with NeNe Leakes appears permanent. She and Sheree Whitfield seemed closer early in the show but not recently.  Her friendship with Kandi Burruss soured after Kim didn’t pay Kandi what she thought was her fair share for the song “Tardy for the Party.” I don’t think Kim has put much effort into becoming buddies with last season’s newbies Phaedra Parks and Cynthia Bailey (though Phaedra did give Kim a peace offering after the Apollo-Peter blowup at Kim’s baby shower.)

Then again, Kim is prepping herself for her spin-off …

Elle Duncan being off V-103

  • Bummer! I liked her in any capacity
  • She was okay on Ryan’s show but not a necessity
  • No loss for V-103.

Two sources affiliated with V-103 have told me that Elle Duncan’s contract was not renewed and as of last week, she is no longer employed at the R&B/hip-hop station.

She has been wiped off the V-103 website. And on her personal Facebook page, she has placed her employment at the station in the past tense.

I am awaiting word on whether she will be replaced or not as a sidekick to Ryan Cameron, who is now on vacation.

Duncan’s history at the station has been a bit checkered.

She started at age 20 with the 2 Live Stews, then joined Cameron in 2004 as a sidekick. In early 2009, she took over for Porsche Foxx as mid-day jock. Eighteen months later, she grabbed Miss Sophia’s slot in …

WE-TV recently held an unusual multi-city tour with event planner David Tutera to promote “My Fair Wedding” although the show is well into its fifth season.

He came into Atlanta last week at 103 & West. The publicists invited CNN, me, radio personalities such as Ramona DeBreaux at V-103 and a raft of blogger types such as Bossip targeting African Americans. Dwight Eubanks, the stylist formerly known as a recurring cast member on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” was in attendance as well.

“I’m just so blessed to do this show,” he told the media. “It’s the most incredible experience.”

At age 19, he fell into event planning, doing a bar mitzvah for $2,500.

Tutera’s clients now typically spend $300,000 or more on a wedding. On the TV show, he provided a sampling of what he gives his high-dollar clients to people who couldn’t otherwise afford them. For those who haven’t seen it, it’s largely a feel-good …
