Kelly Clarkson delves into political opinion and finds not everyone agrees with her. CREDIT: AP
When it comes to endorsements, everyone looks to “American Idol,” right? They at least have the “vote early, vote often” concept down pat.
Kelly Clarkson tweeted her support for Libertarian-leaning Ron Paul early Thursday and set off a maelstrom. Here’s the Tweet:
I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.
Some Paul opponents began attacking her selection, noting that he had a newsletter out years ago that featured commentary against gays and various races. He has said he didn’t write them and isn’t racist or homophobic. She responded thusly:
I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women’s rights, men’s rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he’s my favorite
As more people kept hitting her hard, she fought back in a very reasonable manner:
Man my eyes have been opened to so much hate tonight. If y’all ever disagree with something I say please don’t feel the need to attack me. I will listen to what you say and any articles or viewpoints you have when you say it with respect. Being hateful is not a healthy way to get people to see or hear you. I was raised to respect people and their decisions and beliefs and I hope you will grant me the same decency. If you don’t agree with me simply unfollow me. It’s really that easy. I hope you don’t because I would love the chance to hear what you have to say but if you’re so blinded by hate you can’t seek peace and progress then that is your unfortunate prerogative.

The problem is that white people will never have the same experience than any minority in this country. This entire country was set up for them by them. Any minority was not included in the Consitution, Bill of Rights and our current laws. Of course white people will have a different perspective and believe there is no racism, that everything is fair because it is all in their favor.
Black people started with absolutely nothing after they were released from slavery, they were stripped of education, knowledge and any type of property. White people took all of it and made it theirs. With that being said, there will always be a disconnect white and minorities will never see eye to eye simply because life experiences will ALWAYS be different in a lot of time in a negative way for minorities

Holden Magroyne – Plenty of people got mad. Ron Paul was one of them and he voted (sometimes alone) against all of Bush’s failed economic policies, military interventions, the Patriot Act, illegal torture, and the like.
Generalizations like the collective “YOU” just don’t fly. It might be convenient to make yourself feel better to characterize everyone as a believer in X or a supporter of Y just because YOU didn’t bother to find out what other ideas were in circulation, but some of us have been fighting the good fight for liberty and freedom for decades (just like Ron Paul) and have not cared whether the president or the candidate belonged to the republican or democratic party, but only cared if they supported liberty and freedom. And I can tell you from my perspective, there hasn’t been a single president worth supporting on those grounds for as long as I have been alive.

Okkkkk, am I missing something? So what she supports Ron Paul…that’s her right to stand up for whomeever and whatever she believes in. As a matter of fact everyone should vote for the person whom they truly believe in. I don’t care whom or what you support just VOTE! We all know that there’s going to be a winner and a loser. Some will be happy/glad/overjoyed and some will be sad/mad/disgusted, etc. And at the end you just deal with the situation and move on…IJS

Obama is killing the great country we love. It is by design an attempt to lower America from its perch. The Democrat/Socialist party of America wants to equalize the world and Isalm is the perfect religion to do that with their degrading of women and the the fact that they preach that non believers are to be converted, enslaved, or Killed! American Islamist think their religion is different…When its the biggest religion in the world and your right to freedom of religion is taken away because Obama succeeds in diminishing Americas standing…Its over! They just created the deadliest bird flu to date in a lab in Europe! We are so screwed! If America is strong the world is stable! The weaker America becomes the more unstable the world becomes! Nice job you idiot liberals! You too are being played the fool by your own party!

It is a shame to see the repugs attacking phantom liberals with fox news created hysteria and talking points. I will not vote for any republican again until they prove they are responsible and mature and can take into consideration all of our points of view before making a decision (not too pleased with the demos either and the same goes for them). HOWEVER, kudos for anyone who can support a candidate with reasons that are important to them and will avoid spewing hate to those they disagree with.

As for Ron Paul…When the economy crashes next year isolationism is the only way America can make it. Lets start now and prepare for the meltdown! If Obama would have not taken away our ability to drill for our own oil we might be prepared…Considering what he has done…When WW3 starts we are so screwed! Russia and China have said they will support Iran and we already know Isreal is going to attack them next year! Whats Obama gonna do with a world war????What a joke! The budget deal with the super committee he created was done so to create gridlock and force the military cuts to destroy our forces so when we need them most they will be diminished and we wont be on top any longer! Ron Paul has it right!

Although I do not agree with Ms. Clarkson’s politcal stance, I still ardently respect her viewpoint! It is utterly disgusting when people villify someone because they may support a candidate that they may not!! I don’t support many republican causes nor some of the causes espoused by the Democrats;however, I vowed to myself that whatever viewpoint someone else may hold, it must be honored. That’s one of the ideals within our democracy: The freedom of expresesion. Although one is free to castigate another, it’s just simply bad taste to do such and amounts to nothing more than disrespect. I suppose that Ms. Clarkson will limit her promulgations of her politcal affiliations and ideologies to a less hostile forum than the ravaging and malicious Twitter!

Get back to me when you actually have a point, or perhaps facts to back up your wacky conspiracy theories. I don’t support most of Obama’s policies, but I base that lack of support on facts and not delusional ramblings of socialism. Just because a radio or television personality dropped a line about socialism it doesn’t mean you have to buy it, hook, line, and sinker. It was hyperbole, which is all your posts amount to.

50% of Americans are buying into this socialist conspiracy…Also Tesla its happening right before our eyes! Are you really that blind Tesla. Are you blind to the facts that Obama is skewing the unemployment numbers. Did you know they dont include in the numbers of people that have been unemployed for a year? Did you also know that the rate woud be higher if they included the jobs that dont exist anymore? Did you know real unemployment is closer to 17%? Ive got facts Tessie but not going to sit here and waste my time with the ship of fools any longer! You are one to talk about facts! LMAFO!

Ron Paul is not an isolationist. He believes strongly in free trade, diplomacy with other countries, travel between countries, etc. He is a NON-INTERVENTIONIST and believes that it is not the right of the US to be involved in the internal political affairs of other countries, not appropriate or constitutional to occupy other countries with our troops and our bases, not appropriate to take money out of the pockets of hardworking americans to give to foreign dictators or government under the guise of “foreign aid”, etc. He certainly supports the rights of americans to send their own money wherever they wish and to support whatever foreign interests they feel are appropriate outside of war against the US.
Such a policy would significantly reduce the money being wasted by Washington and would return people and monies back to this country where they could be used to support those dependent on current failing entitlement programs while providing room for a transition away from these unsustainable policies. Yes, things are going to be getting a lot worse in the future and a refocus on america’s needs rather than financing the defense and occupation of 170 countries on earth would be a great start to restoring america.

“Obama is skewing the unemployment numbers”
They are being skewed the way they’ve always been skewed. Nothing new here, nothing socialist. Also, having socialist supporters does not make one socialist. Using your logic the fact that Sarah Palin has lesbian supporters would mean that she’s a lesbian. Obama is bad for the country, but he really is no different from Bush, and that is the problem I have with him. He is no more a socialist than Bush was, than Reagan was, than Nixon was.
Educate yourself first, then when people spew hyperbole at you, you will have a better understanding as to the message they are trying to get across.

You brothers and sisters ought to remember the slaves were freed by the GOP. Those deep south red-necks hosing down Dr. King and the freedom marchers all voted Democrat. However when it became inevitable that blacks would get to vote the focus shifted to controlling those votes by social entitlement programs. So no matter how free you are you will only go as far as they let you. Have fun sharecropping, I’m breaking north to join the 1%.

That video was bought and paid for by the people backing Ron Paul which you fail to mention or did you know that? They are asking people to send in more videos like that one and they will pay you.

The current media coverage attacking Ron is bought and paid for by the political elites who are threatened by his surge in the polls (the banking cartel, the military industrial complex, the republican leadership, the democratic leadership, etc. They certainly don’t disclose their bias.
The background and truth of this man’s statements will be revealed over the next weeks as more and more see this video. This is exactly what Ron always said he did as a physician and it is especially important as he is the only doctor running at a time when medicine is in such crisis and the only “solution” offered is more of the same problem-creating government. Ron favors freedom.
I look forward to the truth being revealed about this man’s experience with Dr. Paul.

Richard Joiner: December 30th, 2011 8:31 am “So she endorses Paul,so what? At least she is thinking. If she would have said Obama then nothing would have been said.” Really Richard? Chris: My favorite racist is the “blacks are the real racists” racist. Obama has nothing to do with this… there are numerous ties to racist and homophobic organizations, in addition to the racist rants in the magazine Ron Paul published. What don’t you get? You can’t just dismiss mounting evidence of bigotry just because it doesn’t affect you and yours. Oh, but I’m sure you were just as forgiving when the Reverend Wright thing happened.
