Jennifer Hudson opens a Weight Watchers Center in her name in Chicago. CREDIT: AP
Weight Watchers gleaned Jennifer Hudson’s wild-card performance in 2004 when she was a bit weightier and wore a “hideous” (as Simon called it) pink dress. And she duets with Jennifer Hudson 2011. It’s oddly mesmerizing:
Then you watch the original performance below and have to appreciate the video magic. Clearly, the CGI folks had to do a LOT of work to make the ad above even look halfway convincing:
Hudson will be at the Buckhead Barnes & Noble January 18 at 7 p.m. signing her new book “I Got This.”
- Ratings update: “X Factor” finale drew 12.4 million and a 3.8 18-49 rating. That’s not bad but less than half of what “Idol’ draws.

Quite the change. She’s also vastly improved her performance skills.

I think maybe people will now see that JHud was not yet ready for the big time when she was on Idol. Even without the weight change, she’s a whole different girl now than she was then.

It does make you wonder what effect her weight played in not only how fans of the show viewed her but how it could have played a role in her confidence. I thought at the time she was the best on the show. Fantasia, Lotoya London and Diana DeGarmo were good but Jennifer was special at times.
That said both Josh and Melanie are overweight to different degrees and they made the final. I do think overweight people are viewed as lazy by most people so it may be a factor in how people vote. I say that as someone who once was obese.

Has anyone forgotten that Jennifer lost her momma, and nephew. No one is the same after that. Jennifer is a totally different/new lady.

Nice to see X-Factor up there with the top shows. Of course, I’m sure they will cancel Idol, because it is junk that people don’t want to watch.
That’s right, a double dose of pre-New-Year snark. Good morning all.

I could retire right now on $5 million. Less than 1/8th of what Simon made for trying to infest our homes with television spakle.
Actually, right now I’m willing to bet that $1 million would do the trick, it’s a slow time of year.
