Melanie winning 'The X Factor'

So season one of “X Factor” is over and we will never have to watch robo-host again!

Early favorite Melanie Amaro upped the Mariah quotient to the very end and won the $5 million. (Oh, and that pesky Pepsi commercial!)

She kneeled in prayer and was attacked by her friends and family as robo-host tried to get her to say something. He failed miserably.

“She will represent this country. She is a star,” Simon said instead.

After she sang “Listen,” robo-host finally got her to croak out a few words. “God is good!” she said. “This is something I wanted all my life!”

Amaro beat out Josh Krajcik, the wonderfully sweet rocker who growled his way to runner-up status. Third place was Chris Rene, the rap singer who recently got out of rehab.

The votes matched the polls, including the one here, which had Amaro winning, Josh second, Chris third.

“We’ll be back next year,” Robo-host said. Well, the show will be back.

Ratings for Wednesday’s night show were underwhelming, considering it’s the final week. The show drew 11.1 million viewers, below the season average and the 3.3 18-49 rating was worse than last week’s 3.4. I expect the final won’t do too much better.

Clearly, this show didn’t quite have the “X Factor.” It needs to look itself in the mirror and fix things for season two.

“The X Factor” tried to outdo “Idol” by attempting to be hipper and sleeker with “bigger” stakes. Instead, I personally found the show frenetic, annoying and soul-less. It made me truly appreciate the charms of “American Idol” and “The Voice.” And we’ve learned that Simon Cowell isn’t all that when placed in charge, especially in terms of picking hosts and judges.

And somehow, Paula Abdul rose above the crud around her and came out as the relative voice of reason. You know this is Alice in Wonderland when I write something like that.

Now will Melanie Amaro create hit records and sell out arenas? I’m not so sure. But you know Simon is going to work his darndest to try to make it happen.

We also learned tonight that if Rachel Crow doesn’t get a Disney sitcom, she could host “The X Factor” next year!

Meh. Well, that was a big ol’ season of boring punctuated by strong discomfort from poor hosting and judge sniping.

Some good talent, though. I especially like Drew, Rachel, and Josh. I wish Melanie well, and I’m sure she’ll be successful.

That host shouldn’t just be removed from hosting. There needs to be some kind of additional penalty.

KupKake, yes. I think the whole season was scripted beforehand, with Melanie starring in a Cinderella story. And since the judhges are not that good actors it would explain why the show felt so artificial. I do feel conned.

I thought about watching X-Factor, but then it dawned on me that although I love American Idol, I loathed Simon and did not miss Paula either. AI was MUCH better without the two of them, so WHY would I want to regress? I got the impression that they were looking for a slicker, hipper, whole package type of person and I was a bit shocked to see the looks of the finalists. I’ve not heard either of them sing, but certainly they weren’t exactly turning my head with their looks, image or poise.
I feel like I missed out…not.

Having not watched the show, due to the fact it was all about the judges and too much of a reality show, I check in tonight just to see who had won. I had checked in a few times before to try and catch Rachel Crowe, but when she lost, dropped it entirely. Tonight was a joke. Apparently there were lots and lots of Hispanics watching, if nobody else. The winner has talent? Are you kidding me? I predict she will flop except with the Latin community but from what I saw Josh(who impressed me) will make it big and sell lots of CDs. Thank goodness, American Idol starts back up in January. X Factor and The Voice are nothing more than cheap pretenders!

Melanie did an awesome job, and she deserved to win. Congrats to her, I didn’t think Josh or Chris
could even come close to her. As for as what show is better X-Factor, or American Idiol it would be X-Factor hands down. Just take a look at the last 2 or 3 winners on American Idiol, and you decide. Last year winner Scotty could not fill a high school gym if he tried.

For once america got it right, and chose the better singer. I’m so proud of Melanie for what she
accomplished, and hope she goes on to make millions more.

DanJ, I wished that Josh would have just been silent the hole night, and not sang anything. I’m so glad that I don’t have to see him in a pepsi commercial.

Emily, you had the right to vote for who you liked, but I strongly disagree with you. Chris nor Josh
should not have made it that for. It was based on the best singer, that’s why Melanie won. It’s not based on someone beating a drug addiction, but I will say one thing he was a much better performer than Josh. To be honest I think that it should have came down to Melanie, and Rachel as the final two with Melanie winning it all. Rachel was a much better singer at a young age than both Josh and Chris, and I think that she will go on to have a better than both of them.
