They’ve done it before and they’ll do it again: Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson are part of the upcoming VH1 Divas charity concert.
They will be joined by Jill Scott, Florence + the Machine, Mary J. Blige and Jesse J. (Jesse J? Really? Does anybody know who she is?)
Taped at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom, VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul will air Monday, December 19 at 9 p.m. on VH1.
Given Adele’s vocal problems, my guess is she wasn’t available though she certainly would fit the bill.
Each diva (and diva is a compliment here, folks) will pay tribute through their own soul-inspired songs as well as the greatest classics that have shaped a genre. For someone like Kelly Clarkson, this will certainly be going back to her “Idol” roots. Some of her most memorable performances in 2002 were soul classics. And Hudson? She is all soul.
The event supports VH1’s long-running Save the Music program to fund music programs in schools.
Here’s Hudson doing “Spotlight” on VH1 Divas 2009:
Here is Kelly Clarkson doing “Already Gone” for VH1 Divas.
- So what the heck happened with “Idol’ judge and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler anyway? He was in Paraguay and ended up falling in the shower, resulting in four stitches, reparative plastic surgery and two dental implants. He explains to Matt Lauer of “The Today Show” that he had not fallen off the wagon.
“Frankly, I just passed out,” he explained of what, if not a relapse, led to his injuries. “I was in the shower and I got nauseous and I started to get sick and I just fell on my face. I just passed out and woke up with the water on.”
Check out the photo. He does NOT look good, even for Steven Tyler.
- “The X Factor” finished with 12.09 million viewers for its first live show Tuesday and a 4.4 share among 18-49, tying its best to date among younger viewers. That’s still far below anything “Idol” has gotten and short of what “The Voice” typically pulled in during the spring on NBC.

Who couldn’t see this coming? (JT… you’re back in the hunt!)
Kim Kardashian will file for divorce from husband Kris Humphries Monday, after less than three months of marriage.
Though their marital bliss was short-lived, the reality star is not seeking an annulment and will list “irreconcilable differences” as the cause, TMZ reported.
“Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins,” Ryan Seacrest tweeted in response to the report.
Kardashian, 31, married the NBA player, 26, at a star-studded Hollywood ceremony August 20.

If those older women went for mature men, maybe their relationships would last. Then again, some men never mature…

Trouble is, Mercedes, the mature men all want the sweet young things, just like these mature women do!

Gotta say, my hubby is 6 years younger than me, married 31 years and pretty frickin happy at the moment…may it continue!
I think the problem in the Kim/Kris marriage may be with the egos of the bride and groom.

D, six is not a bad gap. But, even the men who have had happy marriages and then something happens to the wife end up with much younger women the second time around. I have had long conversations with a high school friend, who has spent the past 20 years as a single man, after his marriage ended in divorce. He claims it wouldn’t make any difference to him if a woman he dated was his age (same as mine), but I got a look at his Facebook and his latest “former” girlfriend graduated from high school in 1996. Yikes! So, even though he says one thing, he actually does the opposite in reality.

Don’t doubt it, Harriett. And I think “ego” has everything to do with that as well. Just saying that the Kim/Kris age difference is hardly even a bump. She’s 31, he’s 26.

I think Kim was hoping that the NBA lockout would end sooner so hubby would be on the road more than he has been.

I keep threatening to make a straight across trade of mine for two twenty year olds. However, I think I’ll stick it out until I can get four twenty year olds.

Time for me to run. By the way, the Halloween costumes on Weekend Today were hilarious. They all dressed up as the Kardashians. Lester Holt was Bruce Jenner and Amy Robach was Kim. Jenna Wolfe was hilarious as Kourtney, too.

That’s exactly what it seems to be doing, Mercedes. The discussion that Rick and Lori had about whether it would be better for Carl if he died. The horrifying decision Shane makes to save himself and also to get medical equipment to a dying Carl. Can what he did be justified?
Haven’t seen last night’s Terra Nova yet. Will watch it sometime this week.

Good morning!
I guess I am going to have to catch up on The Walking Dead over the Christmas holidays. I cannot seem to work in time enough for everything. D, Terra Nova was pretty good last night–not great, but entertaining. There is a sub plot involving the son that is developing, but you will see for yourself and then maybe we can talk about it. I am still a bit confused, so I’d like to discuss.

I’ll let you know when I’ve seen it, Harriett.
Did everyone have fun with trick-or-treaters last night? I usually get very few here…houses far apart and uphill…..but my doorbell rang a lot last night. We used to live in a neighborhood(when my kids were very young) where there were so many ghosts and goblins that a car couldn’t get down the street. That was fun.

We only had one doorbell ring. We were watching TV upstairs with the blackout curtains drawn so no light could be seen from outside.

Going back to an item (comedians in drag) that was briefly discussed yesterday….
I though Robin Williams was quite good in drag in Mrs. Doubtfire.
