Chaz Bono, the most controversial celebrity on this season’s cast of “Dancing With the Stars,” took his last dance Tuesday night after getting the lowest scores among the seven remaining contestants.
Bono, a transgender man who was born Chastity, lasted six weeks, far longer than many people expected. His tango to “The Phantom of the Opera” gave him the lowest score this past week with a 19. This was the third time he had the lowest judges score but the first time his fans couldn’t lift him from the basement.
“This was an amazing journey,” he said after he was eliminated, “that really pushed me and showed me I could do more than I ever thought I could.” He later dedicated his effort to kids who feel like they are in the wrong body like him. “I wanted to show America a different kind of man,” he added.
The overweight Bono looked clunky on the dance floor, though he did show increasing confidence as the weeks went by. He never received more than a 7 from any judge.
Bono’s departure leaves six celebrities left, including Hope Solo, whose partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy defended her aggressively Monday night after Len Goodman said he thought her dance was her worst to date.
It’s fairly obvious that J.R. Martinez and Ricki Lake will cruise into the finals. The third person will likely be David Arquette.
Atlanta’s Nancy Grace received her best score to date with a 24, dancing a jaunty foxtrot to a “Spamalot” song. Carrie Ann Inaba was especially taken by her performance, giving her a generous 9 while Goodman opted for a more realistic 7. Bruno Tonioli met in the middle with an 8.

I don’t watch that show although I love hope Solo. I DID however see a “news” piece (maybe from you Rodney, or Yahoo) which showed first Maksim Chmerkovskiy busting out that judge and then a group dance. Hope is one hell of a soccer player, but from what I saw on that short piece of the group dance, she can’t dance for crap.
So what’s wrong with that? Everyone has their gifts, and Hope’s isn’t dancing lol.

But Chaz can’t escape the fact that she possesses two X chromosomes. I’ll grant that by all appearances Chaz appears male but genetically Chaz is still Chastity.

and some people will never understand that some people are just born into the wrong body. if you are born with a cleft palate, it’s all fine to fix that, right? or with spina bifida? fix that ! bad teeth or a crunchy nose? sure! it’s not particularly common, but it’s a fact that it happens. kudos to Chaz for being a good-hearted person. And kudos for Lacey. She deserves to be paired with a potential winner after 4 seasons of being given someone who could not possibly win. She’s a jewel!

Many of you gay people fail to understand that everyone doesn’t look at things the way that you do and we don’t have to either. It’s time for the word “hater” to be retired.People are tired of people trying to force people to believe a certain way on any given situation.
In my opinion Chasity Bono will always be a woman.I will not let anyone compromise my thought process on this issue or any other issue for that matter.I think it’s silly to refer to a “woman as a he just because she wants to live as a man”.Desires for Gays to live as the opposite sex still does not negate the sex they were born as…..

Maybe if some of you ignorant yahoos would keep the comments to the DANCING part of Dancing With The Stars and leave your prejudices in your own closets, we can have a more civil discussion about the show.
Yeah, it’s entertainment, but what blew up with the judges and Maks, Hope, Lacey and Chaz last night was something that finally had to be said. You could hear the boos from the crowd last night when Bruno described Chaz as a little penguin. He was trying to be funny, but he’s been doing subtle and not so subtle chubby jokes at Chaz’s expense for weeks. And Maks hit it on the head; Carrie Ann and Bruno give scores based on favorites and effort, not always on dancing technique.
Point in fact: J.R. had a good quickstep last night, but it didn’t deserve two 10’s. Ricki’s quickstep was better, Derek’s choreography was better and the dance was much more entertaining than J.R.’s Yet the judges picked his dance as the repeat dance this evening when it shouldn’t have been. He’s getting a pass from Carrie Ann (especially) and Bruno for what he’s experienced in life, not solely on his dancing ability. This playing favorites has always been apparent in past years, but is particularly noticeable this year.
Now, Maks shouldn’t have disrespected Len in suggesting he get out of the business, but the rest had to be said. Len was also right in that Maks was half the problem with Hope. His choreography was horrendous this week and Len’s point about her heel-less boots was spot on.
That being said, Chaz was on borrowed time every week, as his physical limitations of weight, inflexibility and injury were never going to get him farther than this week, and he should have been gone sooner based on dance ability, and nothing else.

No matter what you think of Chaz, Chaz is still a human being. I noticed them calling him names early on, and I wondered how he was going to take it. If I were Chaz, I never would have gone on the show in the first place, but she/he had a statement to make to all the people like him/her. There are millions out there that you just don’t know about, because they are afraid to let people know who they are. No one would choose to be this way, how could they. Would you choose to be humiliated, made fun of, teased or abused? No, and neither did they.

I don’t understand why everyone is so obsessed with Chaz’ gender identity. He has chosen to live his life as a man. Why not respect that choice and move on? No, his dancing was not particularly graceful or fluid — but that’s true of a lot of the dancers. You have to hand it to the guy, he got up there, worked hard and put his heart into it. Let’s see if you have the intestinal fortitude to get up there, week after week in front of millions of people, do your best at a skill you aren’t blessed with, and get pelted with verbal stones because of a gender mistake at birth.

Yes, some people’s minds don’t fit their bodies. I don’t want to think about how hard that would be. But if some of you still can’t understand that – read up on how many babies are born with indeterminate sex organs. They may be a combination, or not obvious. It is up to the doctor to decide what to snip or reconstruct. If they ‘guess wrong’, some kids will adapt, some wont.
And the brain isn’t an on/off switch. We all have different opinions of right and wrong, or religion, politics, music… I’d guess sexual identification is the same.

@ Tiberius…Did I say she wasn’t a human being? You see this the issue I have with people like you because you always try to distract from what was said by bringing up something that I didn’t say about the woman.

Well, after Monday’s DWTS, I’ve decided not to watch it any more. You know, folks, not everyone is cut out to be a dancer; goodness only knows I don’t have any rhythmn. You can certainly constructively criticize people in a nice way, but one certainly does not have to be nasty or humiliating to someone on national tv. I’m not really a fan of Max, but he did stand up for his partner’s efforts and she has been trying hard. I know it had to be difficult for Chaz to do this show, but I do admire his grit and determination and his grace. Bruno and Len could learn from him. ‘nough said. I’ve also written to ABC about the judges rude comments. They have lost my viewership:-(

Unless you’re fantasizing about having sex with Chaz Bono, why do you care about his gender?

Just FYI GOD DON”T MAKE MISTAKES!!!!! He makes us just want He wants us to be… Everyone tries to justify their sin, me included but being gay or trying to change your physical appearance is against the Bible and God. My daughter “professed” to be gay for a short period of time then she realized that she was so wrong and has seen the light. I think society pushes their sins on the weaker person who is just searching for something. I boycotted the show this year for this very reason because I felt like they were exploiting the fact of the transgender crap. People learn to be comfortable with how God made you. He made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Read it in Genesis. Being “gay” is a lie straight from the devil. Poor Sonny Bono is probably rolling over in his grave. It’s heartbreaking to see people do this to themselves. And then we let gay couples adopt children or have babies. God is for sure shaking His head at the shape the world is in right now. I truly suggest you coming to a loving saving grace knowledge of Jesus Christ before it’s eternally too late. Hell is very real.

I think someone already said it earlier, if so, it bears repeating. You hear many say that gays were born that way, so society should accept it. On the OTHER HAND, you have people like Chaz who were born a gender, yet they have surgery to be the opposite and society is supposed to embrace the change.
Chaz abviously did not accept her female-born body. So, which is it? Accept the way you were supposedly born OR not? ‘Cause its looking more and more like the case of “accept my ACTIONS”– which is quite different than putting it on one’s birth.

The folks who celebrate this woman wanting to live as a man are the moral relativists & enablers that are contributing to the degradation of our society. Tolerance is a good thing, but only to a point. I will not defend her choices, nor will I berate the people who find her choices to be terribly odd and indecent. I think it is interesting that a lot of you are saying that we should ignore Chaz’s transgender status. I personally do not care what Chaz chooses, it is his body and it is not impacting my pursuit of life, liberty or happiness. The fact remains however that he is not a good dancer and the only reason he survived six weeks is because of his transgender status, period. DWTS is not a dance competition, it is a popularity contest voted on the all of us. You can’t say on one hand ignore his transgender status and then embrace his 6 week survival, it is one in the same.

Lots of bible thumping in this blog. Doesn’t it also say something about judging others? Personally I don’t care if Chaz wants to be straigh, gay, male or female, it is Chaz’s choice and not for anyone else. If God detemines she has sinned in making this choice, then God will pass judgement, it isn’t for me or anyone else to decide. Her decision has no bearing on me at all, and most likely none on all you people who are trying to do God’s work here. If this decision makes her happy, good for her, and like I said if in God’s eyes doing so is a sin, let Him pass judgement, not you.

Why do people assume if you say something stupid you are a Southerner? I beg to differ. There are some pretty ignorant Northerner’s and
westerners.
So I hope JR wins. I just can’t get past Ricki’s past and all the stupid show’s she was a part of. But they are the best 2. Nancy just needs to go away…. far far away. And this picking on Hope needs to stop. She is not that bad. Len and Whats her name need to start being more diplomatic or leave the show.

@ songbird Not all who live in Georgia are ” Typical Ignorant Rednecks” Just as all who do not live in the south are ” Judgemental Jerks”. You are no better then the guy who passed judgement on Chaz. He judged someone for orientation and you judged someone by regional stereotypes.
