Former CBS Atlanta weather person Dagmar Midcap lands a new job in San Diego
Former CBS Atlanta weather forecaster Dagmar Midcap left Atlanta more than a year ago, distraught over a former boyfriend’s suicide.
The Vancouver native moved to Los Angeles, hired an agent and began seeking jobs. A couple months ago, in an interview, she said she’d prefer to do something outside of TV news but was willing to go back if need be.
Alas, that’s where she has landed: the NBC affiliate in San Diego.
She covered 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11 p.m. newscasts starting today.
“They’re so nice here, some of the friendliest people I’ve ever seen,” Midcap said in an interview this evening. “There’s a sense of family. They’re really easy going.”
CBS Atlanta, in comparison, was “a very tense, miserable environment,” she said. She spent three years at the station and gained a following with her warm, syrupy voice and sweater choices.
With her new job in the pleasant climes of San Diego, Midcap found a place to live three blocks from the water in Del Mar. “It’s a magical place,” she said. “I love the water. I love the ocean.”
“It’s really exciting to have Dagmar Midcap join our team and to have a local weather presence again, “said Greg Dawson, Vice President for News for NBC 7 San Diego, in a story posted on the NBC website. “Dagmar was extremely popular in Atlanta and we’re sure she will make an immediate and positive impact here in San Diego.”
MIdcap said they’ll allow her down the road to do environmental stories and pieces from the San Diego Zoo. They will also allow her to host TV shows as well if those opportunities arise. “It’s written into my contract,” she said.

every city is better then the nightmare called Atlanta!!what happen to what was such a beautiful ,calm,progressive city like it was in 1979 when i moved here??mean ,violent,congested,no customer service and i swear its hot as an oven here and getting hotter each summer!!and very poorly planned !!the customer service agent at seattle tacoma airport this summer even said that she heard atlantans are nasty and mean… after 32 yrs here and watching the negatives out weight the positives here ..i look forward to retiring in beautiful Seattle..never like dagmar but San diego and Seattle are heaven in America!!!

What happened was two fold..they tore down the public housing projects which had kept the scum massed in one place, and dispersed them to a section 8 rental in a neighborhood near you..
Secondly, all those unhappy jerks in the northeast moved here and brought their crap with them..

I don’t understand people’s hatred for Dagmar — I think her comments about working in Atlanta and people’s reactions to her going to San Diego pretty much confirms what she was saying. I don’t think she was that great, but some of you who even doubt or downplay her boyfriend’s suicide I guess don’t have any problems in your lives.
In my professional experience, I find that people in charge in Atlanta to be absolutely insane and very short tempered.

What was so great about Dagmar? She was pretty. She always seemed to have a sunny disposition. And she seemed really NICE, like the kind of woman your mom would like to see you with. But those twin assets of hers and the tight sweaters she used to wear meant that your dad would give you a thumbs-up over her, too.
There aren’t a lot of women like that in the public eye; Giada DiLaurentiis is the only other one I can think of at the moment. But haters — it’s the pretty, sweet, nice and HAWT that has all us guys making fools of ourselves over her. As my wife said, “you’d knock me down to get at her if you thought you had half a chance.”
Some fortunate SOB’s going to wrap himself around a wedding band and be waking up with her for the rest of his life. And I salute him, whoever he is, because he’s a better and luckier man than I am.

WGCL has never performed well as a CBS station except during college football. I figured CBS would hitch their star to another station’s wagon, but WGCL is in the midst of another ten-year stint.

Atlanta – short tempered and rude? What neighborhood do some of you critics live in? I have a large lot, beautiful neighbors, and am close to some awesome entertainment. To me Atlanta is just about heavan on Earth….geez, just go outside and walk around, this place is geooorrrgeouss!
