‘Rock Star’ chef Anne Burrell signs her book at Williams-Sonoma/Lenox at 4 p.m. Oct. 17

Cook-Like-A-Rock-Star-Cover-530x672Anne Burrell is a rising star on the Food Network. Her stint as a sous chef on “Iron Chef America” led to her own show in 2008, “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef,” then co-host on “Worst Cooks in America” the past two seasons.

Book publisher Clarkson Potter approached her to write a cookbook, which she dubbed “Cook Like a Rock Star.” She’ll be signing copies at Williams-Sonoma at Lenox Square Mall 4 p.m. on October 17.

Q: So what’s the purpose of the cookbook?

Burrell: This book is very personal to me. It’s my journey, why I became a chef. I’ve also put a collection of some of my favorite recipes I’ve learned throughout my career… Not everyone knows what it means to saute or blanch or braise. I’ve put it in everyday language. I want everyone to be successful to cook dinner and have fun. Cook with your kids. Cook on a date and make it sexy. Enjoy the process!

Q: Maxim magazine just named Paula Deen the sexiest female chef over ["Top Chef" host] Padma [Lakshmi], [Food Network hosts] Giada [DeLaurentiis] and Rachael Ray. Are you insulted you weren’t even included in the question?

Burrell: I didn’t even know! I would be surprised if I were on that list. Paula being the sexiest chef? She definitely is the sexiest talking chef!

Q: What is your take on our very own Alton Brown, who is ending “Good Eats” after 12 years?

Burrell: I’m a huge Alton Brown fan. We’re both ABs! Alton Brown. Anne Burrell! I’ve known him for years doing “Iron Chef America” together. He’s like the ultimate food nerd. I’ve learned a lot from him.
