People confirms: Clay Aiken part of next ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

american-idol-logo1The fifth season of “Celebrity Apprentice” features no Atlantans for the first time since 2008 but will include  its very first ‘American Idol” alum: Clay Aiken, according to People magazine.

This was reported weeks ago but it now looks like 100% for sure. Aiken’s music career has lost momentum over the years but he has kept himself in the spotlight with guest spots in recent years on “30 Rock,” “Phineas and Ferb,” and “Drop Dead Diva” as well as a stint on Broadway.

This reality show stint will give us the first chance to see him in a setting where he’s not singing, being interviewed or acting. I bet he’ll do well. He’s smart, engaging and creative.

But will be able to get along with the likes of Adam Carolla (comic), Debbie Gibson (1980s pop star), Arsenio Hall (talk show host), Cheryl Tiegs (model/actress), Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Therese Guidice (”Real Housewives of New Jersey”) and George Takei (”Star Trek”)? There are clearly some strong personalities there, which is what makes this show tick. Guidice, of course, is the NeNe Leakes of this year’s crew. Snider even showed up in the past “Apprentice” and looks to be this year’s Meat Loaf type. Hall will surely make his presence known, as will Carolla. Aiken will mix it up for sure, too.

-”The X Factor” was pre-empted last night due to a rain-delayed baseball game. Tonight will air what was supposed to be yesterday’s show, then Fox will air Thursday’s show Sunday.

- Check out Lauren Alaina singing the peppy new single “Georgia Peaches” on “Regis” that references fellow Georgia singers Alan Jackson and Jason Aldean:

Good night one and all. RoHo, you’re cranking them out to make up for lost time!

Bye, everyone. And, to the last poster on the prior thread–cool enough. Welcome.

I’m surprised she didn’t sneak Ryan’s name in there… since she called him “Peaches” almost all last season.

Have a great evening, everyone.

“Aiken’s music career has lost momentum over the years”

How dare you Rodney! Do you not know how BIG Clay Aiken is? Rescind that insult immediately.

“But will be able to get along with the likes of…”

Yes, I don’t see anyone there that he wouldn’t get along with. He’s a friendly guy, and for the most part those are friendly people. Especially Dee. In fact, this is one of the first celebrity casts (talking about dancing or Trump) that I really like. George Takei, is awesome. He’ll have ‘a Takei old time’ for sure.

Wow. Can’t wait to watch Apprentice for my very first time. Excited that Clay will give us a new single AND we will get to see him on TV again. Hope he makes lots of money for his Foundation on Apprentice. An amazing singer and he’s a really smart cookie for sure and I bet he will do great.

Donald Trump always seemed to really like Clay. Clay has an outstanding personality and is extremely bright and creative. I can hardly wait for January.

I don’t think there is a way for us to determine that Mil, but she is no Clay Aiken!

I’ve never watched Celebrity Apprentice before, but will probably check it out to see Clay. I really enjoyed him when he was on Idol so I hope he does well here. Maybe he’ll actually win this time. He should have won Idol.

Clay’s being on Celebrity Apprentice has caused quite a stir. Every single blog and article has used him for the picture. No surprise. I don’t think people realize he has a massive fan base, and he would be on the radio constantly, if requests meant anything. He was blackballed years ago.
Know that he is highly intelligent and witty, and by no means, a pushover!!! He is used to being bullied, and will use his business experience and charming personality to the hilt. Bring him on. First time ever for me to watch this show, and I can’t wait.

By the way, I loved Scotty on AI, and Haley was an excellent singer/performer, but Lauren played on my every nerve with her cutesy act. Think she tried to pull a Kelly Clarkson on us. She got way too much credit for some pretty bad nights, but I know she has a good recording voice, and will be backed to the hilt by Idol.

Looking forward to it!! Thanks for the blog.

Thanks for the blog, Rodney. Don’t usually watch Celebrity Apprentice but I’m sure Clay will do well for his foundation, the National Inclusion Project. He so talented and smart and has experienced a lot in his young life. Can’t wait! You go, Clay!

I think Clay will be a hoot on CA. He’s entertaining and clever and interesting. And I’m not even a Claymate! ;-)

Shouldn’t one be a celebrity to be on CELEBRITY Apprentice? Hopefully Carolla and Arsenio can make this season watchable.

Wait….is Arsenio still a celebrity?

Thought it was “Deborah” Gibson these days. I seem to recall her saying “Don’t call me Debbie!”

I like Clay, but George Takei?! Oh boy! It’s okay to be Takei!

Clay Aiken is the most under-rated musical artist/celebrity! He is witty, smart, has a soul-searing voice, is a philanthropist, & an adoring fanbase, most of whom have seen him perform LIVE!!! He CONNECTS with his live audience in a way that only a REAL ARTIST can!!!

I’ve never watched it either, but even though I’ve never heard of half the names being bandied about, I’ll watch Clay. I happened to see him on Kimmel once and he’s hilarious.

Wait, that is Clay Aiken up there in that striped shirt? He looks like a woman. Did he have a sex change or something?

So happy to read that Clay will be on Celebrity Apprentice–perfect choice. Hope he earns a large sum of money for the National Inclusion Project.
I think the picture is from the 2007 summer tour.
Thanks for the blog, Rodney. I’ll be watching CA on CA for sure!

Saw Clay perform in at Playhouse Square in Cleveland last February (for about the 7 or 8th time :) and if singing won the competition, he would definitely walk away with all the cash. He is so entertaining and doesn’t need any phony props for his naturally beautiful voice. He is funny, clever and one smart cookie! Go Clay…Hope he win lots of big bucks for his foundation. I’m going to be donating a bunch of stuff to his NIP in PA next Spring…Hope it helps to bring in even more money for his cause. So glad to hear that this has finally be confirmed!! Yahoo!!! :) Can’t wait…I watch every year but this year will definitely be extra special!

I think it is interesting how some of the Claymates on here are commenting about how popular Clay Aiken is. Actually, fans have left him by droves because of the way he turned on the fans. At first he was so nice, but later he kicked them to the curb. He has some left because he is talented, but it is no longer the huge fan base it was. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

Clay Aiken, really? I bet he’ll do suprisingly well. He is a very smart guy and I think he’s “dorkyness” won’t shine through as much because he’ll be taking on a different more professional/serious role. This should be an exciting season. When is the premiere?
