Eddie Money is new morning show host for The River

FYXAMPHITHEATER0420A_1Imagine when he does the two tickets to paradise giveaway.

Classic rocker Eddie Money has been tapped to do mornings on The River 97.1 starting Monday at 6 a.m.

The guy behind such radio classics as “Take Me Home Tonight,” “Baby Hold On” and “Think I’m in Love” will record the majority of his shows from his home in Los Angeles, but will come to Atlanta periodically. Money was in town last week to lay down a couple days worth of “Money in the Morning” shows.

Cagle, program director at The River, said the station wanted to “make a big splash” and started thinking about different artists who might make a good radio host. A friend of Cagle’s who knew Money approached him in Los Angeles and asked how he felt about doing radio. Money bit, and will now host a weekday show from 6-9 a.m.

“He’s got a natural knack,” said Cagle. “He loves to talk, he tells some great stories and has great information that people would never hear otherwise about being on tour with Led Zeppelin, being on the road with the Eagles, those kinds of things.”

As this is Money’s first foray into radio, Cagle will serve as a coach, listening to Money’s recordings and providing advice. The show won’t air live – at least at first – while Money settles in.

Keep an ear out for announcements about Money making some appearances in Atlanta to promote “Money in the Morning.”

His arrival shuffles current morning host Kaedy Kiely to middays. Dave Clapper retains his current afternoon drive slot.

Wow! I might listen to this now that Randy & Spiff are gone from 106.7.

I’m certainly not dialing over to Jimmy Baron!

My favorite Eddie Money video is “I think I’m in Love”. Great vampire video.

Corporate radio continues to put nails in the coffin of terrestrial radio. Dumb, just plain dumb. With an abundance of talented unemployed local well respected radio PERSONALITIES available, locally based companies take their business out of town. This will suck.

He kissed my hand at his last show at Wild Bills. Then I took some priceless pictures w/ the locals and The Gambler himself, Kenny Rogers!

N.W. – the program director goes by the name Cagle, and that is the first reference to him in the story, not a second reference.
Cheers,
Melissa

I was at this amazing show last year. If youre looking for some of the hottest ladies in the Atlanta area, this place was chalk full of them. WIth hits such as Take me home tonight and everyones favorite SHAKKKIIINNNNNN, all the other radio stations can just shut down since everyone will be tuning in to listen to the Money Man.

One of his best – but most underrated songs is “Trinidad.”

Eddie really needs to pick a different promo picture, and make sure that shot is never seen again by anyone. Pay to have it deleted off every site on the web.
