Erica Kane and company at “All My Children” are saying farewell to the airwaves today at 1 p.m. on ABC.
The soap will tie up some loose-end storyline – and possibly leave the world in suspense in case it lives on elsewhere.
ABC decided to cancel “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” due to declining ratings. Fans are understandably morose. Talk shows like “The Chew,” which replaces the soap, are cheaper to produce. Plus, younger audiences have gravitated to “reality”-type soaps such as “The Real Housewives” franchise and “Basketball Wives.”
“All My Children” may continue in cyberspace though Susan Lucci has so far declined to join in.
Once “One Life to Live” dies in January, only four soaps remain on the airwaves, including ABC’s “General Hospital.”

I am boycotting all of ABC’S stuff.. bcuz they took off all my children & will be taking my show one life to live off air… i will not be watching any of your channel anymore which would be dwts, grays anatomy, wipeout, the veiw, regis & kelly, modern family, ect & would rather give my ratings to the other channels. Untill they bring back these soaps!!! Its bs to take off a show that was very successfull…what about listening to your viewers & doing what we want!!! THATS TO BRING THESE SOAPS BACK!!! I BOO THE CHEW!!!!! IF I WANTED TO WATCH A COOKING SHOW I WOULD OF WATCHED THE DANG COOKIBG CHANNEL!!!! BRING BACK THE SOAPS!!!

there are a few reasons why soaps are dying one the expasion of cable television with news channels talk shows and the yuck infomerrcals but even more interesting is that 90 percent of women decided to stop watching it and edcuate themdelves and then go to work so they dont wind up siting on the couch all afternoon and become total losers

Why did’t they take a pole to see who wanted the soaps to stay on the air? WHY COULD’T they PUT OUR soaps on soapnet? I’M SURE WE COULD TURN TO SOAPNET. BUT they did’t ask!!!
