Forbes: Tyler Perry top-paid man in entertainment; Elton John fourth

Atlanta media mogul Tyler Perry is wealthy and successful. We all know that.
Forbes just quantified it, estimating his income from May 2010 to May 2011 as $130 million, more than any other man in entertainment.
That’s more than Simon Cowell (ranked No. 5), more than Brad Pitt, more than Leonardo DiCaprio, the only other actor in the top 10 Forbes compiled.
Forbes credited Perry’s five films he has made the past two years and two TV series. He is also starring in author James Patterson’s “I, Alex Cross” as detective Alex Cross.
Part-time Atlantan Elton John also made the list, generating $100 million in that time period and ranking No. 4, thanks to a worldwide tour.
In between are producers Jerry Bruckheimer at No. 2 and Steven Spielberg at No. 3. Dr. Phil is at No. 7.

Personally I will be Smiling Like Garfield the Cat when Obama returns to his family and enjoy his life and Leave that Cess Pool of a White house to some one else. No matter WHO is President. folks like yOu complain whine and cry.

Not my taste in movies….but success is success. I wonder how much money the haters on this thread made during the same time period. I also applaud Perry for providing a lot of jobs and experience for entertainment industry professionals.

I disagree Vote For obama cause he’sblack…..I am REALLY interested to know how 90+% of one race can vote for one person n an election and think they are marginalizing themselves.
Awhile back Maxine Waters of the black caucus (wonder if there is a white causus….probably not) was furious with Obama not paying enough attention to her balck constituents. Why would obama pay attention to black voters? Black voters should in 2008 they will vote for him regardless.

Truth Believer- 1) I’m sure you are just angry and don’t actually believe that I owe you money because my great, great, great, great grandfather wronged yours. Should I be imprisoned because of the laws that he may have broken at the time too?
2) Would you expect to paid in today’s wages or 200 years ago’s wages? Minimum wage in 1955 was .75 so how much would that equate to in 1830?? Let’s say it was .05. In a 40 hour work week you would be owed $200. 50 weeks in a year (2 weeks of vacation) times 30 years of work brings the total to $3000. I make more in a month of teaching school.
3) Since the North abolished slavery in 1820 and the South in 1865 who is going to go back in history to trace the lineage of who owes what to whom? People moved, families branched out, plus expansion, etc. Since their isn’t the resources or the manpower to track all of that I’d say it’s a lost cause. Move on.
4) It’s not the white man’s fault that gangbangers, “gangstas”, “hustlas”, and males with several kids out of wedlock are cool. Until 1)- 4) change your culture won’t.

From all the productions I’ve seen by Perry, it seems like there is ALWAYS at least one character who is strong, wise, and could be a model for anybody, any color.
Cannot all you who are nothing but critical of his works at LEAST give him credit for THAT? Maybe that is an underlying message: that amid all the nonsense and pitiness of life, there IS yet strength, stability, and character still to be found.

btw – I considered Obama because McCain was not exactly some lights out candidate but in the end I chose the candidate that was not in a racist church, did not have ties to terrosist Bill Ayers….did not have ties to felon George Soros.
I did not base my vote on race, but on what I could see. I saw one president who spent extra time in the hanoi Hilton to show his men he was not getting special treatment and I saw another guy tied to radicals.
