Bid adieu to "Entourage" Sunday, though a movie is always a possibility.
Two shows that revolved heavily around male bonding are closing their doors forever this week: FX’s “Rescue Me” Wednesday and HBO’s “Entourage” Sunday.
Both had long runs. “Rescue Me” lasted seven seasons, reflecting on life in a firehouse in New York City after 9/11. “Entourage” over eight seasons placed the spotlight on a fictional star actor and his buddies who hovered around him. Fans of each show enjoyed the banter and camaraderie among the characters in fundamentally different locales. While “Rescue Me” was far darker, humor was never far from its heart. For “Entourage,” if there was drama, it was mostly the absurdist actions of Johnny Drama.
On a far more serious note, networks are pouring out the 10th anniversary 9/11 tributes, documentaries, films, et. al. On the strange end, there’s one program that involves talking to people who believe they spoke to their loved ones who died on 9/11 after the fact, courtesy of the BIO channel. For greatest creativity: OWN has a special featuring the surviving twins of those who died on that day. Too much for you by Sunday? There’s always the season finale of HBO’s “True Blood” to truly take you away from reality.
And for especially insipid reality, check out “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” on Bravo Monday night to see how they’ve adjusted the show in the wake of Taylor Armstrong’s husband Russell’s suicide.

The first show you have posted for Monday is Basketball Wives LA, that show or should I say the Basketball Wives franchise is such a bad reflection on black women. Reality shows like that and that Housewives of Atlanta are pathetic. Realty TV has made pseudo celebrities out of people that have no talent and no class. The only people that idol worship them are people that have no lives and live vicariously through those fake wannabes. But, I do love Entourage and will miss it, I never did get into Rescue Me, I will watch old episodes online.

“When Pop Culture Saved America”!! This is hilarious. So it was celebrities who pulled us through 9/11! You can not make this stuff up.

I’m going to miss Rescue Me. It is one of the best shows to come on. Plus, it helped introduce the world to the lovely Daniel Sunjata.

Rodney, do you know yet if the season finale for Entourage will be 30 mins or an hour. Wouldn’t it sooooo cool to have an HOUR LONG finale?? 30 minutes just won’t do it justice. I’m gonna miss these guys.

It’s crazy that we get so attached to fictional characters. I’ll really miss all the people on Rescue Me.

Watched Entourage for all 8 years and it has sucked for the last 4. What does that say about me?
