Youngblood returns to Kiss 104.1 August 20
After nearly five months off the air, Youngblood will be back on R&B station Kiss 104.1 this Saturday morning starting at 7 a.m.
Youngblood, who objected to a salary cut in April and left, said in an interview that he and Kiss were “able to compromise, cut it in the middle and work it out.”
He talked to other stations but in the end, he felt Kiss was the best place for him to be.
Fans of Youngblood flooded the station with protests.
“We’re very excited to have him back,” said Tony Kidd, Cox Radio Atlanta vice president of programming who runs Kiss. “He’s been in this marketplace a long time. And people love the way he tells stories, the way he delivers the music. People view him as a friend. He’s a staple.”
Youngblood has hosted Spotlight Gold on the station for two decades primarily with soul classics from the 1960s and 1970s.

Hello YB my friend betty called me screaming, guess who’s coming back. I thought she had lost her mind. Who’s coming back, she said youngblood will be on the radio Saturday.We both started screaming. We haven’t listen to the radio since you been gone.WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work. Betty wants to cook you some mac n cheese and a potato custard. She also makes Organic Juices. I know you don’t eat everyone’s food she has cooked at some of Atlanta best eaterys. She is one of the cleanest people I know. GOD BLESS YOU.

I am not feeling my best this morning, and when I turned my radio on this morning, I was glad to hear a familiar voice youndblood, I was so happy, it put a little pep in my step……….so happy to hear he is back where he belongs on saturday morning THANK YOU! We as listeners needed to hear a refreshing voice to get us started for the weekend….MAY GOD BLESS YOU! I know am as a listener…

Youngblood when I heard Isaac Hayes I just don’t know what to do with myself, I knew it was true. You are back and I am so glad. It was like a celebration at my house this morning. My kids and grandkids even listen to you. And I was even more excited when I called to welcome you back and you answered. As I told you then now I may be able to get some cleaning done. Thanks Youngblood for years of good music, musical education and keeping us laughing. Don’t ever change, you have a gift and you use it well. You’ve touched a lot of lives and I’m sure Cox found that out during the months your were away. Thanks for doing what you do.

Now this is really good news! Wish I had gotten this message earlier, but I will be up and ready next Saturday with furniture polish and mop bucket in hand and ready to fold ALL the clothes! Just in case you did not know YB is an Atlanta landmark! I have listened ever since I arrived in 1985! My 24 year old inquired while visiting, “Mom you are still in bed on a Saturday morning and not blasting YB?” I had to break the bad news…but now YB is back! …the day after my son left…but he will have to try to listen via internet! I hope that works because that will give him a little taste of home while in the Netherlands for the next 10 months!

glad to have Young Blood back. no one tells stories like he does. I could clean my house and hear songs that i had forgotten about. Mitch was okay, but Young Blood is GREAT! Didn’t mind getting up at 6:30 on Saturdays. Wish he could be extended, but I will take what I can get. Love ya!

This past Saturday I tuned in too late and missed his reintroduction. Did he start out with “Soulful Strut” followed by Issac Hayes’ “Walk on By”? That to me is the best back to back play ever…it tells me to get ready for Blood.

Wow,Mr. Young Blood is back! I have to tell Grand Poppa because he stop listening to the station after Mr. Young Blood left.
I love that song he played called “A Prayer (For Peace) by the O-Jays(I think that’s who my Grand Pop said sing it).

Today is 8/27/11 and it is the happiest of my week. Blood is back and I am estatic!! I just happened to turn on the radio, just to listen and I heard his voice and I jumped for joy. Thank you management for finally listening to the people. When I arrived her from NYC back in 1998 and turn on the radio that 1st Saturday morning I was hooked. Blood is a griot and he knows what he is talking about. Mix Master was trying, but he didn’t fit; but he tried to do a decent job. But YoungBlood is the man. I hope he does a tribute to Nick Ashford today, because he usually does when a great passes on. Godspeed YoungBlood, you are loved!

Awesome!!!! I stopped listening months ago when I realized Youngblood was gone. It just wasn’t the same. This morning I decided to tune in and was so thrilled to discover Youngblood is back. It will once again be my Saturday routine to listen. Yay! Welcome back Youngblood ! We love you !!!

Thank God Youngblood is back!!! Just like everybody else, my Saturdays were not the same. Not to take anything away from Mitch, but there is only one Youngblood and has been for me and my daughter for at least 25 years; and now my 14 year old granddaughter. The three of us still crack up about ‘looking like Danny Glover in a negligee’! Welcome home Youngblood. You were sorely missed.
