Youngblood returns to Kiss 104.1 August 20
After nearly five months off the air, Youngblood will be back on R&B station Kiss 104.1 this Saturday morning starting at 7 a.m.
Youngblood, who objected to a salary cut in April and left, said in an interview that he and Kiss were “able to compromise, cut it in the middle and work it out.”
He talked to other stations but in the end, he felt Kiss was the best place for him to be.
Fans of Youngblood flooded the station with protests.
“We’re very excited to have him back,” said Tony Kidd, Cox Radio Atlanta vice president of programming who runs Kiss. “He’s been in this marketplace a long time. And people love the way he tells stories, the way he delivers the music. People view him as a friend. He’s a staple.”
Youngblood has hosted Spotlight Gold on the station for two decades primarily with soul classics from the 1960s and 1970s.

My son just told me that “Blood” will be back this Saturday and I hopped back on the computer to add my “YEAH!!! Welcome Back, Blood!” Props to the DJ who had to sit in his spot – he didn’t try to be him. In fact, he said those shoes were not meant for him to fill (yeah, I called in too). Its not just the songs, its the life and love of it that he understands. AND… aint nothing like the real thang, baby!!

This is the great news. My Saturday morning was not the same. I was so accustomed to doing my w/e housecleaning to his old tunes. So glad Kiss104.1 realized they had a jewel of a radio personality that set them apart from other radio stations.

Welcome back, Blood!! Man, I missed you! I used to get up early on Saturdays just to hear you and your programming, and my radios remained tuned to KISS for the rest of the day! I even turned my friends on to you! No offense to MixMaster Mitch, but it’s difficult to replace an icon. I’m on board again. Thank you, KISS 104.1!!!!

I knew when I was oversleeping on Saturday morning something was wrong and that he was gone, but when I got home Wednesday night and heard the commercial, I’m back and when he said who was back, I started screaming to the top of my lungs and immediately got on the phone to start letting people know. Thanks kiss for doing what was best for the station and now I can wake up on time every Saturday morning with youngblood coming on the air music, waking me up. What a beautiful sound.

I moved to Atlanta in 1984 and I was told to listen to 91.9 every Saturday morning for Youngblood. I was hooked!! When Youngblood moved, I moved!!! Mix Master Mitch is very good and knows music but he is not Yougblood!!! There is only one Youngblood and he will make your week or day on a Saturday morning. Thank you Youngblood and 104.1 for bringing my Saturday mornings back. Other than Saturday mornsing Kiss 104.1 is my station everyday. The alarm is set for 7:00 AM Saturday morning again!!!!!!!

Love it; Luv him. I used to hate being out of town on Saturdays because I missed YoungBlood’s Spotlight Gold show (would try to catch it on the internet if I could) and when I am home – the radio station never changed when he hosted (something that happened frequently the last five months while he was away). He just knows how to put the right songs together – the right comments – and takes you right back to that era where music was truly music!!

hardnose 30 years retired atlanta police….morehouse man same as youngblood…youngblood had a christmas special one year and i had to work that day, but he made my christmas… this guy put together the best mix ever and i have not heard another as good since… there were some many calls, i could never get through…that was the best….saturday morning with young blood is the best…

Congratulations to Youngblood and Kiss 104.1. Maybe you can show the rest of the world what a little compromise can do. The family missed you on saturday mornings. I’m so happy that the Youngblood is back!! I’m 43 and my Mom and Dad played this type of music ALL while I was growing up; the house was filled with the grownups playing cards in the kitchen, smoking cigarettes and me playing with all their kids that came over too. Food was being cooked and us kids were using our imaginations (without anykind of electronic games!). Went to sleep listening to the Intruders and woke up to Eddie Kendricks. They taught me that music and good people keeps you feeling fine! Thanks Youngblood for keeping us all rooted and grounded in what really matters! God bless you fam!
