Youngblood returns to Kiss 104.1 August 20

youngbloodsmall_t187

After nearly five months off the air, Youngblood will be back on R&B station Kiss 104.1 this Saturday morning starting at 7 a.m.

Youngblood, who objected to a salary cut in April and left, said in an interview that he and Kiss were “able to compromise, cut it in the middle and work it out.”

He talked to other stations but in the end, he felt Kiss was the best place for him to be.

Fans of Youngblood flooded the station with protests.

“We’re very excited to have him back,” said Tony Kidd, Cox Radio Atlanta vice president of programming who runs Kiss. “He’s been in this marketplace a long time. And people love the way he tells stories, the way he delivers the music. People view him as a friend. He’s a staple.”

Youngblood has hosted Spotlight Gold on the station for two decades primarily with soul classics from the 1960s and 1970s.

I guess he realize that no other radio station was going to pay the big BUCKS for one day of work. Yea, you realize that the grass was greener were you were. Tuck your TAIL in like a good person and now do your job! You are replaceable!

American in Europe

Can we stream his program in Europe? Use to live in ATL (Dump of a town now…).
Saggy pants, stupid crime, sucky night life, high Fulton Cty. taxes for piss p— services
across the board, poor quality of food in minority areas, oh, just throw that trash on the
ground and that nice shopping area they built a few years ago-its all but worthless now!
Too much work to clean the windows or wipe that door handle off. No to mention a group of
bad crackers.

Yep, I am off track…
ATL just use to be a prideful city of young promise-young Men and Women who looked like Men and Women. Not like they needed to be washed with some tide and a hard brush and told not to show what you ate for dinner and to speak in a full sentence. We respected our seniors, planned for Children when we HAD A husband, had goals and did not want to ever dishonor our parents and grandparents by doing something stupid. If the neighbor was sick you took over some soup-now you show up with a gun and rob them. Now…there is good and bad to include people everywhere. I had
lofty ideas about ATL.

I stream Jazz from France and Italy and good “Old School Soul” from the Netherlands, hope
to hear Youngblood again one day..

I am so glad that Youngblood is back. I have been listenting to Y/B since the early 80’s. I saw Y/B at 2010’s Flashback concert at Lakewood this past weekend and I kind of sensed that he would be back with us from the way he gave little clues when he was on stage. I can’t wait for him to come back home to KISS 104-1 and bring back his uniqueness. I’m VERY OLD SCHOOL!!!!!!! I’ve got cassette tapes from back in the day when Y/B was on the air doing his THANG!!!! MIX MASTER MIX was OK (love ya to death, bro) but I was about to dig up and wipe the dust off of my cassette tapes because I HAD TO HEAR ME SOME YOUNGBLOOD!!!THANK YOU KISS 104 FOR LISTENING. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

OKAY KAT, I’LL DO THIS JUST FOR YOU SWEETIE-You see, the thing is, KISS 104.01 has to realize there are still a generation of people who love this music. this is the music of OUR GENERATION, the thing is, we will never hear the likes of Sam Cook, or the Drifters or the Isleys Brothers or The Moments on the radio shows that they have now. the music of the late 50s all through the 60’s and 70s will be forgotten. so yes, we need a DJ like Youngblood to keep these songs going, because it will never be heard again (unless you become a serious collector) I love this music with a passion. i’m reading the life and times of Sam Cooke right now and just finished reading “A House On Fire-The Rise and Fall of the Philly Sound” and see, Youngblood not only Plays this treasured music, he teaches us the history of it. so as long as i can still hear, i will continue to listen, learn and be an avid supporter of Youngblood and this wonderful music that is our gift, our legacy.
