HLN rides Casey Anthony trial to best ratings month ever in June

NG-300x197

I have to admit. I have spent virtually no time on the Casey Anthony trial. I’m not even sure why this is getting so much attention compared to many other criminal trials but it clearly has appeal among a subset of women viewers, especially fans of Nancy Grace.

Atlanta-based HLN has been taking full advantage of the trial, providing expansive coverage during the day and into the evening hours.

The windfall: big ratings, relatively speaking. Viewership began climbing once the trial began in late May. Its June ratings were its strongest ever in total viewers, behind only Fox News and ahead of sister station CNN and MSNBC. During the day, it averaged 601,000 viewers vs. 303,000 in June, 2010. In primetime, it averaged 982,000 viewers  vs. 592,000 in June, 2010.

Nancy Grace, who contemptuously calls Anthony  “tot mom,”  pulled in a record 1.5 million viewers per night in June, 80 percent more than a year earlier.

On Wednesday, when the defense called its final witnesses, HLN beat all cable news networks among 25 to 54 year olds full day and primetime. It averaged 357,000 all day 25-54, its best numbers in that demo since it moved to long-form programming in 2005. Nancy Grace pulled in 676,000 viewers among 25 to 54 year olds, the most since January 7, 2009, another day in which she discussed the case.

The numbers today will likely be even bigger, given that the verdict was announced. (Anthony was not guilty of the main first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter charges. “Tot mom’s lies seem to have worked,” Grace said.)

I am working on a weekly print column about HLN’s coverage and will provide more information later this week.

I am shocked by the outcome of the Casey Anthony trial. She is so guilty. BTW why do you think that the “real” father of Calee has been hidden this whole time? God help us all!

Even after the verdict press and media are still trying to tell the public that she is guilty. I think
this is really a discrace to put down are legal system in this way. The press had put their spin on it and most of which was not presented in court. Lets not put down the best leagal system in the world. I for one am not stunned of the verdict. I based my opinon only on what was intruduced in court and not the opionons of the press and media.

QUESTIONS:
Where was Casey’s brother, Lee today? Was he in the courtroom?
Did George or Cindy show any reaction whatsoever when the verdict was read?

Do not get me wrong, you did a great job in Aruba, But…..
Well you got your high ratings, didn’t you. What office are you running for? Have you thought Dad did control her, and she has lost her only child. Did not hear you get on parents for leaving early.
Question you said “is she going home to mommy and daddy, oral sex, what? Is that what you do? I think this girl lost in the media and maybe just maybe you have seen the truth and do not see it.
I beleive that the jury did what the judge said, and did not listen to people like you.
I feel the media does not try the people and we have to go with what the jury votes.
Heard 1 comment for your people about the parents leaving by a “side” door, when in fact the left by the back door.

Baez said in opening statements that this was an accident in the pool and Casey and George covered it up. Is there no legal ramification for that?? You can just throw a dead body away and forget about it?
I’m so confused.

I got so tired of listening to the perversions of truth (and outright lies) told by the “talking heads” on HLN. I believe Casey is a real wacko, but the truth is that the prosecution never proved that Caylee was even murdered, much less killed by Casey. Reasonable doubt abounded!! Great defense, weak evidence.

This is Justice??? Anyone with just a smidge of common sense can conclude that after all this time the jury did’nt care and just wanted out. Finding her not guilty of all the felony charges was the easiest and quickest way. I have NO faith in the jury system, the general public has so little concern for others today. Our society does not appreciate or value the courts today–and this verdict proves my point. A cold blooded killer walks free and no one is held responsible for Caylee’s murder because the jury wanted out.

Jenny, once a verdict has been determined not guilty of murder, the person can not be tried for murder again. This is referred to as double jeopardy. In fact, she could walk out on the courthouse steps and admit to murdering her child (if in fact she did), and she can not be charged/arrested for the same crime.

Now that killer will be making all kinds of money writing a book(if she already has not started) maybe she should call it ” IF I KILLED MY SWEET BABY” . she will sell all her lies to the people with the highest check (maybe she will only take cash) I am sure she cannot get a bank account or trust a bank because she knows how easy it is for someone to clear out peoples accounts. So on that note she wont need her family because she will have more money then them. Plus I think Anthony(the boyfrien) will or probably has started writting a book Why I Love a Baby KILLER . News from Orlando has spread all around
Young Caylee Anthony’s bones have been found
as though she were garbage thrown out on the ground
do you hear her soft cry, do you hear the sad sound?

In the land of the selfish, there just isn’t room
for those who cry out from the ground or the womb
so we put them to death, we don’t want them around
Now, young Caylee Anthony’s bones have been found

When sweet Caylee cries, does America hear?
Is anyone left who will still shed a tear?
Do you hear her soft cry, do you hear the sad sound?

My husband and I have followed this case for the past 3 yrs. We felt that the prosecution did a wonderful job of proving beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey was guilty of this crime. We were sick to our stomach to think that this jury “missed the mark” and could not see the trees for the forest or didn’t have the intestinal fortitude to pronounce her guilty. They just kicked us in the stomach! Baez and his “sleeze ball” partner got away with their lies just as Casey Anthony has done. I agree with Nancy that when a jury is picked, you can just know which way they will side! Maybe we should look at how jurors are chosen and revamp the system. I will say that Casey will live, I hope, with the sins she has committed not only with her child but with her family. She lied just to save her own skin at the expense of her own family. She has destroyed her own family! We know that God, in his own time, will see that Casey Anthony pay for what she has done. He has not forgotten this crime committed against little Caylee and will not let it go without justice done! ! !

Justice was denied today because of a homesick jury. They had been away from their families for over 30 days and if they found her guilty they were looking at at least 2 more days before they started deleberating or hearing testimony in the penalty phase. The jury wanted to go home and Casey Anthony benefited from it. This needs to be addressed in the future. By the way, what is a Tot Mon???

It’s a pretty good bet that if there were no death penalty she would have been found guilty. In science, an extraordinary claim requires extraordinary evidence – belief, intuition and faith don’t count. Nancy Grace and friends believed in her guilt as did I, but WE didn’t have to make a decision that would have resulted in Cayce’s execution. Faced with the responsibility of that, even an UNreasonable doubt would carry some weight.
Execution is legalized revenge – if you want to punish someone, put them in a little box for the rest of their lives.

The one thing that stuck out to me was how George found the smell in the car but did not call police. I don’t think she was smart enough to cover up the evidence as well as it was. The press vilified and tried this woman in the press Nancy Grace spent what 6 months night after night convicting her. The press and Nancy Grace are purveyors of the worst kind of porn that would make Larry Flynt look like Dr. Seuss by comparison. Night after night indulging the self righteous into a frenzy. While this case is truly sad from all angles it fed the diseased mind of these people who have to sit around and judge someone with such contempt it makes them feel better about themselves.

Nancy Grace was giddy about the prospect of her conviction which makes her sicker than Casey could have ever been. Anyone who takes joy in the misery of others is truly a sick mind.

Personally I do not know if she was guilty or not but the jury heard the evidence and found her not guilty and that is the system we have.

Egg on faces? This is more about an innocent little girl who had duct tape placed over her breathing parts and placed in the woods. Someone did that!!! I just dont get the outcome, somehow her baby came up missing, first she lied and said the nanny stole her, then that lie lost its power when they found out there was no nanny, so she told a new lie, she drowned in the pool and she didnt know what to do so she entered a best body contest and partied the next 30 days ago while telling her parents that Casey was with her while she traveled around the state vising friends… whatever… the only person with egg on her face is Casey, and that will never come off.

Myna, that is a good question, but I don’t think a child advocacy group can bring civil charges against a mother/father… typically they assist with making criminal cases stronger on behalf of the child. Usually this is done based on investigations of abuse, neglect, endangerment, etc. which are criminal matters.

I hope a private investigator follows her, and taps her phone conversations from now to eternity. Someday…she’ll trip up, in fact, if you question her about details in 10 years, everything will change. This happened in a murder case where a woman and man were found no guilty of the murder of her husband. They made it look like her husband was killed by an intruder in the house, when it was her boyfriend (lover) who killed him, and she called police saying someone broke in her house and killed her husband. His face was smashed beyond recognition. Police came to her home 20 years later, yes…20 years later, and asked her for details about the death of her husband…her story was completely different, because she forgot the lies she had told. They told her what she had previously said…and asked her if she were guilty…she did admit it, and then said her boyfriend did it. She was finally convicted after 20 years. Amazing case, but can’t remember the names.

Randall

Nancy Grace should be on trial. In fact the whole media should be on trial here. Why do they convict people before they are even tried? Usually the media starts saying someone is guilty before they are even charged! I give you Scott Peterson, OJ, the cop that supposedly killed his 3rd wife, and now Casey Anthony.
It has nothing to do with whether they are guilty or innocent. It is about the role of the press. I want them to report the facts. I do not want them reporting leaked information for the police or the prosecution. After a trial there is plenty of time to rehash what has happened. Think about this, What if you were accused of a crime and before you are charged or arrested, the press is saying, non stop, that you are guilty. The national news picks it up, Nancy Grace decides you should be flayed alive. How do you fight that? What if you didn’t do it? How is that fair? That is NOT how our system is supposed to work. I have heard over and over that the media the the “thirteenth juror”. Um, no they are not. It’s is about ratings and money. Othewise, why is this tiral of interest to anyone outside of the town she lived in? It does not effect my life at all. Why is this part of our national dialog at all?
This has got to stop.

Nakiah Green 12 years old has more sense than the 12 adults on that jury. Did they want to go home that badly that they let a murderer go free in less than two days? Let’s not forget the true victim in all of this; an innocent baby named Caylee Marie. I’m so sorry sweetie, that our society and so called “justice” system says it’s okay for mothers to kill and toss their children like garbage. Rest in peace sweet baby. Justice will be served one way or another someday and by a higher authority. A mother who does not report her child missing for 31 days after claiming she was with a babysitter that never existed, and then tells lie after lie after lie, goes shopping, partying, tatooing and sleeping with your boyfried like nothing ever happened if she’s innocent. Casey Anthony is a cold blooded, calculating, lying, murdering monster. Lady Justice in all her blindness can see that.

it’s not so much about race but looks or money. If people think you’re hot, they’re willing to believe anything to explain away bad things (just human psychology). Also, I guess this is what happens when you make people endure trials (the jury), on the 4th of July. I just found it odd before the disgusting verdict, that we’re in America, and on a day when the garbage man and the mailman get off, for a FEDERAL AMERICAN GOVERNMENT holiday, um, our JUDICIAL SYSTEM is still in session? That was just odd to me. But, ok. I think that the verdict would have at least been given more thought (I mean, guilty of SOMETHING, geesh), had they not been held hostage in a (no t.v., no media, no talking with friends, boyfriends, wives, husbands, girlfriends, children, etc while you KNOW everyone else like, LITERALLY in the ENTIRE country is out, off, grilling, and having a REALLY fun day, and you’re stuck inside. It’s like psychological torture–even though it’s not that bad, it feels it. Like when you’re a kid and you’re on punishment–not going outside and talking to your friends isn’t as big a deal as when you’re NOT allowed or NOT able to, as opposed to having a choice or option. Kinda like the theory behind Chinese water torture–leaky faucets are annoying but only drive you crazy when you’re FORCED to be around them and CAN’T turn them off…etc.

I’m just searching for straws. But like someone else already said…innocent people are excecuted, put in prison, mistaken identities, cover ups, etc’s but the bad folk walk. That’s just LIFE. It’s not exclusive to this country. When you’re read the Word of God in the King James Version of the Holy Bible, you can find out that Satan RUNS IT down here, and that the power given to him, God gave him (but for a season only). But point–Satan’s folk are the power players on Earth right now, so this is how they run it. Not saying anything about the Casey Anthony, just saying that Disney and Karma don’t work–the good suffer in real life more than the evil–not the other way around. And bad women don’t look like monsters always, like Disney and in differing philosophies.

But, oh well. Move on, the anger for this, we can’t do squat about it. Pray for ALL of the parties involved if you’re a Christian (you’re SUPPOSED TO), and JUST KNOW, their are PLENTY of things that we CAN do something about, injustices that we CAN help right–like at the least praying for and helping out those who are being tortured in other countries for being “different” or for scaring their goverment, or to be made examples out of. The Holocaust was not the only holocaust, and slavery didn’t end 200 years ago. People are bought and sold and enslaved LITERALLY in our country, and abroad. And Middle Eastern countries aren’t the only places where human life is slaughtered by monsters in power, and psychotic masses and gorrilla forces.

Hooray for american justice. We are so flooded with the medias point of view that our thoughts that we become followers of this media prosecution. All of the so called news is bias based on there profession. As individuals we need to keep media out of the courtroom. The American way of justice is to be judged by our peers and not the media. JP

Really? I mean REALLY? The only thing that the prosecution PROVED beyond a reasonable doubt was that Casey was a negligent mother. Do I think she is responsible for something? YES.. but exactly what? No one knows,, and THAT is exactly why the jury came to the verdict they did. Casey was that childs mother and her daughters care was ultimately her responsibility. However, the state of Florida, should have brought a case against her of “Criminally Negligent Homocide”. That would have been a case the state could have won. People do not think with their heads but rather with their emotions… AND BTW HLN,, shame on you for playing on those emotions just to boost your ratings through the roof. Yes, I am angry that a little girl will never have the chance to live a full life… but the jury did the only thing they could do based on cold, hard, evidence. No matter what any of you THINK about the verdict.. The fact of the matter is that Casey has been found NOT guilty by a jury of her peers. Do you have to like it? No, but get over it, don’t spend your time and energy getting all emotional about it. Instead use your time and energy to find someone in the world that you can help in some small way. “If you aren’t part of the solution, you are part of the problem.”

I too am terribly disappointed but NOT surprised by the verdict. Considering the prosecution had the burden of PROOF and the defense to cause reasonable doubt. This is MY opinion… George is former LEO & a TRAINED Detective. I personally believe (without a doubt) that George, Cindy & Lee were ALL involved in the cover-up but it was manipluated BY George. George KNEW that (at least) 30 days would be sufficient to decompose Caylee’s body, that cause of death would NOT be detected. All the drama, the dog & pony show(es). GEORGE orchestrated this cover-up, Cindy is quite the achtress. Oh I believe their grief is REAL/but on cue. Even when George was on the stand… who is TRAINED in testifying… answered his questions with questions. Typical interview & interrogation tactics, George was IN CONTROL – NOT the attorney’s. I’m curious how soon Cindy’s book deal will be revealed, considering she was writing it during the trial. This isn’t the FIRST time murderer’s have gone free and it won’t be the last. (I’m NOT sure, never heard – hopefully George no longer a LEO) Our laws do not always (in most cases) protect the innocent. OK, Casey was found NOT Guilty… there are tooooo many unanswered questions. So, everyone is content to accept that Caylee drowned and it is a tragedy but OH WELL! GOOD JOB GEORGE!!!!! Lies in Disquise! Now the media is worrying where-o-where will poor Casey live since George and Cindy walked out before the Judge finished addressing the jury, since they are predicting she’ll be released Thursday for time served. Oh, I think Casey will be just fine an will not lack in being provided for. I’m just curious IF they plan to prosecute George, Cindy and Lee for perjury????? No doubt Casey, George & Cindy will be back in the lime-light (soon enough), after all…. they’re famous now! What a tragedy all the way around.

The system doesn’t work…OJ now Casey. The girl killed her baby so she didn’t have to take care of her anymore; she was cramping her party style. The “facts” speak for themselves, or should I say the “lies.” The sad thing is she and the defense runined so many lives over this. The saddest thing is: she’s 25 years old, will be out screwing around before you know it and could get pregnant again (shudder). I have a feeling we’ll be seeing her in court again someday. Some of the reactions here are classic examples of WHY she was acquited – because the media latched onto a story with all the lurid qualities necessary to attract and hold an audience, and after enough hype and righteous indignation was built up around it, the prosecutor’s office thought they could fake their way through the weak parts of the case and just ride a wave of public sympathy to a conviction. They brought it to trial before they were ready.
Ever wonder why it’s taken so long to accuse Michael Jackson’s doctor? Because the LAPD is doing the investigation.

And, as for your first remark: no, I’m saying they didn’t see ANYTHING. If they had the verdict would be different. Sorry to say you are in the minority in the way the world is thinking. That don’t want to be attacked by nut jobs and lunatics who have no clue what happened.I also doubt the majority of people see it your way either. It’s extremely hard to take 12 people from different walks of life and ethenicities to agree 12-0 on anything. It’s rather delusional to think you know more than they do based off of what you saw on tv.According to Nancy Grace the prosecutors had the perfect jury and there was no doubt they would find her guilty. This just goes to show you that just because you are on tv…it doesn’t mean you know what you are talking about. There is a reason they are on tv to begin with.

You people who go for this entire “prove beyond a reasonable doubt” garbage are LOVED by defense attorneys. They hire people who specifically look for you idiots, when picking jurrors.

Sometimes COMMON SENSE should prevail. Let’s take a look at the facts that nobody from either side disputes from a COMMON SENSE point of view.

1.) Caylee went missing in June of 08 and her mom was out partying, getting tatoo’s that in Italian translate to “good life.” What mom wouldn’t report her child missing after 30 minutes, much less 30 days??

2.) When her mom wanted to see her grand daughter, Casey told her that she was with 2 people who NEVER existed; a nanny and a boyfriend in Tampa. She also lied to police about a job working at Universal Studios that she NEVER had.

3.) After a tow yard called George and told them Casey’s car had been impounded, they find a “decomposing” smell in the back that smelled of a dead body. Do you really buy the defense’s version that it was from a bag of garbage? How long would a bag of garbage have to be in the back of your car before it starts to smell like a dead body??

4.) Authorities discovered that she had visited web sites about chloroform. But the defense says it was her mom. Yeah ok.

5.) You believe the defense’s version that George found Cayleigh dead in their pool, decided to bound her mouth w/ duct tape and dump her in the woods a few miles away?? WHO WOULD MAKE AN ACCIDENTAL DEATH LOOK LIKEA MURDER ANYWAY??

So anything short of DNA evidence and/or a confession and a murderer should walk? Is that what youre saying??

COMMON SENSE goes a long way in life for you that believe she’s innocent. Sometimes 2 + 2 really does = 4.

Bigboy

Donald Trump said today, “it was not a jury of MY peers.” Well, the jury that found Casey Anthony not guilty WAS a jury of HER peers– just like O. J. Simpson. Jimmy

Bigboy,

It’s not a conspiracy.I never said it was. The defense team did a much better job than the prosecution in picking jurrors. They picked 12 idiots is what they did. While the prosecution was presenting facts, the defense team presented a smoke screen(what does George allegedly molesting Casey have to do w/ this trial?), and the 12 idiots bought it.

That’s why defense lawyers make what they do, and prosecutors make what they do. Our justice system has NOTHING to do with justice, as this(and many other) trial has shown.

This entire “beyond a reasonable doubt” burden of proof HAS to be lowered. I mean you, as a jurror, could be sitting there thinking, “Well all the circumstantial evidence leads to her being guilty, but since there is no DNA evidence or a confession I have to vote not guilty.”

How stupid is that? Always go w/ your first instict and use common sense in situations like this.

I personally belive that casey is dirty, however ,i watched this trial and keep waiting for proof and it never came, its a shame that the prosecution didnot do their job. everyone wants to scream what is wrong with the jury , they looked at the evidence and ruled correctly, after watching this trial i know as much about how she died as i did when it started nothing, no cod, no proof casey did the search on computer, if the girl was in the car ,no proof casey put here there or drove the car with her in it, come on prosecution give me something, i think she did it but i would not have been able to convict and thats with seeing the coverage that the jury never saw. to quote unquote experts shut up !!!! quit blaming the jury, saying they didnt deliberate long enough, or they were tired and wanted to go home, what your doing is wrong and does a diservice to the legal system, your helping to create an environment that will get an innocent person convected, the law is to decided without emonition based strictly on the facts and evidence not on weather you like aor hate someone. the one to blame here is the prosecution they didnt do thier job very well

The jury wanted to go home & they didn’t give a damn about
what the prosecution spelled out for them. They definitely
had no feelings for Caylee. I hope their verdict will haunt

I bet Casey Anthony thinks of the Jury as S T U P I D when she heard
the verdict, “Not Guilty”. The jury should be embarrassed! Caylee got
no justice, all because of a stupid jury. The jury was not listening
to the prosecution. All the jury wanted was to go home.

Why didn’t law enforcement follow up on Kronk’s finding of a body and notifying law enforcement about his discovery? He contacted police 3 or 4 different times and nobody followed up with his discovery until December, after the body laid there for several more months. By that time, the body had completely decomposed, with nothing left but dry bones. Why the delay in law enforcement following up on his discovery? Explain this to me, if you can. Thank you.

About Casey Anthony

I know you probably will not put this on the air, but I feel that something needs to be said about your conduct on the air. I don’t know if Casey Anthony guilty or not, but she was judged by a jury and found not guilty. But you continue to allow her to be assassinated on public television. You and your entourage, because the verdict did not go the way you wanted it too you continue to do your best to turn the public against her and her family. Should anything happen to her or her family you personally can take credit for it. Because you and your cohorts shown prejudiced throughout the trial and continue to try to prove her guilty regardless of what the jury said, It is my opinion that all of you and your ex prosecutors are ones that should be on trial for character assassination or worst . The jury was given sole responsibility for the fate of Casey Anthony and yet you take it upon yourself to be a judge and jury. Should sometime in the future it is proven that somebody else killed Caylee Anthony, I wonder if you will spend as much time undoing the harm have done or will you just brush and under the rug. I think somebody should be punished for the death of Caylee Anthony, but because you continue to point the finger at Casey Anthony it is my opinion that the police will not continue looking elsewhere for the possibility that someone else may have killed Caylee Anthony.

THe Defense was allowed by the Judge to assert a false defense . This is Judge error to allow this bias
and prejudice to the Jury of claiming a drowning death and grandfather molesting . No question the Jury were dummies ,but that is what the Defense was hoping for . Don’t call this Justice .

I guarantee you that if the jury sat through the trial, stayed sequestered and then gave their verdict, seperately, it would have been a completely different outcome. Understand that I went into this trial knowing three things. She has been in jail, the baby is dead and the baby was found near the home. I watched the entire trial, start to finish, and the people that honestly believe that this woman had nothing to do with the death of this child are out of your minds. She was responsible for the safety of this child and she should be made to pay for this death. If it was an accident, which I do not believe, then why not say it? She had plenty of opportunities to admit to an accident. To the people that honestly believe she does not know what happened to Caylee, you are crazy. IT IS common sense that should tell you that she should know. What person can go 31 days and not know where their child is? What mother could go 5 minutes?? I am dumbfounded by the people that honestly believe in her innocence. If you agree, then agree that the legal system did correctly by following the rules of reasonable doubt, but there’s no way you can sleep at night and believe that she was not involved. A child was found decomposed in a swamp and nobody will pay for it and if you agree that that, shame on you. She is a disgrace of a mother and I will not even call her that. Go ahead and cheer and be happy that she is free and verdict of not guilty was arrived. People that are doing this are as disgraceful as the outcome of this trial.

I truly believe that these jurors knew that if they came with anything else than not guilty they would continue to be sequestered and they apparently knew that a not guilty would allow them to go home. they deliberately gave a not guilty just so they can go home. they did not go through any evidence or review anything all they wanted was to go home and the only way to ensure that was to give a not guilty. they should go to jail for not doing their duty as it is suppose to be….. the evidence was there, they just wanted to go home regardless of what this was all about Caley…

I think Casey Anthony might have legal grounds to sue the networks for what they have done to her. If she does it, it just might stop the convicting someone before trial mentality which is as we watch, hurting our justice system.

If I were the jury, I would hire a collective attorney to represent the 12. That way, if they ever speak about the case they will not be trapped into making a simple misstatement that the media and State could try to use to throw out their decision.

They have acted very responsibly in avoiding the media which has NO right to hear from them. The media that has trashed them since the verdict. If anyone should get an interview it should be either Geraldo and/or Hannity who have supported their right to view the evidence in their own personal way, which is the LAW. Still, I would have an attorney present.

What makes anyone believe that Caylee’s body was in the woods when they searched the first time. If the Anthony’s was in on it, the body would have placed in the woods after they knew it had been searched. George was a detective. I know detective’s have their connections. I knew when George and Cindy testified, reasonable doubt would result in a not guilty verdict.

This is complicated, as in most of life there is a lot af gray area. Using “smellavision” could be construed as ‘junk science. I think alot of citizens want a “smokin gun”. And that was not present. In this country we do not convict people on internet searches. I think lawyers are a little naive. Are they vunerable to hackers and identity theft as the rest of folks? Remember the sting operations, trying to convict molesters because of what they might do? They thought they were talking to a 13 year old, but in fact it was an 18 or older. You can not be convicted for what you thought you were doing , but what you really did. I know something bad happened to that darling child. But if our judicial system hinges on smells, internet seaches, and people that lie; known lots of liers in my life but it was usually a family tradition. If in this country what we look at on the internet: what’s next? The IRS telling what we owe because they checked out our computer?

I recently served on a hung jury and I must say that I was amazed at the people who could not follow basic testimony, understand basic science, and use COMMON SENSE. I actually had to argue with people on my jury that common sense could be used in order to come to a verdict. Several in the group wanted to argue that it was against the law to use common sense! The man on trial was so obviously guilty of arson and attempted murder based on his own testimony that I couldn’t believe there were people who would not convict. They kept talking about the lack of “physical evidence”. I saw plenty of physical evidence because I UNDERSTOOD the science when several of the others didn’t get it. This is the same argument I’m hearing from so many people out there who were obviously not able to connect the dots on this trial. Circumstantial evidence IS evidence. I guess you must now video-tape a murder or tweet “hey, I’m committing a murder now” in order to ever be judged guilty of what would have been a slam dunk guilty verdict 50 years ago. People in our society have been watching too many movies and TV shows and they expect things to be nicely packaged and easy to follow just like on TV. Real life is more complicated than that.

The majority of us on the jury I was on could see that the guy was guilty, so we stuck to our beliefs and sent the whole thing back to the judge as a mistrial. Another jury found him guilty on all counts. I have to believe that there must have been at least a few on the Casey Anthony jury who could see her guilt. They may not have known that they could send it back as a hung jury or maybe they just didn’t want to take the time. A little instruction on basic legal procedures wouldn’t hurt. Jury instruction isn’t enough. Many people don’t even understand the meaning of some of the basic words in the indictments, much less what you can and cannot do in a jury deliberation.

I am a teacher and I have seen many degrees of intelligence in every class I’ve ever taught and our general society is about the same. I have seen brilliant students and unfortunately those who can’t pass a test even if you give them the answers. Some are just smarter than others. Teachers can’t make people smarter than their genetics will allow. I’m not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings or anything. This is just a fact.

The problem with our judicial system today is that more often than not the most intelligent members of our society try to get out of jury duty because intelligent people are too busy and they don’t want to be bothered with sitting on a jury. The intellectually weaker elements of society are left on their own to figure things out in the area of justice in our legal system and they often don’t pay attention to evidence because they don’t understand it and probably never will. They are inattentive in court just like they are in class in high school. They are offended when others try to point out what they don’t understand and they dig in their heals and refuse to be educated about the reality or truth of circumstances beyond their grasp.

The bottom line is that the jury selection process needs to be modified so that the smart people don’t feel like they have to maneuver themselves out of it and lawyers should not be allowed to strike jurors because they are too knowledgeable in certain areas. Perhaps they should assign people a week every few years to serve and give them a year’s notice so that they don’t schedule vacations or big business meetings at that time. This would allow doctors and other professionals the time to plan for the possibility of serving on a jury. In addition, I have been called for jury duty at least a dozen times. I have served on two juries. I know people who have voted for years and have never once been called for jury duty. Everyone should be called. Maybe assigning a jury duty time for everyone would make it more fair and we would receive a better cross section of society. This would also probably eliminate the possibility of being called every year like I am.

It’s too bad about poor little Caylee. It’s obvious to me that her own mom killed her. I can assure you that we would still be sitting in that jury room if I was on that jury or we would be talking about a mistrial and a new trial. There is no way I would have walked out of that room and heard the words NOT GUILTY. This group didn’t even review any of the evidence and according to the observers, they didn’t even take notes. Not a good sign.

I was shocked to hear the verdict yesterday. All the jury wanted was to go home. They did not want work very hard on this case. They were tired of it and they didn’t care what happened to Caylee. Casey Anthony was
very jealous of her beautiful daughter. Jealous people can be very dangerous. Casey wanted all of the attention and she was tired of sharing the attention with her daughter. Caylee was in her way. Casey
was a party girl, but a horrible mother. She has no remorse for her
daughter. All she cares about is herself.

Our justice system works and we must not become the mob who seeks to destroy “the monster”. Justice has been served as well as possible. Each of us faces our own truth eventually. Justice and truth are not avoidable for any of us.

Had I been the prosecution, I would have caught on to “Zanny” the babysitter long ago. Perhaps they did and reached a dead end. Zanny is I am quite certain, zanex. She dosed her child with zanex and the child died. How, when and who knew what, is the question. I intuitively feel this is a fact that was overlooked. Did it not occur to George and Cindy that Zanny was zanex? Unfortunately, that term is heard quite often among drug users from every social class. Ask ten random people if they have a zanny, see what happens.

Obviously the defense came up with Casey’s “accidental drowning” story to trade a murder conviction for lesser charges of a “cover up”. Any parent/adult would have automatically called 911 immediately! Surprisingly it took them nearly 3 yrs to come up with this “new fact” to derail the prosecutors case. Casey’s actions after “the accident” were clearly unconcerned & heinously deplorable.

I am reading all the reactions to the Anthony verdict and I cannot help but to answer to all the Nancy Graces out there: You are entitled to your opinion and that is a precious right in a democracy. And in your opinion this may be a horrible day for the justice. But in my opinion this is a great day for justice system in the US and I celebrate it. Bear in mind that the jury were twelve randomly selected people by both the prosecution and the defense, 7 of which were women, perhaps some of them mothers. And the fact that 12 people came up with the same conclusion in a short period of time of just 10 hours speaks volumes. You were not in the courtroom and you don’t know exactly what played out there and who left what impression except for what you heard in the media. And if you are going to be mad at someone, be mad at the prosecutors because they did not make their case. It doesn’t mean she did not do it. The cases are not tried in the media or by Nancy Grace or by any of us out there, they are tried in the court. Maybe in Bangladesh they kill girls that were raped because they are a “shame” on the village but that is Third World. In a country like the US a person should not be executed because Nancy thinks so, they should be executed if it is proven beyond reasonable doubt that the person is guilty. The prosecutors failed, period. I feel bad for the girl and for all others that were caught in the mess without any willful participation. But we don’t kill people because dozens of sensationalist journalist overplayed the bits and pieces of the case for better ratings and sales and we bought it. IT MUST BE PROVEN BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT. So, God bless America and the system. Prosecutors failed. Case closed. Moving on with hopes that it never happens again and if it does we shall first prove so…

I think Judge B.P. is a wise and just judge. But why did he allow George and Cindy A.to sit in on the whole trial? George had to hear everthing and Cindy too in order to prepare how they would answer on testimony? Someone in that family is a control freak. I wonderd how it would have come out if they were called to testify without prior knowledge of former testimony. And why was Lee not there. My Brother would never let me face something that life changing alone. That speaks volumes about this family. Gee if one has privy to a whole conversation, the element of surprize is severely diminished. There are alot of reasons the jury made that judgement, we may never know for a long long time. And that Roy K, or whatever his name is threw a rock in the spokes. He is a little creepy! He had his 15 minutes of fame. Why do lawyers bring in all of these so called experts. Interesting but not so impressive with a jury. Heck we have had DNA pretty much down to gospel, but even at times that fails. It is not always the science we don’t trust, it is the humanbeings, and those in a position of aurthority that we at times mistrust. We have been failed and fooled by alot of people “In Charge”, law enforcement, teachers, ministers, and Doctors. We know these experts are paid. I get they have alot on the line. They are sworn to tell the truth, they could even face consequences in their profession for not behaving in an ethical manner. How ever we as enlightened Americans that believe in our justice system know that people are flawed, at times minipulated to act contrary to their beliefs, and not always reliable.Read some ‘true crime’ books. I suggest Ann Rule. There are many women free who killed their children and claimed SIDS.It is a real thing that happens to an infant. What an insult to the parents that really endured that nightmare. Doctors in the 50’s and 60’s could not fathom that a women would ever kill their child, accident or… out of the question deliberately. That mindset still prevails in the minds of some. It is our self preservation. It we embrace that Mohterhood has a potentail for murder of the very one you gave birtth to and are obligated to protect ERODES, our world wil spin off it’s axis.We did not talk about sexual abuse and incest untill the late 70’s and 80’s. Prefessionals did not understand the whole dynamics about that family secret crime. We know now IT really does happen. In this situation putting to death a 25 year old women with big blue eyes does not fit in our realm of reality. She does not look like Ilean Warnoc(think that may be correct, she was a serial murderer in Fl.) She was put to death. To honer Mothers I salute all af you wonderful Mothers. My Mother was a walking talking love and angel. Bless all of you Mothers that Give Motherhood the love, tradition, and true inspirational task that GOD meant it to be. Forget Casey. Praise God she was not my Mother or yours. Sad for Cayley her Mother somehow failed this angel. My Mother would yell at the top of her lungs if I was missing in a store for 1 minute. I go nuts when one of my cats is missing. I would not post a sign 30 days after, it would be with in an hour.

@ Stonethrower — guilty based on the fact she was the last person seen with her . . . she was the only one with access to the clothes the child was wearing when found in a garbage bag (photos with her mom proved this) . . . she lied and lied and lied to EVERYONE while her only child was missing for 31 days . . . she was the only one with motive to kill her . . . the child would soon begin talking and expose her lies . . . she did not want to be a mother . . . she resented the attention given to Caylee by her parents instead of the attention being focused on her . . . she is a textbook sociopath with no conscience (she steals, lies, etc.); manipulates; blames others (she even tried to throw her own mother, father, and brother under the bus in the trial) . . . she talked about Caylee in the past tense while in jail at the same time hundreds of people were out looking for her . . . she researched “chloroform” (sp?) and “neck breaking” on the computer . . . she was never concerned about finding Caylee during the 31 days she was missing . . . she did not report the child missing for 31 days . . . the trunk of her car contained a dead body based upon the cadaver dogs and at least 8 people who are expert in identifying the distinct smell of human decomposition . . . she backed the car up and parked it beside a ‘dumpster’ hoping no one would suspect the smell coming from the car was her dead daughter . . . the body was found not far from the Anthony home . . . her own parents suspect she killed the child . . . granted it is all circumstantial, but come on, apply some common sense. “I didn’t believe Casey Anthony had murdered Caylee!! From the very beginning I believed it was a very tragic Accident but one would be very difficult to come out and say it out loud because of the “justice system in America, she would not have been believed in my opinion, and they would have convicted her! In The very beginning the MEDIA made her a callous party going killer. Local Public treated the whole family in extremly abusive way, there was no respect to allow these people to grieve the loss of Caylee! or even decency for Media or public whom harrased them outside of their home day in and ou lo leave them alonet. Young people go out and party and eventually they will mature and grow out of it. It is outrages how it is still going on and she and the whole family are still being prosecuted over this. No MOTHER wants to kill her child unless they are significally MENTALLY ILL and she is not ,but l young woman whom panic under the treamendous accident, and unfortunally they do happen it certanly didn’t “belong into DEath penalty case, and now not even manslaughter, their lives will never to be the same and shame on any of you whom will continue to harrash this family whom gone through a pure hell. Jose Baez did not win this case, the Anthony family won it for him. The Anthony attorney said 6 weeks before the trial started, he, along with Lee, George and Cindy met with the defense team and they were told what the defense was going to be,so were not surprised in Jose’s opening arguments. That’s when they all got together and made their plans to help get Casey out of a death penalty. That’s why George acted the way he did on the stand, his combative way with Jose, it was all a game so the jury would think he was lying, and trying to cover up a “accidental drowning”. According to the alternate juror they believed everything Jose said in opening and closing arguments, and even said it was “an accident that snowballed out of control”. They all drank the Anthony/Baez coolaid. What an injustice. Those jurors not looking at one piece of evidence, no questions tell me they never deliberated, but had their mind made up before they got into the deliberation room. They were more interested in going home, than doing their job. They have to live with that verdict, and I hope it haunts them for the rest of their lives. Poor Caylee, no justice for that beautiful little girl.

I wish Casey the best of luck because she will need it…

I would like to hear people say Casey murdered Caylee, but there was not enough evidence to convict her instead of saying she’s innocent and didn’t do anything wrong. All circumstantial evidence leads back to Casey, and only Casey. Her family lied for her, and now she’s free, or is she really free? I certainly would not want to be in her shoes. Where is she going, what is she going to do? She’s the most hated person in the world right now, so she better watch her back. I’m sure Mr. Baez will take her in and console her. He said he’s worried for her safety, he should be! If everyone had listened to all the jailhouse tapes, and think about the 31 days, both of those were very telling about Casey Anthony. Scott Peterson had less circumstantial evidence against him, but is sitting on death row in California. It’s “reasonable” doubt, not NO doubt! I for one saw right through what the Anthony family, especially George, was doing, too bad no one else could comprehend what was going on. The family wanted to save her from the death penalty, but instead have to worry about a murdering daughter who threw them all under the bus to again “get her way”. To Casey, it’s all about her, and always has been. Everyone has dysfunction in their family, and I for one think the entire family got on the stand and showed the jury how dysfunctional they were, what liars they were, and how the family kept secrets, all to show the jury Jose’s opening statements were true. Everyone seems to be drinking the Jose/Anthony family coolaid.
Poor little Caylee Marie Anthony, may she rest in peace. I for one feel she’s in a better place away from that family forever!

Why are some people angry with Rodney Ho? He is just stating a television fact. The interest in this case has increased the ratings of HLN. The ratings reveals America’s concern for finding justice for little Cayle as well as finding out the truth of Casey’s involvement with the death of her child. Ho is providing statistical data some folks find interesting – what is wrong with that?

Why can’t the judge add up ALL of the charges that Casey Anthony has caused due to HER MANY LIES and order that all charges are paid back in full before she profit a penny from any book or movie deal she may receive? Also, can the judge make a ruling that no profit can come from the death of Caylee to the mother? (who knows the sick and twisted things people do to gain attention, try to get book/movie deals or trying to become a reality star these days)

Casey Anthony took forty xanax (Zanax)
Gave to Calee to make her relax

When she see what she had done
She gave Calee another forty one

Just so she would run true to form
She gave her some more chloroform

Taped Calee’s mouth so she couldn’t yell
Then locked in the spare tire well

Left her there days TO decay
Then bagged her up to throw away

By the playhouse she lay-her
That little Calee one so fair

Ground too hard to dig
Borrowed shovel to big

But close was her old pet cemetery
Back in the trunk for the short fairy

Six months pass before a meter reader
Chose that spot to relieve his peter

CALEE WILL TELL WHAT HAPEND TO HER
AND JUSTIS WILL BE SERVED THAT I’M SURE

JUSTIS IS MINE SAY’ITH THE LORD

If we believe in our judical system,,and I do. Is there an ongoing investigation in Caylee’s death. something happened to this little girl. If her Mother is not guilty who is? Just to let it go is wrong. We might not all agree with the verdict but do we just forget about this little girl because so many people believe the verdict was wrong. Instead of complaning about a wrong verdict, are the police just going to forget about this child. It is still open……no one knows how this baby died.

I was not happy to see Casey Anthony go free because she murdered her little girl, Caylee. I was shocked to see Casey Anthony’s lawyer Cheney Mason on tv flipping off the reporters and other people that
were outside. I thought it was so unprofessional & so tacky. I saw Casey’s attorney, Dorothy Clay Sims jumping up and down like a old kid after Casey won & she looked so stupid. The defense attorneys had no feelings for Caylee. How sad! The jury made a big mistake to let Casey go free & they are so dumb, & they didn’t have any feelings for Caylee,
either. Now the jury will want money to be on tv. How greedy! Poor Caylee Anthony got no justice because of the stupid jury.

jan

July 8th, 2011

I heard Cheney Mason say that poor little Caylee died, and somebody killed her. WHAT? Jose Baez said in opening that it was a tragic accident that snowballed out of control. She accidently drowned in the pool, and the jury bought that entire story. Yes, it’s a shame that Casey’s own parents think she’s “not innocent” but yet 12 jurors did. The Anthony family darn well know that Casey killed Caylee, and I believe that is why Lee is not hanging around any longer. For those of you who did not watch the entire trial from beginning to end, should not be commenting because it shows your stupidity. You should never comment on something you know nothing about. That jury had ever bit of evidence to at least get her for child abuse. You don’t go 31 days and not report your child missing, partying every night, buying lingerie, beer, etc on your best friends bank account. Actually Cindy was the one that reported her missing, not Casey. If that’s not child abuse what is? It only took common sense, and putting the dots together to render a guilty murder on at least child abuse. That jury did not deliberate. They were more interested in getting out so they could go on their summer vacations. I listened to juror #3 and she did not make sense to me, and I wondered if she were watching the same trial as everyone else. I’ve watched many trials, and this was the craziest, strangest I’ve ever seen. Justice was not served, and the jury did not do their job. I wish all the media would quit telling everyone to accept what the jury did, but it’s so hard if you watched and listened to the entire trial. It’s obvious that Casey got away with murder! COMMON SENSE was not used. Let’s just hope Casey lives in a world of hell for the rest of her life. Sounds like she won’t have any money for many years, as she has an IRS lien of $70,000, $4,000 fine from the State of Florida, lawsuits from Zeneida, and possibly Tim Miller of Equasearch. Those are the things I love to hear because I for one don’t want Casey Anthony to get away with another thing. There’s a bumper sticker out that says “Move to Florida, you can kill your child, but don’t lie to law enforement”. How true!

Are ratings really that important to be wasting so much “air time” on Casey Anthony, and these crazy, crazy protesters? These “crazy” protesters, all they basically want is be on TV talking stupid… again. The DA couldn’t prove his case beyond reasonable dount…a jury of her peers didn’t think the DA did either and found Casey Anthony not guilty according to the evidence. It’s done…it’s over. But you news network people are more interested in your ratings than anything else, and y’all are just gonna beat this thing to death…now how sad is that? Hmmm.

I feel that she could have been charged with because of the fact that they could not prove that Caylee died directly by the hands of her mother because there was nothing on the medical findings that showed that there was any abuse of the child, blunt force trauma, or being held down under water to drowned. So it’s not murder unless the cause of death was directly by the hand of someone else. So there was not enough physical evidence to prove that it was murder and not a careless accident at caused the death of Caylee Anthony. I feel that they should have charged her with Child Neglect, Child Engenderment, and Improper Disposal of a Body, Lying to Law Enforcement, and Covering up the Death of a child.

The 12 jurors, Baez & Mason, Casey, Cindy all have blood on their hands. May karma be quick and swift. Mason should be ashamed of himself with his middle finger. I suggest that everyone boycott any books, movies, or talk shows featuring any of the Anthony’s, Baez, or Mason. Why would you want to hear more lies. They are not capable of telling the truth. Casey is not a celebrity, she is a murderer, liar, _hore, a thief, a 6 time convicted felon. She is an insult to the word celebrity. She will never be able to change our opinions of her.
