Atlanta comic Steve Harvey, who hosts his nationally syndicated radio show out of Buckhead, spent a few weeks last year taping 180-plus episodes of “Family Feud” out of Orlando for his first season as host.
But with the syndicated game show seeing improved ratings under the helm of Harvey, he used his influence to convince the producers to move the show to Atlanta.
Harvey replaced actor John O’Hurley as host and has been given the freedom to pepper in his own brand of physical and verbal humor into the game.
I will add more details as I get them. I am also seeking information about how to be in the studio audience as well as contestants on this classic game show, which has seen several hosts over the decades.
Harvey, heard locally no Majic 107.5/97.5, is also promoting his own production operation called Green Screen Studios. (UPDATE: “Family Feud” will be taped elsewhere, not at his studios). Here are details from his press release today.
Harvey expands the spotlight on Atlanta as a hub for Hollywood talent and work with the creation of his Green Screen Studio. With over two decades of experience entertaining audiences worldwide on stage, television and movie screens, radio and in books as a comedian, writer, producer and more, Steve Harvey brings more Hollywood-quality offerings home to the South, creating a big, versatile space that’s already been the site for numerous corporate and network video and photo work
Says Harvey, “It only feels natural to provide a production need in a growing entertainment market like Atlanta, and offer a well-sized alternative to the smaller green screen rooms I’ve seen.” Providing a full range of amenities to inspire and produce the best photos, video or web content, Steve Harvey’s Green Screen Studio boasts flexibility and the space to shoot almost anything without overwhelming, serving utmost convenience and manageability in 1405 square feet of working space. The 3-sided cyc wall green screen area measures 665 square feet, with an additional open area of 740 square feet, while the rest of the stage area includes a lighting grid with power, sound room and control room. Steve Harvey’s Green Screen Studio also features numerous comforts with a gym, kitchen, video security, ample office space, ISDN line availability, free Wi-Fi/DSL internet, free local and long distance calling, a TriCaster unit for live web streaming, and more. From photo shoots to videos, Steve Harvey has hosted a variety of projects at his Green Screen Studio including Family Feud, BET, State Farm, Premiere Radio Networks, and Gospel Music Channel. A tour or booking of Steve Harvey’s Green Screen Studio in Atlanta can be arranged by contacting Rafael Ortiz-Guzman at 404-995-1609 or Leonard McGee at 404-995-1607.

Once again it is always about race. We live in a world where people are different so get over people. We need to get past the color of a person’s skin. I am happy that Family Feud is coming to the ATL. Steve Harvey is really good on this show.

“Feud” stopped being family-oriented when it moved to CBS and had questions like “Name something people consider to be an aphrodesiac.” They’ve been using questionable material for a good while now.

Congrats to Steve Harvey — but even bigger thanks to Tyler Perry who had the vision to see that Black Man – can own his own production company and produce quality programming. This is GREAT for ATLANTA — Good JOB STEVE!

@ Fred Garvin –The blog is about Steve Harvey–not Tyler Perry, but anyhow, what exactly are you basing your opinion of the waning of the fascination of T.P. on, because he just had a new movie out a month ago, that was hilarious and made millions.I guess you’ll be waiting around for him to disappear 25 years from now, like Oprah, eh?
@ Tina
Why does Tyler Perry have to do ANYTHING that Bill Gates does?

I would be more than honored, as a singing superheroine and disability rights activist, to work with Steve Harvey at his Green Screen Studios, which according to their information, is very Americans With Disabilities Act Friendly, which means that people with disabilities would be able to access the set of Family Feud, work out in their gym, shower in their luxurious locker rooms and also would have not only a disabilty casting director, but also an ADA Coodinator and a Disability Liaison for their studios. Steve, I accept your invitation to visit! DANGER WOMAN

I love Family Feud, and I love Steve Harvey. As a 40(ish) year old white woman, I think some people need to get over themselves and see Steve for what he truly is – a funny, talented, entertaining and yes (black) man who can handle this show and bring out its fantastic intricacies.
Love Steve Harvey and can’t wait to hear more from him!

DAN WILLIAMs: You “went to college with Steve Harvey”? I guess working THEIR as a custodian qualifies you as having “went to college with Steve Harvey” Did you really garaduate from high school? Thet teach a class we used to call “English” and somewhere around third grade maybe we get edu-mi-kaded about such words as “their” and “there” and even “over thar”. You blogged “their is no limit to his range”………….. but, obviously, THEIR is a limit to your range with the English language. Hey, maybe when you get your How-To-Become-A-Contestant application and your momma helps you “gitter dunn” and all, maybe one of Steve’s challenging FF questions to you-n-the kin-folk standin’ dar witch you in da spotlight will be: “Name something Dan Williams has trouble with” and I betcha all yo’ kin-folks will probly all say da same thing: Knowing when to say T-h-e-r-e as opposed to T-h-e-i-r! And if your’re kin-folk are really foh-chew-nut to even bee thar, maybe, just maybe, Harvey will then say “The survey said:……………………”S-U-C-C-E-S-S”! Dan, you can’t spale worth-a-damn. Guess while they wuz teachin’ English, you wuz doing what Ray Ray wuz doin’…………………… hidin’ in da damn trunk.

@Mitzymy, Maybe you don’t know it but out of 5.5 million in the metro area only about 1.6 million are black so how is this area mostly black, Atlanta has a large black population yes, hell even the city proper is getting whiter by the year so where is your basis for your comment without going on some “I’m free to say what I feel” crap, while true you can say what you please but at least make sure they are correct facts.

Steve Harvey ruined this show. He is not funny and talks down to the contestants, insults them. I was regular viewer until this ugly sickening moron started. Being in Atlanta just gives him more blacks to be on the show.

Is it just us, or does it seem that on all the cop shows the bad guys are always white 87% of the time. The bad cop, the dirty cop is always……white!
Think about it people.

the truth and english language commander– wow, just down right nasty people, that is what you are. @jacksonville- nooooo, steve would stand next to ANYONE to promote himself. paul harvey would not be caught anywhere near his “son” steve, (that was a funny one by the way). i do not like steve harvey. i do not like his books, i do not like his comedy and i do not like his suits (except on really tall, good looking guys). anyway- not liking him does not equate to hating him. i do not wish him ill and because no one makes me watch him, we can both live free of each other. there is so much hate on this blog that it is just unreal. individualistic opinions are essential. hate is a given, but dagggggggg- too, too much. and pago flyer, not quite sure where you are coming from- but, there are more europeans in the U.S. than Blacks, so… that is the answer to your question. the unasked question is why are more Blacks in jail? or is that an urban myth?

“…wondering how a blog thread about an entertainer bringing a family-oriented game show to Atlanta, thus providing jobs and helping the local economy, can become an excuse by some to talk about race relations.”
Because every blog thread here with more than 5 comments ends up the same way?

I wonder how it feels to hate or discredit some one because of their race? Wow that must be miserable. Sad part about it online they let their true feelings out. But we stand in line, eat at restaurants, ask to get over a lane in traffic around these people, and even work right next to them and they dont say a peep. So sad.
