Steve Harvey’s ‘Family Feud’ moving to Atlanta

CREDIT: Family Feud

CREDIT: Family Feud

Atlanta comic Steve Harvey, who hosts his nationally syndicated radio show out of Buckhead, spent a few weeks last year taping 180-plus episodes of “Family Feud” out of Orlando for his first season as host.

But with the syndicated game show seeing improved ratings under the helm of Harvey, he used his influence to convince the producers to move the show to Atlanta.

Harvey replaced actor John O’Hurley as host and has been given the freedom to pepper in his own brand of physical and verbal humor into the game.

I will add more details as I get them. I am also seeking information about how to be in the studio audience as well as contestants on this classic game show, which has seen several hosts over the decades.

Harvey, heard locally no Majic 107.5/97.5,  is also promoting his own production operation called Green Screen Studios. (UPDATE:  “Family Feud” will be taped elsewhere, not at his studios). Here are details from his press release today.

Harvey expands the spotlight on Atlanta as a hub for Hollywood talent and work with the creation of his Green Screen Studio. With over two decades of experience entertaining audiences worldwide on stage, television and movie screens, radio and in books as a comedian, writer, producer and more, Steve Harvey brings more Hollywood-quality offerings home to the South, creating a big, versatile space that’s already been the site for numerous corporate and network video and photo work

Says Harvey, “It only feels natural to provide a production need in a growing entertainment market like Atlanta, and offer a well-sized alternative to the smaller green screen rooms I’ve seen.” Providing a full range of amenities to inspire and produce the best photos, video or web content, Steve Harvey’s Green Screen Studio boasts flexibility and the space to shoot almost anything without overwhelming, serving utmost convenience and manageability in 1405 square feet of working space. The 3-sided cyc wall green screen area measures 665 square feet, with an additional open area of 740 square feet, while the rest of the stage area includes a lighting grid with power, sound room and control room. Steve Harvey’s Green Screen Studio also features numerous comforts with a gym, kitchen, video security, ample office space, ISDN line availability, free Wi-Fi/DSL internet, free local and long distance calling, a TriCaster unit for live web streaming, and more. From photo shoots to videos, Steve Harvey has hosted a variety of projects at his Green Screen Studio including Family Feud, BET, State Farm, Premiere Radio Networks, and Gospel Music Channel. A tour or booking of Steve Harvey’s Green Screen Studio in Atlanta can be arranged by contacting Rafael Ortiz-Guzman at 404-995-1609 or Leonard McGee at 404-995-1607.

I read that they were going to shoot at the Unpronounceable Jones Civic Center. Did that fall through? I hope not because 3-sided green screen cyc = virtual set = suck.

WOW, ATL is on the Rise!

We have ScreenGems, Turner Studios, Tyler Perry Studios, & now, Steve Harvey’s Studios too.

I don’t care what you call it: Black Hollywood or Holywood South….how about ATL = Black Hollywood South. At least it IS an industry which is much more than we can say for the “Real Estate” industry (commercial and residential) which has effectively got the city in a major chokehold.

Harvey is fine in his old sitcom and in the “Feud”, but his on stage comic routes are very “black stereotyped” where he has to pepper every-other word with a “MF” this and that in order to try to be funny. Not funny. Still, I wish him well with this venture in the area.

It’s funny how if you even say “black,” you’re a racist. Have you ever heard a black comedian do a whole show without mentioning his race? I never have. But, it’s funny. I actually love Steve Harvey except when he gets on a political rant. Of course, by now, their political leanings is highly embarrassing, so maybe he’ll cool it.

He is really raking in the dough! He’s been the host for a year & convinced them to move the show to where he lives….AND…HIS company is going to produce the show…WOW. He was in NY for his radio show, but moved to ATL when he married Marjorie. She wanted to stay in Atlanta and he’s tired of being away from home all the time.

The content of FF is now more vulgar than ever before. His professed Christianity has not cleaned up the sexual vulgarities of FF. I like him, yet I don’t find him funny on the show. It’s definitely a race card. Hope he doesn’t attend Eddie Long’s failing church!

Steve Harvey thank you brother! Your vision has been fantastic for our people. Even down to the suits. I used to sell suits at a clothing store you partner with here in Atlanta. And I can’t begin to tell you how many black men wanted your suits because of the cut in the shoulders and the cut in the pants. Most european designers cut there suits for people who look like them. You cut yours for people who look like you. Now some didnt like the style but you heard there voices and changed that to a more conservative style. Now I know brothers that are in corporate america that feel empowered to wear your suits to work. They feel like hey I have on a quality suit designed by my brother and thats priceless. My message is not about suits its about the positive influence you have made on our community by spreading all the knowledge you have. Thanks you big brother.

I hope they still have the same quality of contestants as before. Since ATL is mostly black, it should not mean that all of the contestants are black. They should be screened by the producers in another state and brought to ATL. I don’t really like Steve as a host of this show. It seems to be out of his area of entertainment.

For those who say Steve Harvey shows favoritism to the Blacks, you are so wrong, i watch every episode and he interacts and jokes with everyone equally. I like Family Feud, regardless of who is the host, its a nice game show, i do not see any prejudice, well at least not on screen. Come on, people we are all humans with same red blood, stop the hating, life is too short for all this hatred. Why can’t we just be happy for each other…wow.

Rodney the phrase, “he pulled his weight,” would mean he took on his share of the workload. The correct phrase for your context would be, “he threw his weight around,” meaning he exercised the power and influence he had in the situation.

Its crazy how white folks still continue to hate on black people but yet our president is Black. I wonder what they are thinking deep down inside to know that a black dude is running the country. It kills me b/c its so funny to see so many dumb white folks LOL….oh yeah and I am white and I love blacks and all other race of people. I dont hate on anyone b/c God said to love everyone. Congrat to Steve and bringing entertainment over to Atlanta!

You idiots pull the race card for every article with a Black person as the subject. I’m sure you also call yourselves Christian. Keep reading your Bibles.

Anyway, this is good news. Anytime business is brought to Atlanta, it’s good news. I don’t watch the show, and I’m not a big fan of Harvey. But if we can start bringing Hollywood business to Atlanta, it can only help the city.

Race has nothing to do with most articles, however we tnd to continually make it into a race thing. We are all created equal. I don’t watch this show, but hopefully it will be good for our economy. We need more jobs, etc cause most corporations are moving so many jobs overseas. No matter what your race, it hurts all of us when businesses flee our country and take jobs elsewhere. This is a true problem in our current society and rather than focusing on race, why don’t we all join together to figure out how to demand that the companies who we give our money to keeps their jobs here for us as employment. I am tired of calling for customer service issues and having someone on the other line whose language I can’t clearly understand. It’s frustrating and it’s not right. Let’s figure out a way to band together & worktogether for the greater good of our society.

The fascination with Tylet Perry is waning. Seems like a nice guy, but very overrated. He had his name in the title of eveything because they would fail if not. He needs to quit spending so much money on houses and save it. The well may very well run dry.

I like Tyler Perry. Not crazy about all his tv shows or movies, but for the most part, very likable guy. What I dont understand is his real estate choices. He had a McMansion, which he used as location for Diary of a mad black woman. Too many people knew the location of that house so he sold it and built his dream home in Atlanta. Huuuuuuuuuuuuuge house. Same place he had the reception at when he opened his studios. Now, it is my understanding that he purchased Dean Gardens, which was the most expensive piece of real estate in Ga. Word is, he is gonna knock that down and build his dream home….which I am sure will be larger than the last castle he built. Yes, his money and he can do as he please, but wow…..you dont see Bill Gates doing that. And remember…..Tyler is single without children. Go figure. And for the record…..I am black.
