WGST’s Rusty Humphries detained in Egypt

humphries

Producer Jake Cook sent me a link to a story that said Rusty Humphries, heard locally from 3 to 6 p.m., was detained in Egypt for reasons unknown.

Humphries is spending the week in the Mideast, including Jerusalem. Cook wrote me this:

Last I spoke to him, Rusty said that he and news anchor Jennifer Perry were headed to the Southern Israeli city of Eilat. Yesterday, he talked about crossing the border into Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt to speak with some citizens of those countries.

He’s supposed to be doing his broadcast live from Jerusalem tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.

It sounds like Humphries was not supposed to be in Egypt!

UPDATE Wednesday, May 25, 4 p.m. EST: UPDATE (Wednesday, May 25, 4:09 p.m.) from Jake:

He made it back to Jerusalem and is broadcasting now until 6pm.

He told the story on the air. They were detained just over the border, interrogated for an hour and a half, forced to delete some digital pictures and audio, then eventually released.

He moved from Oregon and joined WGST earlier this year to do a local show. He continues to do his syndicated show, which pays the bills.

LOL tore…he has talent, but maybe its because he does not subscribe to whatever agenda you are in league with for you to come to that conclusion? I’m guessing you’re one of those hate-mongering leftist liberal types that only want to see bad things happen to those you disagree with. Stop the hate! Turn from the Darkside!

Glad they got him, maybe WGST can fix their huge mistake and replace the gas bag with Dave Ramsey. What a stupid decision those idiots made.

Does this mean we can put THE KIMMER back on the air on the afternoons on WGST where he belongs?

I’m glad to provide an update. You were probably busy.

The 640 WGST crew was held for about 90 minutes before being released.

“It made for a tense situation, and for a long time we had no idea what was going on,” said Perry.

Humphries and Perry made it to Jerusalem Tuesday night. They plan to broadcast from Israel Wednesday and Thursday.

Seriously, in these dark days under 0bama (no pun intended), we need THE KIMMER back on the air more than ever.

Amassing perilous debt ($383,000/citizen) and preventing millions of people from providing adequately for their families seems a whole lot worse than “wish[ing] bad” on people–if indeed that were the case–but it’s not.

Liberals wanting endless handouts have all but destroyed the U.S.

Doing bad > wishing bad.

Get a clue Clear Channel your ratings are still in the tank and are getting lower by the second, you hire a no name morning guy who’s last job was at a radio station that was shut down due to lack of revenue. Oh yeah lets hire him to headline our morning show. Then you get this HUMP to do afternoons. No wonder people are willing to pay for radio via Sat-radio or online apps and the like. ‘*shaking my head*.’

Pretty pathetic that he hasn’t even moved the needle at GST versus an ultra weak syndicated program. Ditto Rob Johnson.

Has Kimmer been offered a contract yet come out of retirement and take back his 3 PM afternoon slot?

If not, why is this taking so long?
