Fox postpones hurricane-themed ‘Family Guy,’ ‘American Dad,’ ‘Cleveland Show’ shows after recent storms

*Apr 28 - 00:10*

This Sunday, Fox was planning to air cross-over episodes of “Family Guy,” “American Dad” and “The Cleveland Show” revolving around a hurricane.

In light of the recent deadly storms and tornado damage in the Southeast, the network has decided to postpone the episodes until next season.

The concept was to have the hurricane affect characters on all three animated programs, all a brainchild of Seth MacFarlane.

In a story in Hollywood Reporter, MacFarlane said Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly wanted a theme night like they used to for sitcoms  in the 1980s.

“There were talks initially of doing a crossover with all the characters from all the shows but it became a little bit of a conundrum because you have three different staffs, each of whom is used to writing three different sets of characters,” he said. “This idea of an outside force that sweeps its way through all three shows seemed like a cool way to accomplish that.”

The New York Daily News provided the plot summaries:

Starting at 8:30 on “The Cleveland Show,” it will slam into Stoolbend, where the Brown and Tubbs families are trying to kick back and enjoy their vacation.

At 9, it blows into Quahog on “Family Guy,” where Brian responds as he often does, with self-medication of questionable merit.

By 9:30, it has crashed through Langley Falls, where the stalwart citizens of “American Dad” decide to stay home and ride it out. This decision, like Brian’s, proves problematic.

We’ll have to wait for the fall to find out what happens.

You two losers can move to communist china if you like media censorship. If you don’t like a program then don’t watch it. You don’t have a right NOT to be offended or insulted. I’m sick of pansy @ss people trying to tell ME what to watch just because they have shells of thin glass that are so sensitive. You crawl into a corner and curl up into a fetal position becasue you’re sooo scared of being offended. Get a life and grow some….

It is a good idea b/c, the first crossover show would’ve gone up against the last half of The Amazing Race.

@Sean…..I agree with the supporters of Family Guy 100%!

Some people these days want to protest everything. Family Guy is a hilarious show. The Producers do not discriminate, they make fun of every race, actor, political views and religion. If you feel this show is so terrible then don’t watch it. There’s plenty of reality crap on that I’m sure many of you will find interesting. I love the show, because with all the turmoil going on in the world; this show allows you to laugh and escape the drama in our media for 30 minutes.

Why postpone these shows? Did MacFarlane make the hacneyed joke about tornadoes making hundreds of millions of dollars in IMPROVEMENTS in Alabama and Arkansas? If not, then the shows should go on. As for the people who think the shows are tasteless and cynical, I couldn’t agree more. Aren’t they just refreshing and wonderful for that reason? Quite a change from the mind-numbing drivel of reality shows and self-righteous Oprah with all her contrived, petty and pathetic “feelings”. Time to go, Oprah. Time to go.
