Piers Morgan, host of his own show on CNN and “America’s Got Talent’ judge, tried to get to Minneapolis from New York via Delta Air Lines yesterday. But he got turned around and complained about it incessantly on Twitter (kind of like former Fan sports talk update guy/producer Chadd Scott last week.)
His flight was on its way to Minneapolis when it turned around back to New York.
In the end, he missed “America’s Got Talent” auditions yesterday.
He was peeved and gave it his all to his 470,000-plus followers.
Here’s the entire sequence from yesterday. Enjoy!
My plane was 50 mins away from landing in Minneapolis for AGT auditions today, when it turned round and is now heading BACK to NY.
Can someone explain to me, perhaps from Delta, what the **** is going on – as none of your crew seem to have the foggiest?
I will now be landing back in New York an hour before I’m supposed to start judging AGT auditions in Minneapolis. Thanks Delta.
Someone told me DELTA stands for ‘Don”t Ever Leave The Airport.’ Not correct. They leave, then come back again. #utterfarce
Pilot: ‘Good news is we’ll be on the ground in about 25 mins.’ Yes, but it’s the wrong ground, isn’t it my friend? The WRONG BLOODY GROUND.
Still on tarmac. Not moving. Ominous.
Flight attendant just smiled, then whispered to me: ‘Not looking good.’ #mixedmessageWe are ‘de-planing’ – everyone off. What an absolute bloody joke. Be ashamed Delta. This is shocking even by your standards.
And you can all relax at Delta now because the gates of Hades will freezeth over before I darken your pitifully incomptent doors again.
And you can all relax at Delta now because the gates of Hades will freezeth over before I darken your pitifully incomptent doors again.
So sorry to AGT audience for not being there today. Never missed a show in six years. Will be there tomorrow if I have to yomp there.
Admit it, even if you hate my guts, you’re pulling for me now in Operation Get Morgan To Minneapolis – right?
This is at about 9 p.m. last night:
Engines on. De-icing finished. I see a flicker of light at the end of this long dark tunnel….
Taking off! Minneapolis, here I come…. #notgoodnewsfordodgycontestants
At midnight today
Touchdown. I’m in Minneapolis. Thank you Tim Mapes – the man who single-handedly, and against all odds, restored my faith in Delta.
To deploy, and slightly amendm, the vernacular of @charliesheen – it’s been a day of quite spectacular ‘whining, duh’ Apologies.
Morgan will be in Atlanta April 12 to 14 for “America’s Got Talent” auditions at Fox Theatre. Will he use Delta then?

All airlines have problems, but DELTA does seem to be the worst at explaining to its customers what the problems are. Most people deal calmly with a delay when they know the reason, but when all you hear is “I don’t know” its irritating and just poor Customer Service. Delta needs to look at the communication skills from the top down to the baggage handler, as I am sure its irritating to the Delta employees who have to look like fools and tell us “I don’t know” because they really don’t cause of the lack of communication from Deltas management.

Piers Morgan is an arrogant, ignorant moron. Last week he was talking, on air, about all the “nuclear explosions” in Japan. How does he dress himself?

Biggest laugh of my day came when the ex-Brit described Morgan as “an odious waste of skin.” Gotta admire an accurate portrayal of the man so simply and well-drawn. I don’t tweet myself, but how does someone like this attract 470,000 “followers.” Are we a nation of idiots? Apparently…..
Every company that provides a service to the public stubs their toe now and again. Delta is a lot better than most, based on my experience. Get a life Morgan and pull those silk panties from between your cheeks.

For all you people so happy about Southwest coming to ATL, have you EVER flown Southwest?? It is like a cattle call to board the plane. And if you ever price them from a city that they fly to to another city, the tickets are not cheap! So what that you don’t have to pay for your bags. I would rather have a decent seat on the plane than free checked bags! Also, no business or first class? Puhhhhleassseee!

When I first came to Atlantain 79 the major players were Delta and Eastern. Both provided exceptional service. Over the years delta has becine beyond pathetic. The flight attendants are beyond rude. I remember one flight where I had bought my food. (4 hours no food). They passed out sorry pretzles and a cup of soda. The man next to me asked for an extra bag, she gave him a look. I passed mine to him. The only time I fly Delta is when I have to and i make sure to bring my own headphones, music and food. I dont ask them foranything and I dont ask themfor anything andthey don’t have to talk to me. I will be glad when Southwest comes and I hope JetBlue comes back.

Tim Mapes is the marketing director at Delta. Hope he was as helpful to all of the passenger who don’t appear on mindless television shows. Piers is a typical Brit, full of himself for absolutely no apparent reason.

Every airline has issues due to weather conditions, etc.; here’s the problem with Delta…PISS poor communication. It’s Communication 101, folks; even it the circumstances are beyond Delta’s control, they need to COMMUNICATE what’s going on and do it OFTEN..that’s what they don’t do. If they just keep their passengers informed, that would go such a long way but they don’t. Sigh…so elementary it makes me wonder about Delta’s leadership

If there was a problem with the plane, why would they just not land at the closest available airport?

Thought you were not going to be a “bleeping” prima donna! I watched your talk show until this rant, however, NEVER again. Delta is a very good company and you are going to lose viewers over this. I hope CNN fires your ass right away! Your bad words about Delta are just unacceptable. Maybe, just maybe your new job has gone to your head real quick. Maybe quick enough for people to stop watching and you get sacked! I am sure all of those people you tweeted don not really care that you were late for AGT. Knocking a GREAT American company like Delta airlines is just unacceptable for you as foreigner!

No company or its’ people are perfect. I support Delta as a local company because of the people in this area it employs. It all trickles down.

this is all very entertaining. i like to use twitter to complain to the universe too but i dont have hundreds of thousands of followers. Delta is in part responsible for many of their own mess, in my history of flying in and out of the northwest and northeast from the west coast i have never had NWA cancel a flight in to MSP or DTW due to snow. It rains in ATL and Delta will preemptively canX thousands of flights now that the merger is complete this winter there were thousands of flight cancelled every week for amounts of snow that NWA would have laughed at and were well prepared to deal with. Good luck if your plane get catered in Atlanta, there global hub, this summer they ran out of ICE! Delta cant seem to manage what should be simple operations. another flight i was on catering had run out of carts, so they had to run bags of supplies up the steps and stow them in overhead bins. Never ever seen that happen before on another airline. and to those poor agents. NWA was a leader in technology and when they merged they went back 10 years in software, simple things like rebooking could be accomplished in one click, delta system has to do each passenger one by one. next time your stuck in an airport with these people have a conversation with them and you will learn loads. Keep in mind NWA also had a distinguished weather department in MSP and that was all boarded up when DL rolled into town, ever notice how DL never seems to know when your going to hit rough air, they just look out the window and tell you what they think, and how that seatbelt sign stays on for 40 min after the plane has leveled off. they have no idea what the weather is, they are just looking out the window and i can do that myself. every other airline will tell you, how bad and how long it will be and then let you know if they will be adjusting altitude. Its incredible.
