Kelly Stevens, part of the B98.5 morning team for nearly a decade until 2008, is returning to the station’s morning show slot starting March 21.
Stevens joins Vikki Locke, who has been doing a solo show since the soft-rock station released her long-time on-air partner Steve McCoy early last year. The name of the new show: The B98.5 Morning Show with Vikki and Kelly.
Stevens will also take on the producer role, filling the spot left by Will Gara, who was released from his duties at the station last week. Gara was at the station for 17 years. (Jessica Forkel very actively collects material for the show as well.)
Stevens, who returned to Cox Radio Atlanta last year on a part-time basis after a two-year absence, had been doing weekend fill-in for B98.5 before recently joining 97.1/The River’s afternoon drive. He will continue in that role as well.
“It’s an awesome opportunity,” Stevens said. “The opportunity to work with someone like Vikki is incredible. I’m just so happy to be back. My circle has come full circle.”
B98.5’s morning ratings slipped after McCoy’s departure for a few months but recovered in the latter part of 2010.
Stevens, a motorcycle enthusiast, was teamed with Alpha Trivette from 1999 to 2008 on B98.5, which regularly lands in the top 10 in Atlanta radio in popularity. The station ranked seventh in January and had a cumulative weekly audience of 1.3 million listeners.
