Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva” is back in production starting today in Peachtree City for a third season.
The show slipped slightly in season two in ratings but remained a solid performer, averaging 2.6 million viewers (down from 2.8 million season one). The light, frothy drama starring Brooke Elliott is known for peppering in celebrity appearances. In the past, the show has featured Liza Minnelli, Rosie O’Donnell, Delta Burke, Elliot Gould, Ricki Lake, Tim Gunn, Cybill Shepherd and Vivica A. Fox, to name a few.
Country singer and actress LeAnn Rimes will be shooting today playing the estranged wife of a hard-partying celebrity on trial for a hit-and-run charge.
Paula Abdul, who has shown up several times on the show as a dream judge and voice of reason in Jane’s mind, will be back again. Wendy Williams, the talk show host who just signed on to be on “Dancing With the Stars,” will also appear on the episode in a dream sequence choreographed by “So You Think You Can Dance’s” Keith “Tyce” Diorio and featuring dancers from that program. Williams is set to visit Atlanta on March 15.
Episodes are set to air this summer. And there are plans to do more shoots outside of Peachtree City.
