Herman Cain’s WSB Radio show on hiatus; Erick Erickson takes over

Herman Cain, after three years on AM750 and now 95.5FM News/Talk WSB, aired his final show Tuesday night so he could pursue a possible presidential bid.

Program Director Pete Spriggs dubs it a “hiatus.”

“Depending how it goes and what he decides and how successful he is,” Spriggs said, ” it could be a very long-term hiatus from the air. He has the exploratory committee to explore the possibility of running for president. It’ s been impossible to do that as it needs to be done across the country and do his talk show.”

Beginning Thursday, Cain will be replaced in the 7 to 10 p.m. time slot by Erick Erickson, who joined WSB Radio last month and whose show had been airing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Financial expert Dave Ramsey, who left 640/WGST-AM at the end of 2010 and joined WSB Radio, will cover 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. He had been airing from midnight to 3 a.m.

Cain, a conservative businessman who also subbed for Neal Boortz over the years, will talk with Erickson from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday night, according to Erickson on his website www.redstate.com.

Erickson has been contributing to CNN’s “John King, USA” for the past few months from 7 to 8 p.m. Erickson did not say how he will reconcile that responsibility but said he will remain with CNN, as well as run his website.

Because of Federal Communications Commission equal-time provisions, if Cain runs for office, it would complicate his ability to air a radio show because an opponent would have the right to request “equal time.”

Spriggs said that is not an issue yet since Cain has not officially declared he was running for office.

For an individual who professes to have been an “executive”, you seem to lack basic English skills.

Let’s get serious here. After Obama, there will probably never be another black man elected as president. Obama was an “experiment”. People expected him to wave a magic wand and make all of the problems of the last 8 years vanish overnight. It wasn’t to be. He was just a fresh face offering change and hope to a nation which was dangling at the end of a rope. Now, people realize that he is not Jesus Christ , but just a man doing the best that he can. Let’s face reality. This is still America and Herman would have to be able to walk on water while tossing corn cobs to flying pigs to win the nomination. Herman, old buddy, use your remaining years wisely and take up time with your grandkids. Take them to the movies, fishing, or on picnics. You will be wasting your time on a bid for the presidency.

Knowledge is power and Ignorance is Bliss…. you took time to critique my language skills but you didn’t comment on the issues of discussion. And this is a blog…not an English class. If precise correct grammer was a requirement then this blog would not exist.

Wait a minute, (laughter), now…, (more laughter), this guy thinks he has a chance. Operative word, thinks. I think I can play Major Leauge Baseball. I think I could be a neurosurgeon. But I couldn’t get wood on a fastball and my degree is in History. Operative word, think…until reality sets in. I know that’s what Herman Cain needs at this point, R-E-A-L-I-T-Y…

This is a terrible thing to have to say, but Herman will never win a national election. It is mostly because his lack of proper pronunciation and enunciation when he speaks makes him sound very ghetto. Yes, Herman is very smart, but he says fitty, unka and ax for fifty, uncle and ask.

I adore Herman, but....

Herman is awesome but:

1) Didn’t he get in trouble for not paying taxes once? Like, A LOT of taxes? Maybe I am confused – I hope I am. I was thinking Herman Cain was in trouble for something a while back….and I thought it was not paying taxes. Does anyone know?

2) I love him, but…..shouldn’t we have him doing a show that covers both slots, and have Dave Ramsey running for President? I would LOVE to have Ramsey or Clark Howard running and would vote for them on any ticket – party wouldn’t even matter.

He does??

i wonder if mr. erickson will be as nasty on his new radio show as he is on his blog. it’s one thing to put it in print, you are distanced from it. it’s another to vocalize ugly, nasty commentary. we’ll see.

First of all, Herman Cain makes a terrible pizza. For that reason alone, he should be disqualified from holding any public office. Secondly, don’t you have to be at least a little bit likeable to win a public office?

I am sooo glad he is gone. Wsb radio ratings should get a boost. How can he run for anything when he is mostly a divider not a uniter. He is making money for himself. I get tired of these so call conservative trying to capitalize. Call it what it is! Waste of time and money. Go help create more jobs if that is your role and not the government!

I wish him the best of luck because he truly believes that he wants to fix this country, but he can’t blame the “lamestream media” when his plans go awry. His own people are going to trip up, not black people, but these so-called conservatives who will get bored talking about the issues and begin to nitpick. Just like they did with Romney, because he was a Mormon.

As you hear or read Mr Cain’s biography, it’s important to understand he didn’t create Godfather Pizza – it was a division of Pillsbury needed a place of use Mr Cain’s talents. He had been supervising operations of Burger King in Philadelphia, and they put him in charge of turning around Godfather Pizza. Godfather Pizza was mostly a franchise operation, not a company operated chain. Pillsbury got out of the pizza business within 2 years because it wasn’t making enough money – and Herman Cain led a buyout group funded by CitiBank… After the spinoff, many of the franchisees left the chain.

It’s funny how most of you are so negative about Mr. Cain. This is fine but it’s the (hater) tone of a majority of you that’s caught my attention. It’s likely that those select people are the same Government hacks trying to get your hands into everybody’s pockets because you don’t have enough intestinal fortitude or self accountability to get up off your ***** to make a difference for yourselves, your families or this country. Instead, you would rather sit on your couch and tear anybody down the first chance you get because they have decided to step up to the plate. Many of you probably make a career out of it. So keep that followers mentality folks. Maybe one day, some of you might decide to break the mold and actually lead.

Whether he wins or loses is not the point (it doesn’t matter to me personally), the point is that he is attempting to make a difference unlike a majority of you commenting. That is what matters.
