‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ recap, episode 14: Crazy NeNe is back!

rhoa_nene_kim_fight_375“This is my tour, my tour bus, my shows, my fans. Why is this starting to feel like the Kim and Nene show?” - Kandi

Poor Kandi Burruss.

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta’ reality show producers clearly told her to bring Kim Zolciak along on her pre-release promo tour and better yet, stick them both on a tour bus. “That,” the producers figured, “will generate drama.”

Even better: have NeNe Leakes show up!

The result was exactly what the producers were hoping for: yet another Kim and NeNe dust up!

What was up with NeNe tonight?

As usual, it’s NeNe who is the source of the drama. She comes on the bus with a bug up her you know what. She imitates Kim on stage in a disrespectful way to Kim’s face, then says she’s upset with the way Kim talks to her assistant Sweetie. (Kandi agrees, but doesn’t make a direct issue of it.)

“You think you can talk to her like a slave?” NeNe asks. (This was the second slave reference to Kim in this episode. Earlier, Kandi’s tour manager Don Juan saw Kim sitting on a patio chair outside the bus and said she looked like a slave owner selling the plantation.)

“You call my assistant a slave?” Kim responds, dumbfounded.

“You call your assistant a slave!” NeNe says.

“The way Kim is treating Sweetie is unacceptable to me,” NeNe says later to the cameras. “I don’t like it. Not only are you disrespecting Sweetie, you’re disrespecting me. She’s a fool for sitting there and letting [Kim] talk to her that way.”

Kandi at this point is burying her head in her hands. (Can you blame her?)

“Clearly,” Kim concludes to the cameras later,  ” she is jealous of my success.”

That is a theory. And for Kim, a pretty reasonable one.

“You are so ridiculous,” NeNe scoffs. “I’m not competitive at all.” (There’s a lie!)

“You think you’re Lady Gaga,” NeNe then tells Kim. “You’re second best and you know it.”

Kim shoots back: “You’re an intern at 11 Alive.” (Which is true.)

NeNe then implies she has her own show. Kim points out that she is doing entertainment segments on a local news program, hardly her own show.

Kim then asks why NeNe brought up Kim during her interview with Jermaine Dupri on 11 Alive. NeNe earlier said that actually helped break the ice with Jermaine. Now NeNe says she was simply asking questions.

“You’re a dumb, immature blonde!” NeNe eventually says.

“You’re a dumb bitch!” Kim responds.

This sets off NeNe and she stands up and approaches Kim. Don Juan intervenes and keeps NeNe away from Kim before she goes all Jerry Springer on Kim’s wig.

“What are you going to do?” Kim says. “Strangle me again?” (Yes, Kim accused NeNe last season of strangling her at Atlantic Station and filed a police report against her. The Bravo cameras were not around for that.)

“Don’t talk to me like that or I will!” NeNe says.

“As soon as she got out of that seat, I knew our friendship was over,” Kim said later. “Never again!” (Is she serious this time?)

Then they have to stay on that bus for a bit longer. Awkward! Kim tries to get the bus driver to pull over but he says there are alligators. No way! (Yet, having alligators attack Kim and NeNe? That’s a Syfy movie!)

Earlier, Kim and Sweetie drive Kandi nuts on the bus by being loud and annoying and stopping the bus frequently to smoke.

“Sweetie and Kim are getting on my nerves,” Kandi said. “They never calm down. It’s always at a 10 level. I can’t take it.”

At one point, Kandi and her manager tease Sweetie for becoming too “white” by hanging out with Kim so much. And Kim, going barefoot to take a smoke is a white thing, Kim’ s hairstylist Derek J said. (My wife, who is from the South, said she’s heard that stereotype, too.)

Sweetie complains about being teased to Kim while outside. Kim yells into the bus: “What’s wrong with hanging with white people?”

Derek explains why Sweetie is upset so Kandi goes outside, muttering , “I’m sick of this s**t!”  She tells Sweetie to take a chill pill, that she’s been uptight herself. Sweetie denies it. It’s tense but Sweetie doesn’t escalate  the argument and Kandi backs off.

“I’m here as a professional,” Kandi said later. “I’m trying to handle my business on this tour. I’m not letting Kim’s little assistant get under my skin and throw me off my game.”

Here’s what happened with the other housewives:

- Cynthia Baileys fiance Peter Thomas shuts down his downtown Uptown Lounge and Restaurant (or what Cynthia likes to call Uptown Supper Club.)  It’s losing too much money. But they counted on income from that club to pay for the wedding. Now he said they need $20,000 they don’t have. Cynthia admits to having no income coming in (at least until the Bravo check clears.). She keeps planning her wedding, ignoring advice from NeNe and her sister Malorie to postpone it.

- Phaedra Parks begins working from home while taking care of Ayden Adonis, her beautiful baby. She argues lightly with Apollo about parenting issues, but it’s nothing serious. Cynthia visits Phaedra’s baby and Ayden spits up on Cynthia’s ample bosom. Adorable!

- Second week in a row where Sheree Whitfield had no real plotline. She did get a few seconds in which she’s seen sending off her kids to her ex husband Bob in California. She snarkily says he’ll probably ship them off to his mom’s.

- Kim tries to light her cigarette on a griddle on the bus kitchen.  Shockingly, it doesn’t work.

- Derek J, the gay hairstylist, wears stilettos outside the tour bus in front of a barbecue joint.

“Damn! That’s a sexy bitch!”Kim, to herself.

“Lord have mercy. Kim thinks she’s a real pop star. Okay, really, Kim?” – NeNe.

NeNe shows up on “Watch What Happens Live” with Iman, who has never seen “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” (Iman doesn’t even watch her own Bravo program “Fashion Show.” Nobody else is either, based on the ratings.)

Of Kim, “she loves to play the victim role,” NeNe said during the show, which aired four days after the reunion we’ll be seeing in two weeks. “Kim’s the rudest chick. Her vocabulary is very limited.”

“I never wanted to get on that bus in the place,” she added. “When I watched that footage, I feel bad for my children having to watch it. I apologize for my children seeing that… having to stoop to such a trash level. When you mess with trash, it will get all  over you.”

Clearly, their friendship is over – again. And NeNe much of the night just looked morose.

“I haven’t spoken to Kim in six months,” she said. (If you saw the New Year’s show in which both were in the studio, you could clearly sense the chill.)

Andy Cohen, who is both host and a Bravo executive, does not bring up the Zap2It report in which NeNe says she’s not interested in doing “Real Housewives” again. Could it be a negotiating tactic on Kim’s part?

More arguments between Kim and NeNe in Miami. Cynthia breaks down, worried about her wedding and impending marriage.

The 13th episode on January 9 drew 3.35 million viewers, the most ever for the series. Tonight’s could do even better than that, even competing against “The Golden Globes.” One more original episode next week followed by the two reunion episodes  and a filler “lost footage” episode or what I would call the “leftovers” episode. (They taped the reunion episode this past Wednesday at the Georgia Aquarium.)

I wonder what Dr.Martin Luther King’s reaction would be to the behavior of the black women on this show ? Would he condone the behavior ?
” I have a dream ” ! Has his dream come true or is this a big slap in the face of black america ?
I don’t think he’d support any of the current entertainment targeted at black america ?
Most all of the material, especially wrap music brings black people down.
He wouldn’t like that.
What ever happened to the Cosby Show ?

NeNe is another in a long line of loud mouthed, uneducated bossy black women on TV who think they can gain an audience by being loud and obnoxious. She is a no talent hack and only gets away with her racist comments because she is black and she knows it. She is a female Al Sharpton. Once this shi–y show is off the air, she’ll be back collecting food stamps with her EBT card and going to book signings where the only one showing up is another fat ho like herself.

There’s no business like Ho Business…Not a reference to you Rodney, but NeNe, the loud mouthed talentless EBT card queen who will be selling her large ass on Metropolitan Ave once this shi–y show is finally canceled.

I don’t think NeNe is a racist but she is surely ignorant…and loud, disrespectful, jealous, ghetto, immature…should I go on?

I feel bad for Cynthia. I liked Peter until this episode. They really need a spiritual counselor and for sure they need more than one session.

Kim had every right to ask NeNe why she mentioned Kim during her interviiew on 11 Alive News with Jermaine Dupri. For some reason, NeNe got upset and lashed out at Kim. Maybe she had PMS or something but this fight was not Kim’s fault.

You think Nene is any different from the hundreds of thousands of other loud black women in Atlanta? I am constantly amazed at how loud and obnoxious some of the women I work with can be. I’ve seen enough noodle-necking, finger-snapping, weave-wearing, loud mouth women to last a lifetime. I can’t wait to retire and get the h… out of this city.

I can’t believe that some people have the nerve to bring in MLK references about this show…This is “ENTERTAINMENT”. There is nothing with any value towards society, but entertainment. Take it for what it is worth. As far as Nene, “it is what it is”.

Sounds like ignorance on both sides..from the show along with the comments posted..I work with white women who are just as hillbilly, loud, and obnoxious as NeNe..Believe me, they exist in EVERY race..

I guess that crap is rap ?
Dr. Martin Luther King fought, struggled for civil rights and won.
He then gave black america a blank check which came back marked ‘insufficient funds’ .
Is this how they appreciate what he did for them ?

I would say clearly this is an attempt to get an raise. I do believe NeNe is the drawing card for the show and she could possibly have other ventures out there, I believe she could handle a syndicated talk show and I think Atlanta needs one. You have Wendy Williams New York, Oprah Winfrey Chicago, so why not NeNe Leakes Atlanta. And I agree they way Kim treats Sweetie is disgusting I believe NeNe called it right because I have always said she treats her badly; but if Sweetie is a big enough fool to say with someone who treats her like that then she deserves it I have no pity for her and she also needs to take a look in the mirror at herself clothes too little makeup is hideous. But this is entertainment so the best to them all. “Smooches”.

Nene had EVERY Right to call out KIM, Kim is beside herself. She was acting very disrespectful and arrogant. And that ugly assistant of hers..urghhh…Kandi I wouldve kicked both of them off my bus. Kim is Trash and Sweetie is Stupid.
How does Apollo have employment and he was in prison for 6 years? He looks like he has a office job in Corporate America..How is that?

Let’s be fair, though! THESE women are NOT representive of GENUINE “Atlanta” housewives. Trust me! They are not. Except for Candi….none of them have anything going for them! I suppose this is why they agreed to do this “D” rating reality show which is, for the most part, a real joke!!! Mere entertainment???? Suppose it’s their way of “making a living” , at all any cost. After all, people are watching it and the more drama, it seems, the more folk watch. Candi, keep your eye on the prize, stay focused on your career, capitilize on the exposure this affording you and then “move on”!!!!!! You’re very talented and I wish you well!

Stop it, Black women!

January 17th, 2011
9:07 am

This type behavior is SO unbecoming and unnecessary and disgraceful. The examples of the women in this show is just another way that Black women disrespect themselves and the race. This–the negative media imagery of Black women (SOME OF it self-initiated!)–is mentioned in the ATL author’s book, Living Well Despite Catching Hell: The Black Woman’s Guide to Health, Sex and Happiness. Dress, and speak, like you want to be treated, ladies. Stop this foolishness. It’s disgraceful and damaging. I beckon you to be a better group of women.

January 17th, 2011
9:08 am

I swear this drives me crazy. The show is for entertainment purposes just like this blog. It has nothing to do with Dr. King! If you don’t like the show don’t watch. Clearly people love it because the rating are climbing every week and I predict it will be the highest for the reunion.

Now…I loved this eposide.

Kim: She swears she can sing and thought she was going to show Nene and she just looked bad. Not to mention she doesn’t sound good either. I’m surprised the audience didn’t just stare at her.

Cynthia: I feel bad for her but I’m confused about her being on the show to be honest. She’s a model but doesn’t seems to have any money coming in and her husband is broke. So they’re struggling, I would think if they brought someone in they would have some money. I doubt if the club was bringing in that much money in the past anyways.

Phaedra: Is becoming my favorite, as a new mom myself I agree with everything she was saying about Apollo.

Kandi: Love her! I felt bad that she had to be on the bus with Kim and Sweetie.

Sheree: Kinda normal this eposide but that’s cool

Nene: Love this girl she keeps it real. So what she’s an intern at the station she’s gotta start somewhere. Like she said her hustle is tight.

Some black people equate vocal intensity with righteousness or “be loud,be proud”. But let’s be careful of stereotyping. I’m married to a thoughtful, insightful, articulate and quiet black woman who is one of many that I have had the privilege of knowing. Nene (and Kim) are confusing “notoriety” with “noteworthy”. The only “real” woman on the show is Kandi. I just wish she spent her considerable talents mentoring a worthy (voice trained) novice rather than the no talent Kim.

January 17th, 2011

Nene was right about Kim in the fact that Kim treats her assistant like a slave. Sweety, or whatever her name is, IS an embarrassment to black women. Kim acts as though she doesn’t have a clue, but she does. Nene just called her out on it. Based on some of the comments I read, I know some of you white people see absolutely nothing wrong with Kim’s behavior, but it is absolutely appalling. Oh, and PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP IT!!!, with the “some black people this….”, “Some black people that…”, or “All black people….”. It really shows your southern ignorance and that you know, in general, absolutely nothing about black people. It’s stupid to generalize a group of people based one someone’s individual action. Case in point, the political right wing does not want to be, and rightfully so, blame for the actions of Jared Loughner.

Has anyone noticed that Cynthia is the ONLY woman on this show who doesn’t sound like a premium-packaged ghetto queen when she talks, yet in general, she gets the least air time of any of them taking the entire season into account? Says something about Bravo I guess (or maybe metro Atlanta).

Think about it!

January 17th, 2011
9:38 am

To LeLe: like it or not this show is out there and some people do think it represents black women. It may not be right, but it is a fact that people who do not know any black women will look at this show and think all black women are like these pitiful representations. It is the same thing as when the Dukes of Hazzards was on and people thought all white Southern people were like the characters on the show. As a white person I was offended by that so I certainly would not have helped the ratings of the show by watching it. I agree that we should not sterotype, but I also agree that sterotyping has been going on since ancient times and is a hard thing to overcome. Anthropologists would say that sterotyping was a survival skill to help people avoid danger when confronted with unknown people. I’m not saying it has any place in the modern world, just saying that it is a fact that it happens. If you think this show and other reality shows does not affect behavior of people, you should visit a local public school. Students have become much more angry, disrespectful, and loud in their discourse. These are not behaviors that will serve them well in the real world. I think we all know the answer to the question of whether MLK would like this show or not. He and other Civil Rights works sacrificed so much for Black American and the horrible behavior of these women is a disgrace to his memory. All the other reality HW shows are just as bad, but we are talking about HOA right now. If you want entertainment, there are so many more positive shows out there. You don’t have to resort to watching this garbage.

Maybe I am missing something….

Yes NeNe is loud, rude and a joke,
Yes Kim is clueless and a joke
Yes Pheadra is her biggest fan and I have to believe she is loosing future clients
Kandi is cool but like Lisa and Eric Snows wife she is not over the top so she will not be on long
Sheree is a entirely different story. Very forgettable
Cynthia who?

Let’s not make this a black or white issue. I’ve seen episodes from the other Housewive’s series and the women there are just as ignorant, self absorbed and classless. Just because you have money you can’t buy class. Now those women are they considered embarrasments to their race like NeNe is? Probably not. Are they considered ghetto? Probably not. Yet the display the same bullish, bafoonish behavior.

Bottom all of these women are crazy and need Jesus in their lives LOL

PS forgive the typos!

I’m with Clyde.
Most American men would rather have a woman who is soft spoken, very refined, feminine, rather than these loud mouth, finger pointing.uh huh bunnies on this show.
I notice that when I’m around Emory or the Dekalb Farmer’s Market how the younger generation of educated men are holding hands with foreign born women.
It’s not about race,it’s about someone’s culture they were raised in.
Everything about this show is degrading to women, blacks.
It is sending a terrible message to young women.
The positive comments on this blog strictly reflect the mindset of someone with the dysfunctional values they learned in their dysfunctional childhood.

NeNe keeps it real???? So being loud, obnoxious, and threatening is “keeping it real?” How anyone can champion NeNe is beyond me! Sure, some of it is for the cameras, but a lot is her actual personality! She continues to act like a fool with Andy Cohen. Iman looked like how did I get on this show tonight with this woman?? And for the record, Lisa Wu was over the top! Remember she was going to flip sofas! And she turned into a sneaky rabble-rouser. But NeNe needs to go! She was practically foaming at the mouth!

No wonder Nene was never asked backed on the ” The Insider” after she got into it with Lohan’s dad, even the corresspodent apologized for Nene behavior on the next day saying Nene started the drama, and i think her days are done at 11 alive, thats why JD did not anything to say to her, personally i dont like here, she is loud, ghetto and has no class…AT ALL…
no wonder her son is getting into all these legal problems she needs to stay home and try and be a better mother and better wife…

as for Cynthia… i hate peter..sorry, how does your hubby to be close shop and not tell you or have a discussion about it PRIOR….run for the hills girl… you can do better, it’s obvious there are communication problems and always will be….and where is your money after a modeling career….i mean come on…..

peace and love to all…

Nene needs counseling. Kim is crazy – she is NOT 30 years old and she cannot sing-and she does treat her assistant like her slave, and the idiot assistant takes it. Kandi can’t sing, but she doesnt know it, and that is sad. Phaedra is a joke of a woman and her husband seems like he has a learning disability.

January 17th, 2011

The comments on this blog are really atrocious. So you judge ALL black women based on NeNe’s behavior on a TV show. And I guess NeNe was arguing by herself! Kim was just as loud and out of control as NeNe. Was Kim’s behavior significant of all white women? I wouldn’t make such an ignorant judgment as that. I wouldn’t think all white women smoked and sang badly off key just based on Kim’s performance. This is a TV show and these people are paid to act way over the top. Would I do it and portray myself in such a light. NO! But they have chosen to do so and its FYE – For Your Entertainment. It amazes me how all these people claim to hate the show and what it represents, but apparently they are watching it religiously. You know the characters’ names and their activities so you obviously are watching the show. And to Bert who can’t wait to retire and get out of the city… Why wait??? If being around black women is so bad for you….LEAVE NOW! I assume all of the white women you work with are extremely, quiet professional and on point at all times??? What ever, dude!!

The "Real" Deal

January 17th, 2011
11:15 am

1) Kandi deserves exactly what she’s got. Has anyone else noticed that “Sweet little Kandi” has herself been doing a lil “hatin” on Kim (and in fact, Kandi doesn’t sound much better than Kim). But one thing you have to give Kim is that she has personality, a ‘free spirit” and is sincerely a “let live” person–which is why she’s accepted by fans though she can’t hold a tune. Kandi had an opportunity to help a musician once (I know this for a fact) who could have brought her a “real” comeback, but her “jealousy” of the individual wouldn’t allow her to take that step of faith. (SO KANDI’S GETTING JUST WHAT SHE DESERVED. SHE’S INVESTED ALL THAT TIME AND ENERGY INTO KIM AND HAS ABSOLUTELY NO RETURN ONT THE INVESTMENT. WHILE KIM’S MANIPULATION HAS GENERATED A FEW MILLIONS WITH HER ‘NO SINGING’ HIT. IN FACT THE MUSIC KANDI PUT TO KIM’S SONG IS BETTER THAN KANDI’S OWN MUSIC. “rotflmao”)

2) I know everyone saw through the “deceptive” control Peter tried to pull over poor Cynthia. Here she’s invested big money into this “a – -hole’s” business and he has the audacity to try and manipulate her into thinking she’s being unreasonable and over-emotional when she has every right to be angry. And if that wasn’t enough he waits until days before their wedding to put her into an embarrassing situation with no back-up plan. What a jerk!!

3)Did anyone else notice how uneasy Sheree’s kids were to express they’d miss her. And it’s clear Sheree has real issues with expressing love to her young daughter. It almost appears that she’s ashamed of the little girl, but appears more accepting of her son.

4)We all can see through the “white southern female” sense of superiority that is Kim (–the condescending manner in which she treats Sweetie). In fact, she knew what she was doing when she deliberately hired a black woman to be her lil “faux” slave) Who do you think you’re fooling Kim? We’re not dumb that we can’t see straight through that deception.

The “Real” Deal , I agree. Kandi only have herself to blame and it does seems as though they were ganging up on Kim, Im not a Kim fan, but they shouldn’t have ganged up on her. That sweetie disgusts me. She appears to be very uneducated, self-loathing chick with a slave-mentality.
