Michael Savage swaps with Dave Ramsey, moves to 640/WGST-AM
Michael Savage moves to WGST-AM starting Wednesday at 9 p.m.
Savage had spent several years late night on AM750 and now 95.5 FM News/Talk WSB but was replaced this week by Macon RedState.com blogger and CNN commentator Erick Erickson.
Rusty Humphries, the new afternoon host on WGST, made the announcement on air this afternoon.
Savage is one of the most popular talk show hosts nationwide with more than 400 stations.
WGST’s late-night signal, however, is limited and can hardly be heard outside the Perimeter. (You’ll have to use www.wgst.com.)
Ramsey had been on WGST from 3 to 6 p.m. but is now on WSB Radio from midnight to 3 a.m.

It doesn’t matter if it is Hanniy, Limbaugh, Boortz, or Weiner, the same crap, different personality. These shows are for the people that don’t know anything about history or the world, and listen to these clowns to say they have learned something. All of them promote products that they personally don’t use and in the case of Hannity they are scams, such as work at home schemes. As long as they make their millions per year, what do they care. They have their moronic listeners right where they want them!

Uh, yeah sure tore. If you are a dem, then you would say this. These guys have KEPT shows and audiences. Unlike the Air America network that crashed and burned.. Just like 1310 will do , its all a matter of time.. Lib radio does not work. It’s a proven fact..This is Atlanta, and its not a LIB town. SO please don’t pick on Radio that works. WGST, is really not even a factor in radio anymore, and I hate the fact Dave Ramsey is on WSB.. It’s just gonna be reruns of Dave stating the obvious, if you make stupid mistakes then you get stupid results. if you have heard one show of dave’s you have heard them all. Geez, I love Micheal.. He gives both sides hell, that’s what they both need. But he hates the libs, and I would agree.. It’s time to remove the sad and true failures.. Dem’s you are on the way out.. its time to take our country back to glory status, instead of saying were sorry for being the greatest country on the planet.

Hmmmm… to Carlos on here. I’m a die-hard Savage fan. He never says anything about Mexicans invading the country. He does say ILLEGALS entering the country. If that happens to be Mexicans in your hood, so be it. In my hood, it’s actually people from India that are here illegally. As for O’bama’s birth place. Nobody has yet to see the ORIGINAL birth certificate. I think ORIGINAL would be the key word here. Savage is no idiot. He speaks the truth… and most peeps… just don’t wanna hear it.

To “Mr WGST” let’s see… We just added not one, but TWO local shows. I had the Kimmer on as my first guest, and hope to have him on much more often. We got rid of two syndicated shows, are cleaning up the production values and clutter and all you can do is complain? You must live a very small and sad life! As for the nighttime signal issues… I just got here, give us some time. Savage is a friend and a great addition to WGST. I’m very much looking forward to the future of WGST. It looks very bright. As for syndicated talk, I’ll take a great syndicated show over a crummy local one any day. Successful talk radio is interesting talk radio. It’s about the content and the personality, not the location of the studio or the inclusion of the latest from the school board.

I can say that I will NEVER listen to WGST since they took Dave Ramsey off the air. Dave’s show is the only show that wants to help their listeners. I can see myself up at midnight to hear the show.All this talk crap? who care’s.

These guys make millions of dollars preaching how bad things are and this person and that person or the government is out to get you. To the many fans of these shows i ask you this, “If you were making millions of dollars a year, what are you angry about”? The problem is that there are so many $30,000 a year “millionaires” who these talk show how know are gullible. Read about the Weimar republic or the balkans, darn people these guys live in multi-million dollar estates but know that many of you are fail to read and see the big picture.

Really? Are we still stuck on “Obama is not a U.S. citizen”? So you haven’t seen his “original” birth certificate. So what! There are plenty of people whose “original” birth certificates have been destroyed (fire, water damage, lost in a move, etc). Are you saying that they aren’t citizens because of this? As long as the hospital in which they were born can verify their birth, so what if the birth certificate is a reprint! And even if President Obama fooled us all and isn’t really a US citizen (purely speculation and HIGHLY unlikely), no one’s going to prove it in time for him to be thrown out of office. Whether you or any other right wing crybaby likes it or not, Barack Obama will be the president of the United States for at least another two years. And even if he is not reelected in 2012, he will always and forever be the 44th President of the Untied States. Get over it!
Now, as for the original topic of this article, I’m personally glad Michael Savage is gone from 750. He is angry and bitter and should probably bring it down several notches before he bursts a blood vessel!

Trust me, I’ve tried to listen to Michael Weiner (Savage sounded better, no doubt). He’s too busy complaining that it’s no longer the 1950s, and the rest of the time, he’s patting himself on the back for previous pronouncements. Only so often I can hear him talk about his family taking trips to the Catskills, or how that modern Beatles music was the music of the dopers.

I have my doubts that the great, mighty, awe-inspiring, Lord and savior of WGST and “Atlanta Talk Radio” Rusty HUMPhries (whoever that is)is posting here on a Blog. He and his mindset are focused on the national show and will most likely be “mailing” in the GST show so nothing else has changed move on!! What’s sad is I am starting to miss the days of MJ/Schnitt on 105.3, and Bob & Tom and Dick & Justice on 96 Rock. GO CLEAR CHANNEL WOOOOOO!!!

Savage is a bit over the top with some things but I think it’s kind of pointless to swap him over to GST when he’ll barely be heard. Why waste the money on putting a syndicated show on the air that won’t be heard unless you’re with in that small patch inside the perimeter that can actually pick up 640 when they power down for the night. Damn Clear Channel, use the money for a stronger signal, not a show hardly anyone can hear.

I agree totally with Elle on her comments concerning President Obama and his birth certificate. It would be much better for the Republican supporters to concentrate on getting a formidable candidate for 2012 instead of harping on the POTUS ’s birth certificate.
As far as WGST, their station will be better served back on FM!

I just found out about the swap, Googling to see what had happened to Dr. Savage, so thanks for the scoop Mr. Ho!
What a relief that he’s still here, even though I can’t pick up 640 at night any more since I moved from Marietta to Norcross. Mr. Humphries (if that’s you), good luck getting more power for WGST, I’d like to know how you plan to accomplish that. Do you have some capacity at 640 besides talk show host? Some connections with the FCC?
I’m not a Dave Ramsey fan, but I have friends who are. He belongs on 750. Heck, maybe 750 can bring back Dr. Laura too, she’s a great complement to Ramsey, if you can stand that kind of thing. Then you could have two people preaching at you.
It’s funny how 750 keeps picking up the leftovers from 640. Remember Neal Boortz used to be on 640, and he was much better then IMO. He’s gotten very soft since moving to 750 with Belinda and the “genius” Royal (Neal says he is, I disagree). Neal rants once in a while but it’s always the same thing, he doesn’t have the fire in his belly any more. But when you talk as many hours a day as he does, you don’t have time to absorb and digest material any more. Same thing with Hannity, working his radio and TV shows. They’re on autopilot, coasting on attitudes they formed long ago, with nothing new in the mix.
So the only heavy hitter left on 750 is Sean Hannity, Boortz’s friend, and Hannity is pathetic. He offers no worthwhile analysis, more of a personality thing, always bashing Pelosi and Reid. Maybe they deserve it, but that’s his only shtick so what’s to listen to?
That’s why he has so many female callers, he’s crafted a political soap opera personality show. He speaks with conviction, I’ll give him that, and that’s important, but it doesn’t replace insight, experience and brains.
The perfect followup to Hannity would be the Kimmer (didn’t he use to be on after Hannity?), another guy who is all bluster and no brains. His fake marine act is so off putting. Real marines (yes I’m a vet) don’t go around talking about it all the time, but Kimmer is now a civilian and he just can’t let it go. Every time he went “hurrp” I wanted to hurp myself. All that “you’re a great American” stuff, puhleeze.
640 now has the three best talk shows in America: Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage and coast to Coast AM, which is awesome. (God, please bring back Art Bell. George Noory sucks.) If they could bring in Sam Memmolo from that other station where he’s being wasted with only ONE hour of Car Talk on the weekend, they would really be doing something. Sam used to be on 640 or 750, I don’t remember which. But it seems 640 and 750 can’t leave well enough alone most of the time. Good thing we have choices further up the dial. Did you guys know that Red Skelton is on in the morning? Now that is some good, non-stressful morning drive time.
The best things on 750 now are Clark Howard, Herman Caine, Walter Reeves and O’Neill Williams. You’re not going to compete with Limbaugh and Savage that way.
750’s attitude is more adult than 640 though. Have you heard the promos that 640 runs regarding their audience? Juvenile stuff about how they’re stalkers for one. And what is it with the “Hottest Galleries!”, NFL cheerleaders etc. stuff 640 has on its web site? Huh? Grow up for crying out loud. How can a station that runs so many prostate ads play to the under 25 crowd too, it doesn’t make sense, it’s schizophrenic.
Can you tell I’ve been listening to talk radio in this town for a long time? If 640 PD’s Dan Persigeh or Chris East need some more advice, contact me.
We could start by bringing some balance back to the newsreader department. I mean, what happened to men reading the news? I have nothing against women, but give a man a break!
BTW, I see from the wiki that Mike Rose, former producer and program director at 640, is now a Home Loan Consultant with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. How’s that working out for you Mike? It must be rough selling houses for $150,000 that are worth a third of that now. But Wells Fargo is stuck with all kinds of crap like that. They’re too big to fail dontchaknow. And what is a home loan consultant? Is that what they call you when they won’t hire you full time? Join the club then, lots of us are underemployed.

Don’t worry about the talentless Humphries. I listened to him for 1 hour and couldn’t take it. I called Chris east back and told him what I thought, including the stupidity of Ginger’s constant “Brother from a different mother” BS. I stopped on GST to find out about a traffic snarl due to the friggin 24 hour funeral on WSB. Humphries seems to have went overboard with his stupid sayings. He fits Clear Channel perfectly. He has the “Screw the listeners” attitude. Anyone else think Humphries & the Red State Ginger from WSB are one and the same? Sound alike, look alike, and have no audience at all. Keep losing money, Clear Channel. We former listeners laugh at your demise. When GST finally dies for good, they may get some talent on air. Savage should start at 3, even if you have to play the previous day’s prgram. Or, you could re-air Alex Jones in that time slot. Even constant poligrip commercials are better than Mr. Boring (Humphries). Jesus, God, can’t Atlanta find ANY talent? As long as the same old “Good old Boy” network crap is still rolling, they won’t. Also, Republican talking points sound regurgitated during the day, so why would anyone want to hear them over and over. Screw WGST, WSB, and most of all, Clear Channel.
