Chilli of TLC still seeking a man on ‘What Chilli Wants’ on VH1 starting Jan. 2

Rozonda "Chilli' Thomas is still seeking a man in season two of "What Chilli Wants." Could that man be boxer Floyd Mayweather?

Rozonda "Chilli' Thomas is still seeking a man in season two of "What Chilli Wants." Could that man be boxer Floyd Mayweather?

Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas spent a season fishing for a man on a VH1 show.

At the end of season one, the Atlanta-based TLC singer reeled in a guy named Bill who seemed to have all the elements most women appreciate – handsome, smart, confident, sweet, funny.

But when  I heard last spring that a second season was coming, it became obvious: Bill was not the one. (Perhaps if he had been, the next season would have been renamed “What Chilli Found.”)

Chilli’s reality show search for a man is obviously opportunistic from a career standpoint. Higher exposure from TV may help jump start her music career, as well as pay a few bills. (Reality shows have helped fellow R&B singers Monica, Fantasia and Kandi Burruss.)  Taped in the fall in Atlanta and in other cities such as Miami and New York, season two debuts Sunday,  January 2 at 9:30 p.m. This season will have eight episodes.

She generated buzz by having an extensive list of demands: washboard abs, smokin’ hot, no drinking, no smoking, religious, possessing a big package and no pork eating (though the pork is not a deal breaker.) Those eight episodes and a flurry of bad dates did not make her narrow her list. Instead, it got longer.

“Honesty is key,” Chilli said in an interview in early December at her favorite Ethiopian place  Cottage, off Piedmont Ave. “I don’t know why that wasn’t on the list in the first place. You have to be very specific.”

She admitted there were critics who felt she was being too picky. She remains unapologetic. “There’s nothing wrong with holding out for what you feel you deserve. I know who I am  as a woman.”

Another change: Chilli had more say in who relationships expert Tionna Smalls helped select as possible mates. “No more blind dates!” she said. By having more say in the process, Chilli was able to reduce the friction between the two that permeated season one, she said. “I stopped arguing with her,” Smalls said.

Chilli also makes her desire for another child very clear. At age 39, she realizes her biological clock  is ticking loudly.

Did she find her man? She won’t say, of course. “It’s a nice journey we’re on together,” she said cryptically. “Nearing to the end, I’m just being very real. I can’t help it. I’ve very outspoken.”

Overall, Chilli enjoyed doing the show. “Being in my group [TLC], we’re such strong advocates of being strong and independent,” said Chilli “But the show also shows that I can get hurt. I can be in relationships that don’t work out.”

Why did she drop Bill? “He’s a very nice guy but to me, it’s wrong to keep someone around just because they’re a good person. If someone is good  for me, I have to  be good for them. I don’t think we were right for each other.”

In the screener I sampled of the January 2 episode, Chilli is once again being wooed by her friend and boxer Floyd Mayweather, who buys her $14,000 earrings at a local Ross Simons, then takes her to dinner.  Smalls then brings a new man she hopes Chilli will like, a race-car driver from Brazil named Raphael Matos.

Mayweather, to Smalls,  “is a distraction,” Chilli admits. “We’ve dated for like five seconds. But he and I have had four years of friendship under our belt. It’s a flirty friendship, not a regular friendship between man and woman. But we’ve never slept together.”

Smalls calls Mayweather a “fun guy you can mess with but not someone I would try to wife up.”

Interestingly, Chilli was downright chaste in season one with nary a real kiss. “No sex, no kissing,” Smalls mused. “No nothing! Just a lot of talking. But I guess people appreciated the real.”

Chilli got more flak from the black community for selecting from two white guys in the final season one episode. “People – including myself – were annoyed,” Smalls admitted, though she appreciated Chilli’s open-mindedness in terms of dating different races.

“Chilli’s reality show search for a man is obviously opportunistic from a career standpoint.” You hit the nail on the head with that one. What Chili wants isn’t a man, it’s another big, ole fat paycheck from the production company for embarrasing herself on TV like this. Here’s a hit, Chili, you don’t find what you are looking for on a damn TV show.

Chilli’s still single because she talks out of both sides of her mouth. She claims she wants a man whose religious and that she’s religious and she also talks about wanting someone whose good in bed and has a big package. If religion is so important, she shouldn’t even be sleeping with someone before she’s married.

That’s why she already has an out-of-wedlock kid and at least one abortion behind her. To attract a godly man, she herself has to be a godly woman, something she clearly is not.

I think Chilli need to hook-up with Floyd and they both look cute in the above picture. They would make a very cute couple.

She’s confused and her double talk is probably crippling a lot of young women who are following in her footsteps creating unrealistic expectations when they are far from perfect themselves! She’ll NEVER be married and if she does, she’ll never be happy!

What a tivial individual, look she wants someone with money, cause she can’t handle it, thats why half of these quote “used to be entertainers” end up broke! Shes had at least one bankruptcy and she should take those $14,000 earings , sell them and give half to a church or charity…

Chilli is just what you said she is – opportunistic. Each mini-celeb who have managed to woo cable tv producers into having their own “love” search reality show has always managed to have at least 2 seasons to find someone. In the end, they walk away with just the paycheck and the free publicity.

Chilli is fooling herself – not US. She will NOT date a white man, let’s get real… that’s just a ploy to get people to think of her as being open-minded. It’s bull. Then all of this pseudo-righteousness with no sex, no kissing, etc. Please. You had to have had it to have these pregnancies with no husband, so STOP IT. True, you can change and I applaud that, but don’t “act” like it’s so beneath you.

“What Chilli Needs” is to get her head examined.

pretty woman and i really did enjoy her with her group, but who gives a rat’s ass. if floyd bought her 14k worth of jewelry, then he really exemplifies the “dumb ass athlete” portrayed these days. she was no more than a back up singer with a pretty face that added glitz to tlc, if she had any musical talent it would have manifested itself by now. good luck to her, but sometimes you just have to get a job. atlanta has an abundance of pretty women who don’t come with the baggage, she has to know that whomever comes on the show is just trying to exploit her.

Chilli is North of attractive, no doubt. I’m just not sure that God has created a man who can make her happy, and that’s sad. Mayweather is a jerk..a charming con-artist..and has serious female abuse issues. Pretty sure their only connecton was his swag and his bank account. I might watch a few episodes for entertaiment. At 39 her youthful appeal and immaturity are getting old…but hey she looks great for her age! She should be thinking about a real “adult” life, with a real brother who will be her for the long haul. Did I mention she was really, really pretty? My, my, my!!!!

This lady (doubtful) is delusional and, Kapoonka, could not have said it better……and I am tired of her of her immaturity. What is up with that giggling all the time? What woman of almost 40 acts like that? Certainly, no one that I know of and by the way it is not youthfulness but silliness.

There is no good, confident and intelligent man about to subject himself to this foolishness let alone have a child with this fool (which she says “I want to have a kid” by the way? as she looks slyly or slow you determine)

You don’t find happy on a television show any more than you can find one million dollars uner your bed in the morning.

It is nothing but a dream

Chilli needs to chill on the superdiva act if she ever has a sincere wish of finding, and staying with, any man.

She is not perfect. Her flaws are so glaring that an intelligent man would sprint in the opposite direction faster than Usain Bolt.

Fast don’t lie.

The only thing Chilli has going for her is her looks and fame. I find it awfully funny that 90% of the things that she lists as her basic requirements that she can’t even meet them herself. I agree with the other posters that she is only in this for the money. Any “Real” man would run from this foolishness of a show and her silliness. For her to be almost 40 years old, she is awfully silly. Her nickname should be “Silly Chilli.” Steve Harvey calls her out on his show:

What does the fact that Chilli had sex at some point in her life (and bore a child and had an admitted abortion when she was like 18 years old) have to do with NOW? Gosh, apparently the no sex before marriage or during dating rule is something she does NOW.

And she IS attractive, moreso than the average woman.
And she wasn’t a “back-up” singer– TLC was a GROUP that she was 1/3 of. (Not to mention the bestselling female group of all time.)

Geesh.

So much hatred. Why even click AND comment on here if 1) you hate reality shows and 2) you think she’s a golddigging reality show wanna-be?

Apparently SOMEONE’s watching the show; it’s back!

Me, I’ll continue watching because I get it, the whole searching thing. I’m rooting for her, too. And the whole white guy aspect, yep, it does add some flavor to it. Otherwise it would be just another thugged out, baggy jeans tragedy that sets us back another 1,000 years.

Keep keepin’ on Chilli!

What’s wrong with her selecting white men ? Flak from the black community ? Why do sistas and bruthas in Atl hate on that ?
In Cali,Seattle,Denver, people just live man…..they just do their own thing, their own style.
They laugh about ya’ll ignorant kunta kinte folks down south.
Atl is still fighting the civil war,the mentality is stagnated in the past.
Leave the girl alone, she can raise the bar as high as she wants.
She has a global mentality, not an Atlanta mentality.

Nobody wants Chilli. The woman is obviously EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE. Evidence of that is going from wanting a WHITE MAN to suddenly being interested in FLOYD MAYWEATHER (who is VOLATILE and an IMMATURE, BIG BABY).

Also, she LOOKS UNHEALTHY — like she may be hooked on PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.

I DARE somebody to say something about it. Get at me if you want to:

Chili is single because she is speaking of what she wants rather than what she can offer. Looks go for everyone. Base a relationship on looks and other material things and a entertainment divorce is in the future. Why get married if it’s to marry things rather than a person?

This is just TV.. What does it profit a woman/man to gain the world and lose their soul?

Chilli should know by now that publicly announcing you want someone will draw in some of everybody seeking for the limelight. This have to be a career image move rather than actually finding a soul mate. I would think should would have enough game not to seek for potential mate in this fashion. It seems like everybody is doing these so called Reality Shows, I meant Salary Shows for business only.

Chili and others can get some good, helpful relationship advice in Living Well Despite Catching Hell: The Black Woman’s Guide to Health, Sex and Happiness. In 2011, get good health, stop making bad relationship choices, watch out for the DL fellas (esp. here in Atlanta); if you’re single, get out and mingle, interracial dating info, and STD warnings and erotic poems for a treat. Also getting out of abusive relationships–cut them off (the relationship, not body parts). LOL.

VH-1 used to be good when it used to only show music videos. Oh and you might want to reword this:

“Chilli got more flak from the black community for selecting from two white guys in the final season one episode.”

Just exactly who is “the black community”? There’s no such thing, since all black people are not monolithic. I have no problem with interracial dating. I’ve observed in Atlanta that the aversion to it goes both ways with both black and white people (and other races and ethnicities) opposing it.

What I do have a problem with are all of these stupid, mind-numbing reality TV shows.

I come on here each morning for the vent and could not help but click on about “Chili of TLC”. I know nothing of her music (I am white and in my 40’s), but wasn’t she the one with Usher years ago? I do believe part of this is that some of these women are so wanting guys from the past back that they’ll do anything hoping they’ll see it and revert back to their old feelings. Never seen this show, but with all this, I may just have to watch tomorrow! I watched a part of a Ray-Jay episode years ago and could not believe what this world has come to, nasty women vying for the spotlight at all costs. Same thing with the Bachelor/Bachelorette (which I admit I have never missed). This woman is just not attractive. I said that when she was with Usher, and I’ll say that now from these pictures. I’ll say the same thing about Jennifer, I’m sorry to all her buddies, “Jenn” Anniston. She doesn’t do an interview, take a picture, appear with someone in public unless she’s thought that Brad was seeing it. “Jenn” has been with so many men and if she’s so perfect, America’s sweetheart, which makes me cringe because she admits to be a chain-smoker, then why isn’t she in a fully committed relationship by now? Could it just be that these men are just not into her, which seems to be the case with Chili. Why is it that you think these women are done with these men, it looks to me that these men can’t stand being with them.

First of all, anyone with any intelligence can find bettert hings to do with their time that watchign this foolishness! Second of all, Chiili’s long list of requirements is exactly why black men don’t want to hear this “black male shortage” crap from black women who have the same “standards.” Man y of the things listed have nothing to do with character or personality and it’s contaradictory to requitre that he be a Christian and a “opackage” at the same time. A real Christian would get married before even experiencing the “package.” Chilli can ask for whatever she wants but I better not hear any “Can’t find a good man.” crap coming from her!

Withholding sex in 2011 will not convince a man to marry because too many other women have sex without commitment. If it works for her, good because some men will waste women’s time maintaining a casual relationship or having children without any intentions to marry. I am not a dating expert or relationship coach but so many people treat marriage like a convience instead of a commitment. Some have an attitude of “if the union does not work out I will just get a divorce.” People have to make sure they are not just “ready” for marriage but also any trials that come with it especially if 1 or both have children under 18 that he or she raises. Reality shows are scripted scenarios created by producers, while some have gotten married after meeting on a show, it is not the most likely place to find a spouse. Once the cameras are off and the networks have made millions, you have to deal with relationships in reality not reality television. Going from one relationship to the next without spending a significant amount of time single is not the best, when does 1 have time to improve his or herself so he or she can be marriage material? Very interesting and insightful comments. I agree that VH1 or Video Hits 1 needs to return to showing only music programs and not The Bachelor or Bachelorette rip offs featuring has been singers, rappers, and rockers.

What I think Chilli needs to do is hook up with my brother. He is 30 years old, no kids, and he is very handsome with a list of his own. LOL I wish him and Chilli both the best on finding true love, but the both of them are going to have to give a little and take a little to be able to find that special someone they are looking for. No one is perfect, so they need to stay open minded while they are on their search. Good Luck!!!

After watching the show yesterday, it should be obvious that Floyd is just playing her. PLease tell me she is not that gullible! Even she said “he can’t be serious”….he bobs and weaves questions like he is in the ring. If she ever lets him in her drawers (hard to believe he has been that patient with her)..all of the niceness goes away. Mayweather is a scripted, rehearsed con-artist, cause he can buy any chick he wants..especially in Vegas..they’re called hookers!!! She ain’t all that darn special cause PBF can hit the Vegas strip and catch something ten times badder than her 39YO wanna have a baby butt for a lot less than 14K!!!. Floyd ain’t the one..she is blinded by his $$$$. She will pay him back 10X for the 14K he splurged on her with grief and regret. After watching the show…now I just think she’s stupid, and the pretty just wore off.
