TV year in review in Twitter form

In honor of  the most efficient mode of communication out there, Twitter, here are highlights from the year using 140 characters or fewer:

- A zombie apocalypse was good news for Atlanta and AMC: “The Walking Dead” drew huge numbers of live viewers. guaranteeing a second season.

- Fox’s “Glee” kept people believin’ in a cappella singing with Britney Spears, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Rocky Horror. Downloads through the roof!

- The Palins became reality TV stars. Sarah shot caribou for TLC while Bristol beat a bevy of better dancers on “Dancing With the Stars.”

- “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is as popular as ever: NeNe’s marriage crumbles, Kim bags a Falcon, newcomer Phaedra says wacky things.

- NBC tries to move Conan to 12:05 after Jay Leno’s 10 p.m. experiment bombs. No go. Conan bolts, embraces martydom. Atlanta’s TBS nabs him.

- Rick Sanchez of CNN, a man who loves Twitter, went on old-school radio to critique his bosses – and lost his job.

- CNN struggles as ratings fall. Larry King is out. In 2011, Piers Morgan is in. The new “Parker/Spitzer” show? No impact yet.

- “American Idol” stumbles as Simon Cowell departs. Overhaul anticipated with new judges (Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler), younger singers

The last moments of "Lost" featuring Jack Shepherd's eye closing.

- The clock ran out on both “Lost” and “24.”  The only upside: an emptier DVR.

- From a funny Snickers commercial to snickers on her hit TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland,” Betty White and her muffins remain as fresh as ever.

- Sporting hubris: Tiger Woods‘ “apology” press conference and LeBron’s “The Decision” on ESPN. Thank goodness there were no repeats.

- “Modern Family” becomes the best comedy on TV with a pitch-perfect ensemble cast, countless laughs and a warm heart.

- Who needs politicans to create fervor? Glenn Beck restored honor at a D.C. rally. In response, Jon Stewart restored sanity at a D.C. rally.

Snooki turned her on-air reality show persona into mucho moolah.

Snooki turned her on-air reality show persona into mucho moolah.

-  America makes “Jersey Shore’s” Snooki and the Situation rich enough to buy the Jersey shore. David Hasselhoff’s show? Canned after two eps.

- Good news, bad news for TNT: “The Closer” is over next year but hit show ”Rizzoli & Isles” becomes a new generation “Cagney & Lacey.”

- Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg walk off “The View” after Bill O’Reilly’s comments about Islam. To him, notoriety and ratings go hand in hand.

- John Pruitt steps down at Channel 2 Action News after more than 40 years in Atlanta broadcasting. Monica Pearson’s pending retirement: 2012.

- 11Alive News embraces Jeff Hullinger, Commuter Dude, Wizometer, Ways to Save, NeNe Leakes, news you can use. The result: stronger ratings.

- Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift unavoidable on every awards show and special. Hilary Duff, Ja Rule and Ashanti? Not so much.

The changes at 11 Alive have made an effect on my news watching. I am watching them more and more. Just need one more change to move Chesley to 6 and 11 and boot Paul Ossman.

Hot In Cleveland, Mike and Molly, and Hawaii Five-O are the only new shows worth watching. Everything else is crap.

Want to make your life better for 2011 with your TV? Simple, throw it out the window and read a book!! TV is the biggest waste of time ever, I do not even own one.

I believe I see a typo in your ‘tweet’ about the Housewives. You’ve missed an ‘n.’

I hate when fake fred steals my screen name.

I have a TV and watch it. I also own books and read them. The two are not mutually exclusive. I particularly like to watch shows or movies based on books I have read. It’s fun to see how Hollywood changes that which they were to dull and unimaginative to create………….

Left wing CNN and MSNBC continue to sink in the ratings and they still can’t figure out why Americans don’t want to watch.

It’s really annoying that everyone blames Jay for Conan’s failure. Jay did not rate well at 10 PM, but Conan was not doing well at 11:30. That’s why they put Jay back at that slot. This all started when Conan decided that he wanted Jay’s slot, and NBC was stupid enough to give it to him.

Hmholmes, Conan’s Tonight Show’s ratings were better than the Jay Leno’s Tonight Show Version 2.0 are now. The whole late night mess showed Leno for what he is a greedy, cutthroat, who will steal jokes and step on whoever it takes to get to the top. It happened with Letterman years ago and it happened again with Conan this year. Leno is a scumbag.

The 11 Alive Wizometer…This is comic genius to me. First it sounds like the contraption that an NFL player got caught with trying beat a drug test with (Whizzanator). Second…Everytime it goes to 11 I can’t help but to think of “Ours goes to 11″ (Spinal Tap reference)… Other than that this year we get to see a true musical sellout of Steven Tyler which used to be one of the best frontmen in rock. Maybe he’ll knock up Brisol Palin and they will have a reality show…

What is surprising about this list is that I have not seen any of these incidents at all. I guess TV isn’t all that much anymore.

Oh c’mon, Rodney. Why are you falling prey to the stupid masses? “Glee” has lost it’s first season mojo.

I am so disappointed.

I hope Detroit 187 gets another season. It slowly grew on me. I’m making a resolution to stop with all “reality” programs in the upcoming year. Too many great writers are twiddling their thumbs because of it.
