Love blossoms between rival local journalists

Joe Avary Katilyn PrattCBS Atlanta’s Joe Avary sent me this Friday:

Fox 5 reporter Kaitlyn Pratt became engaged to CBS Atlanta photojournalist Joe Avary over the Thanksgiving holiday. They met on the job last December in the Old 4th Ward, surrounded by flashing blue lights and yellow crime scene tape. Soon after that, the couple had their first date at Ria’s Bluebird in Grant Park and fell in love on subsequent dates.

“It’s the toughest question I’ve ever asked,” quipped Avary on popping the question. “I wanted to propose on a romantic moonlight walk in Candler Park, but in light of Monday night’s fatal shooting in Virginia Highland, Kaitlyn wasn’t going anywhere with me after dark.”

LMAO! Maybe they’ll honeymoon in Afganistan, you think? How romantic – falling asleep in the arms of the 101st Airborne Division, under the stars, or flares, having a romantic dinner consisting of MREs, and listening to a true love balled titled – “INCOMING!” ;o)

@SpaceyG – ‘Debbie Downer’ is more like it! Sorry you had a boring experience, but not all married people are bored with it.

It is the the most common story in local news, more common than shootings and house fires, female reporters marrying photographers. Why is that?

Marriage sometimes isn’t all what it’s cracked up to be. But you have to make sure you don’t marry a boring person.

Photographers are great guys! I’m not surprised to hear of anyone falling in love with one! They’re tough and resourceful, but creative and thoughtful at the same time. Plus they’re used to sharing long hours under constant stress- from what I bear, that’s great preparation for marriage! Congratulations and all the best to them both!!!

Where does it say that marriage is going to be a utopia on earth? My 49 years have brought tears of sorrow and joy (mostly joy) and the only true sorrow I have is that I could hve married my high school sweetheart three years earlier and would hve been happily-married for 52 insteade of 49 years!
If iut seems boring to you is will always be that way

Congratulations. Finally some positive news in GA, and people are on here whining about marriage. Marriage is one of the best things created, I married my best friend 15 years ago after 7 months of dating. What a wonderful choice. I hope that the new couple have more joy than sorrow.

Wait a minute.....

Don’t pay any attention to these negative comments . I think you are an awesome reporter with what it takes to get out there and get the story !
I am not familiar with your fiancee but if he is out there with you on assignments then you both have something in common to build on .
God bless you both and may you have a happy union .

It is news because we get so incredable tired of murders, armed roberies, car jackings, violence, inocent dead people every day, every day, every day………
I found this story comforting to hear love still exist and it was warm and cozy.
Human interest, happy ever after we need more stories like this. God Bless the
happy couple. God bless us one and all.

You will be working in different markets and divorced in 5 years. Just move in together for awhile. Marriage is over-rated.

you think this is something, tha AJC will print a dog being abused before printing a human being being killed.

Anyone posting something negative in a blog announcing an engagement is a pathetic loser unhappy with their own life and want to try and bring others down.

Kelly – if you want “news”, the AJC has lots of that too.

BTW – they’re not “nobody’s” – they’re people. Secondly, it’s not “nobody’s” – it’s “nobodies.” Your rude and stupid.

Get over yourself.

Dear M915,

Trailer trash…wow. You see an announcement for an engagement and somehow feel it is appropriate to cast slander upon the bride-to-be…SHAME ON YOU! It seems very apparent that you have are so unhappy within your own life that you try to cast that negativity onto others’ lives. You have posted three times on this blog and have shown nothing but disrespect to this couple, the statute of marriage, and the idea of love. I am sorry for you and your black heart and hope you truly find happiness someday.

P.S. Kaitlyn looks beautiful!

M915: I don’t come down to where YOU work and slap the multiple throbbing “cox”out of your mouth, You know where I’m talking about, that stall in the men’s room at Blake’s on 10th & Piedmont, with the litle glory hole? You know the one. Don’t disrupt her business. The girl is a success in a cutthroat field, and if she wants to wear her bling on her ring finger, don’t even think of bringing her down – because it it YOUR funeral she may be covering next. Word to the wise, you jag,,,

This is all so ugly. The chemistry between these two is apparent from the photograph, although their career choice seems somewhat sadistic. In the words of the late Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. – the haters should take a “flying f*%& at the moon.” Good day, sir.

I know Kaitlyn personally, and she was born & bred in the northeast. That’s the one geographic region of our great nation that values education over idiocy, open-mindedness over blind bigotry, and quality over quantity. i’m sorry for you southerners that can’t handle the fact that a strong yankee woman could come south and win the minds and hearts of your redneck brethren as she reports what constitutes news in your pathetic, twisted, backwater community. When you tire of counting the kernels of corn in your post-thanksgiving “offerings” to the gods of porcelain, drop dead. Your nine year old mother never cared, and wishes she had the foresight to lace your breast milk with arsenic.

As a friend of Joe’s, I have yet to meet Kaitlyn, but she strikes me as a lovely, happy, successful woman who from what I hear has been making Joe a very happy man this year. I don’t see the “trailer trash” resemblance, and whomever wrote that might want to take a long look in the mirror and keep their negativity to themselves. It’s rare to hear stories about positive things in the news wherever you live, so let’s just wish these two all the happiness the world can offer them and move on with our lives.

“OK? Why is this news? two nobody’s getting married seriously? is this best the AJC can do for news?”

Kelly, look up at the top of the page. Yeah, up there where it says “Radio and TV Talk.” Kaitlyn is a reporter on…TV. Do you understand yet? No?

Okay, how about this: Right below the box where you typed your comment is a little “AJC” logo. Click it. You will find that this is not, in fact, the only story the AJC published today.

That’s okay. You, like most other 13-year-olds, will eventually grow out of the mistaken idea that being hypercritical of everything makes you look worldly and smart. You will probably also eventually learn punctuation, capitalization and correct usage of apostrophes.
