V-103’s Elle Duncan clashes with Nina Brown

Elle Duncan

Elle Duncan

V-103 morning sports/entertainment host Elle Duncan clashed with afternoon producer Nina Brown verbally last week. If this had happened behind closed doors, this would not be news. The problem: a snippet ended up going on air.

I received the audio. In it, we only hear Duncan: “Stop with that s*** too Nina, like you’re so [bleepin']  holier than thou!” A few seconds later, Ryan Cameron went on air as if nothing had happened.

I have no clue what the argument was about and what led to this comment. I also have no idea how even a few seconds of it ended up going over a live mike.

UPDATE at 4 p.m. A source who actually heard this argument last week told me that she heard Brown may have flipped the mike on herself on purpose and thus got in trouble herself. She even had a chance to “dump” the audio after the fact because the show is delayed 45 seconds. She did not.

UPDATE at 9:59 p.m.:I have now heard that Brown is no longer at the station. And that the argument had something to do with some left-over pot-luck sweet potato pie. Seriously!

Duncan was off the air for about a week in what appears to be a suspension and returned this morning to the Frank and Wanda morning show, where she has been reporting sports and entertainment the past few months. Previously, she has been a mid-day host (her spot has yet to be filled) and before that, Cameron’s sidekick in the afternoons.

Duncan’s boss and V-103 general manager Rick Caffey declined to comment, per company policy.

Brown declined to comment. Duncan did not respond to text messages.

Since November 17, Brown has been posting scripture on her Twitter page.  For example:

“But where sin increased, grace increased all the more…” -Romans 5:20

Bc I only have control over my own thoughts & actions, I will not focus on what others lack, but instead focus on who I am… God’s child!

I walk thru the valley of the shadow of death absolutely fearless w/ a smile on my face & joy in my heart! Haters hate it, but God LOVES it!

God has the ability to not only order your steps, but ur stops as well…

Live mikes can be dangerous.

Back in 2004, the Regular Guys (then on 96rock) got in trouble when the morning team accidentally aired some dirty talk over a Honda commercial. Given it happened after the Janet Jackson Super Bowl brouhaha, the team ended up losing their jobs. The irony: Larry Wachs was trying to mock the FCC by airing backwards porn. The problem: while he was taping a porn star talking dirty, it went over the air. (The Regular Guys are now back on the air, safe and sound, on Rock 100.5)

Elle has been in every time slot on V103, She would be great on 95.5 The Beat.

OMG!!!!!! Can someone please get rid of that loud mouthed valley girl Elle from the frank and wanda show. it is clear that they are trying to move them out of the way and put elle front and center, but you really need a good dose of aspirin to deal with the headacge you get from listening to this loud overbearing chick- elle duncan. for me i want informative and positive talk to start my day like mike roberts and carol blackmon did back in the day- not loud buppie hip hop news junk gossip from a young hot mess of a girl, and they way she dogs men like all young women her age act like her is disgusting. i never cared for wanda, but i do think that elle shows her and frank no respect as her elders. they really need to get rid of her, because the few days that she was gone from the show was refreshing, peaceful, and i suddenly could go into work without a migraine.

Interesting, but not surprising. I’ve heard about Nina Brown from a number of individuals and it has generally not been good. Also Elle does need to humble herself because they all could be gone from mornings on V-103 in the near future. It just seems some have let their egos and jobs go to their head, but must realize that their jobs are the reason why they are known not the other way around.

Also, I wish some of you posting would lay off “Miss Sophia”. Just because you don’t understand LGBTs (particularly trannies) doesn’t give you any right to post your ignorant opinion on the internet. Hell, he has been off air since June and you guys are still taking about him. Atlanta has the largest LGBT population of any metropolitan area in the South (including Miami), so either deal with it or leave because obviously they aren’t going anywhere.

Elle is an awful personality, but fits in as she is uneducated arrogant and ignorant-just what V-103 promotes. V-103 needs her because she fits in with the dumb listeners and ghetto attitude they project.

JOHN TISDALE NJ -

DO YOU REALLY ANY OF US HERE ON A R-A-D-I-O BLOG CARE ABOUT WHAT A [SELF-DESCRIBED] “STRONG, SUCCESSFU, EDUATED L BLACK MAN” YOU IS?

ALSO, IF YOU ARE SO “EDUCATED,” WHY ARE YOU NOT SMART ENOUGH TO TOGGLE THE *CAPS LOCK* KEY?

Good Grief!

You guys sicken me. Do you even know these two women personally? I bet not, what you see on the surface isn’t what you see when you get to know them.

Go, Elle, No, Really, GO!

Elle does not need to be on the radio anywhere. Bring back Ms. Sophia; Ms. Sophia was very entertaining. I tried listening to Elle, but she’s boring and definitely can’t replace Ms. Sophia. I now turn the dial when that segment comes on. Where is Ms. Sophia any way? Frank, bring Ms. Sophia back!

Another thing about the “image projected” by V-103 according to so many of you posters. Have you ever listened to Hot 107.9 for an extended period of time? If you have then you know that V-103 isn’t as “ignorant”, “ghetto” as you allege. 90% of what I’ve heard on 107.9 from dawn to dust is nothing but “club music” and who the hell listens to that all the time? I’ve heard better talent on urban radio in other cities, but at least musically speaking from 6AM to 6PM and after 10PM on weekdays, V-103 is listenable.

If I owned V, this would be the line up:

Ryan Cameron, Elle, and Rashan in the morning, Ramona DeBreaux in the afternoon, and Joyce Littel from 6 to 10. and Greg “Sufferin’ Succotash Slobber in the Mouth” Street from 10 to 2 with Muzak from 2 til Ryan an dem.

This way we could get all the nonsense out of the way in the morning, and have intelligent (with the exception of G. Street) jocks with great music the rest of the day. I know ya’ll..I would be a great GM of this sorry station.

I listen to 104.1…best station in the A for non-hip-hop-gimme some booty music.

Elle does have bags under her eyes and she sometimes looks like she is either alcoholic…high on weed or something..hmmmmm? I bet RC was banging that and she prolly wouldn’t shut up.

I am glad that Nina is gone. It’s about time. Her voice was annoying to hear on radio, she had no radio talent, and she was just taking up space. Elle is the same way. If you were to put either of them behind the board and spin songs, they would not know how to truly do radio. I would challenge either one of them to do a show by themselves and hot jock.

I hope that Elle is next on the chopping block. Rick Caffey has no idea on how to program a station.
