V-103’s Elle Duncan clashes with Nina Brown

V-103 morning sports/entertainment host Elle Duncan clashed with afternoon producer Nina Brown verbally last week. If this had happened behind closed doors, this would not be news. The problem: a snippet ended up going on air.
I received the audio. In it, we only hear Duncan: “Stop with that s*** too Nina, like you’re so [bleepin'] holier than thou!” A few seconds later, Ryan Cameron went on air as if nothing had happened.
I have no clue what the argument was about and what led to this comment. I also have no idea how even a few seconds of it ended up going over a live mike.
UPDATE at 4 p.m. A source who actually heard this argument last week told me that she heard Brown may have flipped the mike on herself on purpose and thus got in trouble herself. She even had a chance to “dump” the audio after the fact because the show is delayed 45 seconds. She did not.

UPDATE at 9:59 p.m.:I have now heard that Brown is no longer at the station. And that the argument had something to do with some left-over pot-luck sweet potato pie. Seriously!
Duncan was off the air for about a week in what appears to be a suspension and returned this morning to the Frank and Wanda morning show, where she has been reporting sports and entertainment the past few months. Previously, she has been a mid-day host (her spot has yet to be filled) and before that, Cameron’s sidekick in the afternoons.
Duncan’s boss and V-103 general manager Rick Caffey declined to comment, per company policy.
Brown declined to comment. Duncan did not respond to text messages.
Since November 17, Brown has been posting scripture on her Twitter page. For example:

Back in 2004, the Regular Guys (then on 96rock) got in trouble when the morning team accidentally aired some dirty talk over a Honda commercial. Given it happened after the Janet Jackson Super Bowl brouhaha, the team ended up losing their jobs. The irony: Larry Wachs was trying to mock the FCC by airing backwards porn. The problem: while he was taping a porn star talking dirty, it went over the air. (The Regular Guys are now back on the air, safe and sound, on Rock 100.5)

Nina Brown has always been a wanna be jock. Her attitude was horrible, and why did she always feel as if she had the right to say anything on air? Shut up and push the buttons. Where on raido is a producer a “personality”? Wanda is just plain ignorant and illiterate. Elle’s voice is obnoxious at best, but she is fine as hell, and Frank is an over-the-hill jock who has stayed on too long. He is just irrelevant trying to be a 50yo+ teenager is pathetic. Yeah Ryan can be silly, but at least he is entertaining. V is a mess right now. They were right to get rid of Sophia and Nina…hopefully Frank “I know everything and everybody” Ski will be next.

Elle got her start on a sports station 790 the Zone… She worked with the 2 Live Stews..
She also worked for the Hawks and now Falcons..
Nina from what I heard while listening (because I hardly listened to V-103) was/is hood and ignorant. Always talking about how she love “thugs” and thats the kind of individual she was attracted too.. (So her credibility and intelligence was questionable to me from that point forward)
Ms. Sophia is an embarrassment and disgrace I can’t believe that even let that IT continuously on the radio.. IT was horrible and unlistenable and spoke toward the sad state of affairs in the Black Community..

I hope Frank Ski does not Nina getting fired on Ella (although I do not think she has the maturity for the morning show. Also, as long as the ratings stay up, Frank and Wanda are not going anywhere.
The exception might be if the demographics change from an older lmore affluent crowd to the younger less affluent. Ella might bring in the younger listeners while turning off the older listeners.

I used to look foward to waking and commuting with the morning show daily. But now i feel as if its real time for a make over..For one Frank Ski, Wanda not more so, and Elle are to personable, there should be boundaries. Secondly there topic are all from the AJC, how boring is that, be creative. And lastly, really i applaud Elle’s effort, however i think its something really missing upstairs, her language is horrible, and she really dont dont fit in the morning show schemes…Elle NO!

I don’t know why people are so quick to judge and don’t know the facts. The snippett would have not been aired if the producer(nina brown) would have done he job. There was time for her to edit it out with the 45 second delay. So instead of coming down on Elle, you all should be looking at Nina. I have met Elle and she is the SWEETEST and KINDEST person I know. Anyone who takes they time to greet you everytime they see you is a humble down to earth person. Some of these personalities won’t even speak unless you scream at them.
Elle has a right to voice her opinion and unfortunately it got aired, but not by her, but by someone that is selfish and insecure. KEEP DOING YOUR THING ELLE!!!!

The truth: Nina flipped the switch to go live. Producers are on the board, not the radio personalities. Nina challenged Elle that she will put their fight on live and Nina and Nina the professional producer she is, hit the “live” button.
The argument was happening off-air (fights in worksplaces happens all the time – V103 is a workplace, 2 employees fighting).

Starstruck – FrankTanya meet a celebrity for the first time and that celeb becomes his “good friend.” If u get to know these people as who they are- PRETENTIOUS and meanspirited and Frank uses his job against people. I realized how awful these people truly are.
Nina like Tara (Frank’s longtime producer) starts out as nice, pleasant then I guess the job gets to them and makes their head big.

If the Producer got axed, then it was HER fault the comments were aired.
I assume that the dummies out there will blame the on-air person and not the one in charge of dumping inappropriate comments! Would the responsibility be on Elle Duncan if she were black?

I hate it when people try to put “The Lord” in their foolishness. Nina Brown acted a total @$$. And then when she rightfully suffers the consequences of her actions, she quotes scripture in a self-aggrandizing manner. Further, she actually thinks that The Most High honors that.

Firing Nina Brown was the correct & only thing to do. She intentionally allowed filth to air. (oh so Christian like Nina–>NOT)She must have let the job go to her head. It was a very immature & evil thing to do. Not only did it backfire, but she hurt the whole station with that cattyness. I traveled with morning show and Frank was not nice. He’s an uppity person towards v-103 travelers. We all talked about him on the trip & couldn’t believe how he is in person. So not personable in person. He should not be allowed to travel/mingle with the listeners. You are only good enough for Frank if you are a celebrity, rich, or in politics. Frank you are no better than us and will be one of us if the station lets your over-the-hill arse go. Frank is nothing like his inspirational vitamins –>Fake. Wanda was very personable, kind, fun, & genuine, just like she is on radio. The travelers loved her. I don’t know Elle, but she appears to be very energetic, however she needs to stop talking over others. I think the morning show needs an overhaul. Not necessarily firing anyone(including Frank), but making those there do a better job on & off radio, regardless of the ratings. I love Ryan Cameron & Greg Street though, they are great on air, and very nice in person.

I think everyone is missing the point. What Nina Brown did could hurt the station. If she had a beef with Elle handle it like a lady. That was a very hateful thing to do. What was her intention? Did she want to get Elle fired? Thats not very Godly. I’m reading everyone comments and its sad because we have the crab in the barrell mentality. If Elle was dark skin and ugly everyone would love her.But she light skin and attractive so people hate her. She is going places because she has the look and be happy because she is a Black woman. I will support her because I will always stand up for my sisters. Nina has really hurt herself who will hire her? She cannot be trusted. If I was a DJ I would not want to work with her what if we have a argument would she do the same thing? I wish her much success but I always wonder how did someone with no experience get that position? I dont like the music but I will support the station because it employs a lot of my people. In my opinion – Although Elle may be corny sometimes and has some missplaced humor, she is the spark that the morning show needs. There are a lot of things going on that I know of personally that will have the morning show back at 2 ppl hosting very soon. Just depends on how things pan out. As far as Nina – You have to be consistent in what you are preaching. Relationships and God are pretty much the spectrum for people here in Atlanta. If you are not consistent in both, it may be best that you stay off the mic and behind the scenes like a “producer” should be.
From what I understand and in my opinion, what was done was tacky and unprofessional. If you cut the mic on on mistake, that is one thing because you have 45 seconds to correct it. But if you left it on and “as a producer” you should be aware of those things, then YES, you should be fired. That is a fine for the station that may be more costly than your yearly salary. They curse “off mic” all the time, so to say Elle should be fired too would suggest that no one will be working at V103…lol
Furthermore, the only two people that I enjoy hearing on V103 during the day is Ryan and Rashaun Ali. If they moved to the morning show, I would go to work early.

Rodney is right about how it started, but I work at the station and Nina sent a text to someone talking about who she couldn’t stand at the station and she sent it to Elle by mistake! So Elle confronted her, Nina didn’t think that Elle was gonna say her name and tried to set her up by not turning off the mics!

I see that V103 isn’t professional. Why would you allow any staff member to talk to another staff person in that manner. If my co-worker came into my office and talk to me the way El did to the other young lady they would be fired. This is crazy and I’m turned off by the radio station. You have great DJ’s like Frank Ski/Wanda, Tom Joyner to Sasha The Diva who are great people and professional. I’m switching the station.
