Former Atlantan Raven Symone in ABC Family pilot called ‘The Great State of Georgia’
ABC Family is considering a show called “The Great State of Georgia,” according to Deadline.com.
Indeed, Georgia is a great state, isn’t it? And that name alone is fine subliminal marketing.
But the show isn’t based here. And unlike a lot of shows nowadays, this one is not going to be shot here either, that I know of. Rather, former Atlantan Raven Symone plays a curvy Southern character named Georgia trying to break into the acting world in New York City.
The pilot was written by author Jennifer Weiner (In Her Shoes) and Jeff Greenstein (Desperate Housewives). (Weiner graduated with me from college, class of 1991!)
One of the producers and co-creators is a former Atlantan Jeff Greenstein, according to his Twitter. His credits include “Friends,” “Will & Grace,” “Parenthood” and “Desperate Housewives.”
Symone was last seen over the summer in an ABC Family film “Revenge of the Bridesmaids.”

I hope the pilot does well and the show is picked up. Raven Symone is really a great role model and has managed to be successful without being strung out on drugs and alcohol like others. We need more you actresses like her. Good luck Raven!

I really hope they make the show!!!

I really cannot understand why bloggers feed into the ignorance of other people. There is always some person who posts their comment and it is both racist and full of misspelled words. Don’t feed into this people!! Please try to stay on the topic. Now, with that said, Raven Symone is quite the comedic actress and she has been very savvy with her selection of roles thus far…I wish her well!!

The show sounded funny (the name is a clever one for a sitcom as well). Having Raven Symone on the channel again might mean good ratings, Revenge of The Bridesmaids did do well (and was a great movie). This would be cool. They’ve always needed more original comedy (that doesn’t get cancelled). They are already on their way to creating a variety through comedy, this would add to that.

No, her character in that photo is supposed to be criticized a one of the antagonists for her weight, because her character was fat as a child. Raven is beautiful woman, and if not as skinny as she was younger, still thin.

My daughter was one of the trophy presenters working backstage at The Diamond Awards and said Raven, “Is a class act, beautiful and down to earth.” Go Raven!

She’s fat and unfunny. Lame cable stations continue to hire her for shows because they know the drooling masses will recognize her and stick around for a couple of commercial breaks. And the idea that she’s worth $700 million is ludicrous. Her merchandising line is worth $400 mil tops, and she gets only a tiny fraction of that.
