Audrina Patridge, in a bit of a surprise, was ousted sixth on “Dancing With the Stars” Tuesday night.
From a technical standpoint, Patridge was quite good each week and even ended up on top of the leader board week three with her waltz. She has a dancer’s build and clearly worked hard. But she lacked charm and struggled to connect with whatever character she was playing on stage.
“I had so much fun and made such good, new friends,” she said blandly after getting eliminated.
Personally, I didn’t think she’d have much of a following and would be eliminated earlier. But she was a better dancer than expected and those MTV “Hills” fans kept her around awhile.
Although early favorite Jennifer Grey was not told until the end that she was safe, Tom Bergeron said she wasn’t necessarily the one with the second lowest votes. So that was probably just a ruse. Even though this was one of Grey’s weaker performances, with her emotion overwhelming her technique, I’m sure she was perfectly safe.
The two celebrities with the lowest judges’ scores Kurt Warner (22) and Bristol Palin (28) had plenty of viewer votes and survived. Palin has a similar issue as Audrina in terms of performance skills, but she clearly has a bigger fan base.
Brandy was on top for the second week in a row thanks to her elegant tango and is clearly going to be around for the finale with Grey. She also outlasted the other six couples during the marathon dance.
Former Atlantan Kyle Massey, who is a natural performer but not a natural dancer, improved from a week ago and tied for second with the judges. Rick Fox remains a possible final three contestant with an intense take on a tango.
