Is V-103 considering Al B Sure for Quiet Storm?

Al_B_Sure_ArtistIt’s been more than seven months since V-103 abruptly let go Joyce Littel from the Quiet Storm after a lengthy tenure.

There were rumors soon after that actors Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe were considering a syndicated night show. That didn’t pan out. Now the latest name thrown out is Al B  Sure, the R&B singer best known for late 1980s hit “Nite & Day.”

A Sure representative at Chicago-based Owens Morris Communications Kenny Johnson confirmed that Sure has talked with V-103. But Kenny said nothing has been signed: “He talks to a lot of different stations.” Rick Caffey, GM of V-103, per policy, declined comment.

Sure has done radio before,  including a show on Hot 92.3 in Los Angeles until last year. He was most recently on the reality show “Ultimate Merger” on TV One starring Omarosa in a “Bachelorette”-style program. Sure made the final three but she ultimately chose nobody.

V-103 has gone without a jock for that late-night show since Littel was let go.

I’ve lost a lot of respect for Elle Duncan after her asinine comment this morning regarding the gentleman’s living situation at the Fox Theater. Then she tried to discount her faux pas by telling an unrelated story about UGA. SMDH…

I ONLY listen to V-103 on Sunday mornings….I don’t listen to Frank and Wanda at all. They are sooooo phony! I used to listen to it late at night sometimes. Joyce Littel is so much better than connect-a-brow Al B. Sure…of course he was a cutie way back in the day..now he is just a has been….bring Joyce Littel back!!!

The problem here is the loss of good radio talent, people who were trained to perform as a radio personality. I am getting sick of singers assuming the role of the DJ. I know many of them are good at it but dammit, a lot of good radio people are unfairly being kicked to the curb.

I live in the Macon area and I heard Al B Sure doing a “Quiet Storm” show that was syndicated on V-101.7 in Macon in the early 2000’s. It was a good show, a whole lot better than Keith Sweat’s show pathetically called “The Sweat Hotel” which is syndicated into many cities, mostly on stations owned by Clear Channel and sadly now on legendary WBLS in New York City. They also let go their legendary “Quiet Storm” host in Vaughn Harper.

Atlanta, consider yourself VERY lucky to not have to endure “The Sweat Hotel” hosted by Keith Sweat.

Thank you Morris for your Morning show 8am-10am. I glad to hear the new song from ATL’s Avery Sunshine. The masses will have to endure debt collection commericals HA!

This board will fill up with meaningless comments on how bad V-103 has become. The problem is they do not care what you think or how you feel. Its easy to solve, preset your dial to 94.1 at 8 am. Morris will wake you up with Rhonda Thomas, Erykah Badu, and Maysa.

I so agree with you Scott. I’m so tired of Wanda Smith talking about the love of her life Lamorris (with that ghetto as hell name). She’s just so happy that somebody wants her annoying a$$.

In other news, Elle Duncan is an idiot. No talent. The most annoying voice and person on the air!

I agree with Scott and some of the others about Wanda she needs to go, also at one point I thought Elle Duncan was fairly intellegent, but she let Wanda bring her down to her level with her rude comments about people and so not funny, MR/MS Sophia also allowed the same thing and I am tired of the cussing in the morning or any other time by her.

I can’t stand that damn Frank Ski, and Wanda, and now that Elle is added it’s even worse. A bunch of hen’s hollering and screaming over each other. i wish they could put Ryan Cameron and Rashawn Ali on all day. I did like Joyce at night. Not sure why they would get rid of such a classy and talented host; that’s Radio One for you though. They also own Hot 107.9 and put that buffoon Ricky Smiley on the air; what an ignorant joke he is!

Rodney,

I saw where one of your readers mentioned 91.9 WCLK the Jazz of the city. I’m pretty new to your blog so I’m not sure if you have ever profiled this station. I tuned in to it about two years ago and I have not looked back since. I cannot afford to purchase satellite radio so it is the best alternative I have as far a radio station I can listen to in my car. It is a commercial free radio station and even though they may not play music that appeals to a mass audience, I think that any true music lover would appreciate the selection that they play. Plus the radio personalities really are really positive and seem to have a love and passion for the music that they play and for the fact they are able to share it with so many people, not only in Atlanta but all over the world as well(The station broadcast on-line as well).

See GA peachy, if you give my boy Morris a try in the morning you will at least “get into the music”. Listen to this song by Iman-GP, titled: “Who was I trying to fool” . You will never hear this on V-103 but you will put it on your ipod and listen at work. Leo the sister N’Dambi is hot and only heard on WCLK.

Al B Sure??? V103 morning show is awful. I only listen to the Tom Joyner morning show. “Very Positive and funny” Two days ago 104.1 signal was weak and I turned over to V103 for the first time in years because I couldn’t hear TJMS and listened for a minute and ended up turning the radio off and read. Equally as worst as Frank Ski is Steve Harvey. Why can’t those people speak english correctly????

I agree with all who detest Frank Ski and that Wanda thing. They are the worst thing on radio. Like some one mentioned early, I only listen to the channel on Sunday morning. Even the host for the gospel show Larry Tinsley, is getting to be obnoxious. Every one on this station thinks they are stars. Most of all, I thoroughly detest that ‘the peoples station’ crap. What people?

Frank and Wanda in the morning are the worst. I even hate saying it because I want to like V-103. But I hate them. and adding Elle.. wtfudge was that all about. How did Wanda even get a gig like this one?? They hate giving it up to Ryan Cameron. … but they need too!. I listen to ANYBODY else in the morn’s now. and I mean anybody but Frank and Wanda! YUK Yuk yuk!

Im gonna try 94.1 .. i see someone mentioned it in the blog earlier…sounds kinda nice.

Radio One does not own V-103, CBS Radio does. I’d rather listen to Radio One’s HOT 107.9 and MAJIC 107.5/97.5 before V-103 in the mornings. Rickey Smiley is da shiiit and fits in with HOT 107.9’s demographic!!!!

A lot of people are commenting that they don’t like V-103. Nobaody cares what you don’t like. Apparently a lot of other people do because V-103 is THE #1 STATION IN ATLANTA and the ratings leader. More people listen to V-103 than any other radio station in Georgia.
